By nature, StettiHo contradicts my Klogan OTP (Klink is Jealous and wants Hogan to himself, Hochstetter said āNeinā!) Thereās also some darker themes to this ship (non-con, Master/slave dynamics, toxic power dynamics, imprisonment, nsfwhump, etc.) I wanted to have a separate space for this particular brand of Crack-Induced Nonsense since not everyone wants to be subjected to this crack. Unlike Hochstetter, I understand how consent works.
We Stan Stetti around here; our smol angry bean man deserves some love. However, we do not Stan Nazism, bigotry, TERF bs, homophobia, etc. around here!

It comes from some people (myself included) calling Hochstetter āStettiā and Hoganā¦ well, he is a bit of a Ho isnāt he? š And if you say StettiHo slow enough, it sounds like āSteadyā¦ Ho,ā which is what Hochstetter would be telling Hogan, who is never one to turn down a good dicking down, no matter who is supplying the dā¦

Pretty sure thereās a rule out there that says if there are two characters, they can and will be shipped. Also, this is a CRACK ship, it doesnāt have to make sense, and yes, it is problematic/toxic. BUT it is compelling to me! I donāt have to explain myself to you, Iām not forcing you to be here (like Stetti is with Hogan).

tips for writing dubcon that I personally use
trigger warningās applied
internal conflict the character goes through can be one of the main factors that separate dubcon from non-con; in most dubcon works, the protagonist is unsure, not in a position or condition where they can outright consent or say no (or in some scenarios, the protagonist doesnāt want to get intimate with the antagonist, but is coerced into getting intimate with them anyway).
personally, while writing dubcon, I like to emphasize the vulnerability of my protagonist. while at the same time Iāll make sure that there are also some aspects / some glimpses that indicate some parts of my protagonist may begin to yield and enjoy the sex during the act.
that being said, although a part of my protagonist may later find themself enjoying it, Iāll always keep their vulnerability ā in the sense that the one who holds all power and authority over them is the antagonist, and my protagonist has little to no control over what happens to them.
which also leads back to this internal conflict. something about ācharacter A does not want to sleep with character B, but they canāt really say no, and during the sex, a part of character A starts yearning for character B, and character A is upset (or even outright disgusted) with themself for how they yearn for character Bā.
that being said, one thing Iāll always keep in mind is that āorgasm does not necessarily mean the atmosphere shifts from non-con to dubconā. you can write a dark non-con fic where your protagonist reaches an orgasm, and it will not mean your work now falls under the ādubconā category just because the victim reaches their climax. your work is not ādubconā if your protagonist cries and begs for the antagonist to stop the entire time before said protagonist eventually reaches an orgasm. my point is, orgasm is not a deciding factor whether a work is dubcon or if itās non-con, because orgasm is a natural response of a personās body to sexual stimulation, your character can have an orgasm against their will (this also applies to character getting an erection; it can be against their will, so erection alone does not decide if your work is non-con or if itās dubcon).
basically, these are keys to dubcon that I personally use: uncertainty, vulnerability, power imbalance (also worth mentioning that these are just key points that can make a work fall under dubcon category, but works that contain these topics are not necessarily dubcon or non-con just because they feature these topics).

Dudes, Iāve literally done so much research into this, I basically have a PhD in StettiHo-eology at this point š So without further adoā¦ the longest headcanon explanation I've ever come up with!
Stettiās Sexuality Identity Crisis! Yay!!!
The Basics
Call me Captain Obvious, but homosexuality was super illegal in Nazi Germany. If someone was gay, they would be šÆ better off hiding their sexuality, marrying someone of the opposite sex, and settling down/having some kids. I imagine some did have secret affairs, but there was a high risk of it being uncovered and the consequences were severe; paying with your life severe.
Nazis also believed that homosexuality was spread like diseases were. If there was a homosexual outed within Nazi ranks, isolation/elimination was used to prevent the āspread of gayā. Gestapo/SS were especially notorious for trying to find homosexuals within their own ranks, hunts for homosexuals for when someone thought they 'caught' being gay from someone else. Not how it worksā¦ at all!
During the war, it was very possible/encouraged for German military personnel to keep a wife and/or have affairs, and it would be suspicious for military personnel, especially officers, to not be married/sleeping around with women or at minimum, date women. German Military/SS personnel could get monetary incentives for every kid they had (or as I call it, the Fucking Bonusā¢ļø). Officers had influence and made decent money, so they would be sought-after husbands during war times. This would be the case for Stetti and Klink, even if both men were not āconventionallyā attractive.
Also, keep in mind that women in the 1940s didnāt have the same rights as women today do. Prior to 1950s, if a woman married a man of a different nationality, she āLOSTā her original nationality and assumes her husbandās!! Women were their husbandās property and unmarried women were technically their FATHERās property. What does this have to do with anything? Women needed to marry to live outside of their family unit so many overlooked flaws in potential husbands. Again to say military officers/SS officers/Gestapo agents made good money, so they were often sought out by women.
The Case for Stetti
As mentioned above, Stetti isnāt married in canon, that we know of. He does show a little interest in romantic entanglements with women, but again, this could be to keep up appearances amongst fellow officers. There was a lot of backstabbing in Gestapo/SS ranks; many were outed by their fellow officers to avoid catching homosexual from them. Gotta keep the ranks āpureā and free from any deviants, yāknow?
For Stetti, sexuality couldāve been something that:
a) he just never really thought about and went along with societal expectations to try and marry a woman, even if he, deep down, didnāt necessarily want to. He may have even sabotaged relationships to push potential brides away.
b) he knew he was gay/not-straight earlier on and doubled down on denial due to the consequences. He would pursue relationships but when women wanted something more (i.e. sex or a more serious commitment) Stetti would panic and cut them loose.
Either way, a long-term bachelor (whoās not on the Russian Front, in a POW camp, or otherwise doesnāt have access to women) signals that thereās something āwrongā with them, and that something might be that they prefer to be with other men. Obligatory 'there's nothing wrong with being gay' from me, this is just what the Nazis believed.
Thereās also a self-hating aspect to internalized homophobia; you are hating yourself for being gay, because you think being gay is wrong, for whatever reason. Some will throw themselves into their work to hide their self-loathingā¦ some like Stetti with his Gestapo work to avoid his true feelings, until one day, he meetsā¦ Hogan.
Enter Hogan: Thirst Trap
In many cases of Internalized Homophobia (such as my own many many years ago), the āGay Awakeningā¢ļøā is usually brought on by someone of the same sex who ignites those āØfeelingsāØ within (aka a hottie with a body). Who else would be better to accelerate a Gay Awakening than Colonel Hogan?! As mentioned earlier, homosexuality was viewed as a transmissible disease, like the common cold, so Hogan could be labelled a carrier, since Stetti didn't have these gay feelings until this smooth bastard showed up. Stetti would put all the blame on Hoganā¦ thereās nothing wrong with him! He didnāt have any āimpureā thoughts until Hogan showed up (very deep in denial!)
Even though Hogan's sexuality is assumed to be straight (thanks canon!), if he's a vector for homosexuality, he could've gotten if from someone else, most likely Klink (another unmarried German officer). My hc of Hogan is that it is highly unlikely that he is straight, bi or pan perhaps (he just likes getting laid, his partner's gender isn't that important). Not to mention Hogan is very charismatic and charming, and I don't think that charm is always reserved for the ladies. I mean, heās always laying the charm on Klinkā¦ in canon too I might add!
Waking up from Internalized Homophobia
Gay Awakenings from Internalized Homophobia are... intense (at least mine was, so drawing on that experience in this essay/Ted Talk!) You may hate the subject of your Gay Awakening, because your life was just fine before meeting them and 'turning gay'. You blame them for your attraction to them, because you didnāt feel this way before!That hate can quickly turn into unhinged angry outbursts when you're around the subject because you... just don't know what to do about these new feelings! For example, everytime you see them, you scream "WHAT IS THIS MAN DOING HERE?!" This could be your inner thoughts too while trying to masturbate and think of a sexy scenarioā¦
And then there's Obsession. Maybe you think you still hate them, but you also want to spend all your time with them or get them alone with you. At first, you don't think you need anything romantic/sexual to happen but you soon crave it. Like a fish craves water or humans crave oxygen. You tell yourself you only need one night, but then you get hooked.
Stetti's Behaviour Towards Hogan
Aside from potentially capturing an Allied Underground Operative, why does Stetti pursue Hogan as much as he does? If he put that much effort into finding and courting a woman, he'd be married long time ago (why is Cotton Eyed Joe playing in my head?!) Sure, he seems dedicated to his job, but anyone in law enforcement would tell you that you cannot obsess over that one case for too long, eventually you gotta do your job and work on other cases.
Also, Hogan is technically not within Stettiās (Gestapo) jurisdiction; but Klinkās (Luftwaffe). Stettiās business is with the Underground and Sabotageā¦ there are multiple suspects for that but as soon as something happens near Hammelburgā¦ Hogan is to blame! Even if itās practically impossible for him to blow up that bridge, since he is in the toughest POW Camp in all of Germany after all! Stetti shouldnāt even be considering Hogan to be a suspectā¦ but heās obsessed, soā¦ He definitely uses any sabotage activity near Hammelburg as an excuse to visit his (and everyone elseās) Favourite American Colonel!
Now if you factor in Klink and my hc for Stetti suspecting Klink and Hogan are an item, the two Germans really do fight over a boy like high school girls do. Klink gets to see Hogan every fucking day, and Stettiās mad jealous! It also shifts homsexual suspicions from Stetti onto Klink, because Stetti caught the gay from Hogan, and Hogan caught it from Klink. This would get rid of Klink, aka the competition. Also Stetti's believing that Klink and Hogan are together can be seen as wishful thinking that Hogan is gay (or at least not straight).
Despite all that, Stetti's still in the Denial/Anger stages of Internalized Homophobia, where he thinks he hates Hogan, yet he can't stop thinking about him. He wants to be near him at all times, yet wonders why Hogan is always around. If Stetti could just get Hogan into his custody, he may be able to figure out what the hell is going on with his feelings for this man! Maybe pin him up against the wallā¦ for good measure.
StettiHo: Allies vs. Nazis
I saw in this post that the Heroes often have the mindset of "we don't hate you because you're gay, we hate you because you're an asshole" or "we don't care that you're gay, you're the one who has issues accepting that." I need to do a rewatch and pick up on those sorts of jokes with Stetti/StettiHo vibes, my last rewatch focused on Klogan vibes. With that, the Allies/Heroes/Hogan are wayyyyy more accepting of homosexuality (even though it was illegal in Allied countries, but not to the same degree as Nazi Germany) than the Nazis/Stetti's side are.
If Stetti were to accept he was gay and the Gestapo/SS found out, there would be zero grace given based on years of service/years of being a party member or anything like that. In fact, the Nazis would get rid of him so fast in order to contain a homosexual outbreak within the ranks and keep the party āpureā. However, if word of his sexuality got to the Allies or Hogan, there'd perhaps be a bit more leniency and it may cause/put pressure on Stetti to defect (stranger things have happened) or at least question his faith in the Party. This isn't a post explaining the legitimacy of StettiHo, it (partially) explains why Hogan is the subject of Stetti's Gay Awakeningā¦ because he represents a way out of the self-loathing/hiding his true self.
In Conclusion:
There definitely is evidence that suggests that Stetti is secretly gay and is trying to convince himself that it's something else entirely. Because his life literally depends on him playing the straight Gestapo agent. However, heās not doing a great job of keeping up appearances with women. Besides, I often say: thereās a fine line between hatred and lust and Stetti has blurred that line! Perhaps he couldāve lived in denialā¦ until he met and became obsessed with everyoneās favourite American Colonel: Hogan
I may further elaborate/better explain this later, but this is the basics of how Stetti definitely suffers from Internalized Homophobia.

Martyr Complex: Hogan barters and negotiates with Stetti. If it takes Hoganās freedom to get Stetti to back off of Stalag 13, then Hogan will (relunctantly) oblige. Heāll do things for the greater good.
Hogan definitely enjoys sex, and isnāt too particular to who his partner is/their gender. Stetti isnāt his first choice but thereās something about him not submitting instantly or being dominantā¦
Definitely gets touch starved quickly!! Heās always touching people in canon, imagine how much heād miss it if he couldnāt touch anyone/be touched? Then, when Stetti touches him, he finally satisfies a craving he didnāt know he hadā¦

āØInternalized HomophobiaāØ Shit sucks IRL when youāre dealing with it but damn! It is compelling to write about! Stettiās case is interesting because I always say that history was gayer than portrayed. Chances are good that many Nazis were probably deep in the closet but it was definitely better to hide in plain sight. I could, and probably will, make a separate post about this later.
Hoganās Martyr Complexā¢ļø Hogan is šÆ the kind of guy who would sacrifice himself for the good of his outfit, in a heartbeat! So what does that have to do with StettiHo? Only everything! For me, itās how StettiHo can come to be: Stetti offers Hogan a deal where he lays off his investigation of Stalag 13 if Hogan goes into his custody, becoming his. Of course, Hogan agrees since his operation/his men/Klink is no longer Stettiās focus, he is. Also makes for some angsty Klogan vibesā¦
The Dynamics are āØchefās kissāØ While I believe thereās a lot of switching going on, I think things start off with Dom!Stetti and Bratty sub!Hogan. As time goes on, Hogan takes on a more dominant role, especially since he realizes that Stetti wonāt seriously harm him/heāll do anything to keep Hogan all to himself, making Stetti more of a sub (Hogan outranks him too, so yāknow š Thereās also a million and one possibilities for Bratty sub!Stetti š) This gets explored more in my StettiHo WIP (not Terror in the Shadows).
Intimate Whumper/NSFWhump. Also, Caretaker Whumper. Thereās something so deliciously devastating about Stetti being the one who hurts Hogan, and also patching up his wounds/caring for him. Also forced/delayed orgasms, anyone? Getting electrocuted by a cattle prod while cumming?? I donāt know what it is, but Stettiās gloved hands. Lawd š„µ the whole uniform actuallyā¦ The amount of times he's putting on/fidgeting with his gloves is canon.... what I was I doing? Oh yes, making a point! Thereās something so impersonal about Stetti not touching Hogan with his bare hand(s). Yet his actions, combined with Hoganās touch-starvedness makes it oh so personal!
people need to realise that a poor little meow meow must be a character who has committed atrocities you cannot poor little meow meow a good guy thatās not how this works
