Half the issue why so many Video Game companies have series they sit on and do nothing with is because with all the layoffs, studio closures and buyouts in the industry it's impossible for companies to find studios that would be interested in or have the talent to make games in long dormant series

I remember as a kid I went Halloween costume shopping. And outside the pop up there was a truck with a slogan underneath the logo for the seasonal pop up (idk if it was Spirit Halloween or not)

While it didn't use emojis instead used different graphics it stuck with me because I feel like every character could be put into one or two categories depending on what the creators intended their audiences reactions would be.

Wario? He's funny. Pennywise? He's scary. Jack sparrow? He's cool. Kirby? They're cute. Jessica Rabbit? She's sexy

Another reason why it's stuck with me is that there aren't a lot of woman characters who are "funny". Like Wario, or Crash Bandicoot or Bugs Bunny. They're only ever designed to be "Sexy", "Cute" on rare occasions "Scary" and in modern times "Cool" but still no "Funny"

There's also the fact that there's barely any men characters who are "sexy" that immediately come to mind except for the ones who are made by Toby Fox, Like mettaton or Rouxls Kaard

Also this is talking about what the creators designed for them. And characters could fit into two categories. Or fit into different categories depending on the interpretation of the character. Like Freddy Krueger is both "Funny" and "Scary" or Loala Bunny, in the original space Jam she's "Sexy", in space Jam a new legacy she's "cool" in the Looney Tunes she's "funny" and in Wabbit (2017) she's "Funny" and "Sexy"

If I had a time machine and infinite money I would go back to 2010 to buy out the rights to several platformer franchises and any developers who wanted to make 3D platformers

And I would just. throw money at them to make art. Basically the video game equivalent of how Laika studios works
