SHOW REVIEW: At 5:00pm, the doors opened and swallowed hundreds of Pop-Punk fans into Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI! Inside the venue, The Wonder Years had an all new set of merchandise including multiple t-shirts, crew neck sweatshirts, hoodies and a new hat design. Microwave, the first supporting act, hit the stage with a bang and properly kicked off the show. Tiny Moving Parts performed second, with an immediate roar from the crowd. Penultimately, letlive took the stage and prepared the audience for a night that they would not forget! When the lights went down for the last time, the hum of The Wonder Years' instruments blasted through the P.A. speakers at Lupo's, and into the hearts of their dedicated fan base. The crowd plowed forward toward the stage like a tsunami of human beings, screaming song lyrics to "I Don't Like Who I Was Then". Finishing their opening track, The Wonder Years ecstatically began playing "Local Man Ruins Everything"! The band energetically played songs from 'The Greatest Generation', 'Suburbia, I've Given You All and Now I'm Nothing' and they even played "Washington Square Park" off of their 2010 release, 'The Upsides'. The Wonder Years also played a great, full-band version of "Living Room Song," that the crowd absolutely loved! The evening closed with "Came Out Swinging," which was accompanied by an enormous wave of crowd-surfers. When the band left the stage their fans screamed and chanted until they returned to play "Stained Glass Ceilings," an electrifying encore. The tired, sweat-covered audience slowly made their way to the exit and poured out of the venue and onto the streets of Providence, where sidewalk vendors were waiting with water. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Photograph of The Wonder Years taken by John DiPietro, photojournalist for Slam Punk Design.
