Let's talk about Kazuma Kaneko's Beelzebul

Kaneko Beelzebub design is not a copy of the Dictionnaire Infernal Beelzebub, rather, it is an Kaneko original design and the main inspiration comes from one of his favorite movie —the fly. (1958 and 1986)

Indeed, it is evident that skull symbol on wings originate from Dictionnaire Infernal Beelzebub. but,the only part Kaneko quoted was just the skull symbol .

the fly (1958), a great science fiction film. You can see its introduction on wiki and youtube,and this is the Megami tensei 2 (1990), Kaneko's first work after joining ATLUS,you can see that he immediately added this fly man as an NPC in the game.

the fly (1986), this film is every bit as outstanding as its predecessor. like the first installment, it tells a profoundly unforgettable tragic tale.this time, however, the Fly-Man's appearance has become even more terrifying, evolving into something resembling a colossal monster.

This is the first Kaneko Beelzebul frome Megami tensei 2 (1990).did you notice that there was a human face on the head of the fly? Now you know why, because this is a tribute to the film version. a fusion of human and fly.

YES, Ei did sacrifice herself for Makoto. It’s right there in the game

Sorry if this comes across as a teeny bit of a rant, but after seeing multiple posts attempting to debunk this for whatever reason I figured it is absolutely time to establish this once and for all.

This all comes from Ei’s voiceline about the Treasured Tales of the Chouken Shinkageuchi book series, in which she says the following:

The account given in the book "Treasured Tales" is largely an accurate one. At that time, she was preoccupied with various domestic matters within the island, so as her kagemusha, I assumed her identity and joined the troops dispatched to pacify Watatsumi. After this point, however, the story turns into mere wishful thinking. Back then, I was just a martial artist wrapped up in all the fighting, not a social reformer or moral leader.

If you listen to this voice line, you’ll see that she establishes it is an accurate record up to the battle against Orobashi. During the Archon War, Orobashi fled Teyvat and went to Enkanomiya after facing defeat. The war happened after he led the attack on Narukami ruled soil (very sad btw, no shade to snake boy), which was an event that occurred POST-ARCHON WAR. Orobashi’s emergence and The Raiden sisters’ rule only occurred after Ei had won the archon war for her sister.

As for the Treasured Tales timeline, within the game we only have access to ONE COPY of the series, that of which being the FIRST COPY.

The first part of a traditional Inazuman novel. This particular volume is also known as "Shinkageuchi," and was once a restricted text. It contains a fantastical tale about the first Raiden Shogun and her kagemusha, depicting the benevolent sagacity of the first Shogun and the great valor of her kagemusha. However, due to the great popularity of another book known colloquially as "Raiden Reincarnation," many people became interested in stories of this kind. This book thus wound up being published in a haphazard manner.

Here is the final paragraph of the book we have access to in-game, which contains the bit many people try to debunk with her voiceline.

As most know, only The Seven emerged from the wrack and ruin of the war that rolled across the mortal world like a crimson storm. Though the Shadow Shogun was divinely skilled in martial arts and unsurpassed with the blade, she believed herself little more than a warrior with little understanding of mortal hearts. Thus, she chose to give up her bodily form, helping her sister to ascend to the "heavenly citadel" and obtain dominion over Inazuma. Shortly after, the True Shogun, "Makoto," set up her Shogunate and began to rule over the land. Remembering their bond, she recalled "Ei"'s divine will and reforged her body, thus returning her sister to her side once more as her kagemusha.

So, all of this simplified tells us the following:

Orobashi arrived in Inazuma at the end of the archon war.

The Treasured Tales book series is accurate up to the battle against Orobashi.

The only volume we have access to is the first one

The writing of Ei sacrificing her body in this book is an accurate record, as the volumes covering the Watatsumi war are not accessible in-game.

Alright, that’s the end! I’m making this primarily as a resource people can link whenever this argument is brought up, I’m not going to spend my time pondering as to why people are so incessant in debunking this but either way hopefully we can finally cut the misconception.

With all the story and shit what's the possibility that Paimon is the third descender?? Mona can't read her, some guy in the prologue of Inazuma said Paimon smells like the stars, and the book of esoteric revelations quest reveals that Paimon has a string that extends somewhere above the sky. She implies she's "Atleast 400 years old" and is kinda small, there's only one like her, Abyss doesn't affect her (or the traveler), her entire design screams "CELESTIA". The heavenly principles (dude/dudette is definitely a D word) made the gnoses with the third descender's remains (While this implies the third passed away, I am not trusting anything that comes from the heavenly principles or their associates.) Paimon is a character from Ars Goetia, specifically one of the nine kings of hell. it's either this or I've had too much chocolate ice-cream while being sleep deprived

i would add that it kind of feels like dehumanization of trauma survivors to say that they are automatically broken and should not be allowed to have kids because recovery is impossible (ESPECIALLY in the case of ei, who is shown to be a very gentle and compassionate person with understanding and patience+open mindedness during her trauma recovery. plus with that nurturing temperament being baked into the core character of the mei variant formula) but i understand the perspective so it’s whatever.

btw i feel like the reading of ei as a controlling and arrogant individual who sees herself as above her people when a big part of the reason she created a puppet with an unwavering algorithm was because she is an emotionally conscious person that would inevitably not be capable of keeping up any sort of the cold indifference needed for her decision (that faltering, in her mind, would lead to the traumatic event repeating itself) is kind of a huge character misunderstanding.

this is the woman who killed herself so that her sister could rule because of her love for the people and fear of not being enough for them. the woman who destroyed her physical body and stored her consciousness within a sword inside of her new mechanical body because she quite literally could not hold steady in the face of her people’s dreams. the whole point of the aq was forcing her to see those dreams because she needed to be shaken from her trauma-driven ideals.

it’s not that she doesn’t know or care about what to do with a living being in her care, it’s that at the time of kuni’s creation she was petrified with trauma and did not have the means to recover and be back in her “right mind” enough to care for a “child”

tl;dr ei’s trauma responses, while absolutely not excuses, do not completely define her; and it isn’t misogynistic to say she wouldn’t be an abusive or neglectful mother if she goes through trauma therapy because she, as a person, is intentionally shown to be nurturing, loving, and patient.
