・Walking out onto the platform, his heart was beating so fast, he swore it would explode.

・However, that pull he felt was becoming stronger, as the largest dragon came forth from the shadows.

・Balerion huffed, sending a warm puff of air against Baelor's face.

・It was a story he told people how he bonded with the largest dragon in Westeros.

・When Baelor first introduced you to Balerion, you were incredibly apprehensive. Your hands were sweaty, your stomach was filled with butterflies, you had to remind yourself to breathe.

・When you touched the dragon's skin, it was quite warm, scaly with scars yet almost smooth in other places. And whenever you rub his head, he practically purs.

"Ziry lik ao," Baelor had whispered.

You side-eyed him, and he chuckled.

"It means 'he likes you.'"

"Oh, well, tell him I like him too-"

・Baelor loves taking you flying. He likes when the hair on your head swishes in the wind, the way you clutch him tighter.

・Wherever Balerion lands, is where you'll be for a couple of hours.

・You two lay in the grass, looking up at the bright sky and passing clouds.

・Balerion lays behind you both, falling asleep with a wing protectively around you two.

・It's like you're laying in front of a building, Balerion is that big.

・Since the bond between riders and their dragons is so strong, Balerion knows how important you are. You're never in danger with Balerion around (sometimes he treats you like a hatchling and brings you food to eat, nudges you when you're in front of him, and sometimes he whines when he can't see you.)

This is mainly speculation. I haven't read God Valley yet. So there won't be any spoilers of that because I dont know what's even going on yet lol~☆

TW - These are pretty angsty,

- Dragon would love you with his whole heart but for that reason is exactly why he has to keep you at arms length, its not that he doesnt care, its the complete opposite,

- Dragon has had to give up so much, his son, his connections, his family, his friends, he has seen comrades die and he has forced himself to keep going because their sacrifices would be in vain if he didnt, he cant lose you too,

- Everytime that you keep coming back, Dragon takes a breath because he knows that there will be a day when you dont, and he DREADS it. He dreads the day that he doesnt see you, when everything he cares about burns more, the blood that will coat his hands which he can never wash off,

- The tattoo in Dragon's eye is for all of those that he saw perish that day, all those names that he never learned, all of that blood that had stained him that day, he carries the souls that never got to be known. But he will remember them,

- Dragon never fully takes his cloak off, he has wrapped one side around your shoulder when you lean against him,

- Dragon is always covering his body, it was from years of getting used to becoming unnoticed, for it being ingrained in him to stay in the background,

- Dragon is... hesitant, he loves you, but every touch between you both? he misses, every quiet night which he has let you rest against him and his eyes have finally shut at the sound of your heartbeat,

- Dragon is very touch starved, he leans into any touch that you give him, savouring it, holding it to his core, but he doesnt ask for it, thinking its selfish, youve figured him out long ago though, the quiet needs that a man who shoulders too much has,

- Dragon has a very dark and dry sense of humour, jokes that would make even the worst of pirates slip from his lips and even Ivankov has been stunned a few times before they end up laughing their ass off,

- Dragon is very patient, he knows that you want to help, so he teachs you how. Dragon may push people away, but hes smart enough to know that its practically impossible with how stubborn you are, so he may aswell start bringing you in further into the revolutionary army's operations. He teaches you supply routes and gives you a mission or two, he won't show favouritism, but he does appreciate you taking over the smaller tasks so that the burden is a little less. To ease the burden of a man whose shoulders will never be light,

- The guilt eats Dragon alive, from childhood to adulthood, the quiet simmering grief that tears him apart,

Dragon has nightmares, nightmares of flames and death and chains. Of the guilt of not getting everyone out.

Dragon always wakes with a start, his chest heaving, even now hes trying to compose himself.

"Ah... you're awake"

He mutters. Before he feels your hand entwined with his, gently grasping it. Theres no pity in your expression, no asking what his nightmare was about, you weren't going to pry on something that Dragon has tried years to process.

You move forward and rest your forehead against his. You dont say its not his fault, that wont get through to him. He hesitates before he relaxes into your hold and you just tug the 'worlds worst criminal' so his heads rested against your chest. Holding him to try and ground him. It doesnt fully settle him, but it helps, a lot. You ease that pain just enough that Dragon allows himself to touch, to accept affection.

Grey ghost as your dragon ...

. Grey ghost was a considerably shy dragon.

Although shy may not be the right word to describe him, more like introverted and prone to avoiding people. He isn't particularly fond of the ruckus that humans make. They're so noisy, and nosy.

. Cattle would disappear in the hours of daylight, often in days of heavy fog and engulfing dark clouds. All common folk know to herd in their livestock on particularly cloudy/foggy days as to dissuade the grey ghost from paying them a visit.

. Befitting his name, he hides in the clouds. shrouded with silver and dark shadow as he soars silently upon the wind like a haunting phantom, the beat of his wings like a windstorm or hurricane.

. He's a very silent flyer. Arguably the quietest dragon out of all of them. He drifts and skulks like a ghost.

. His wildness is that of a bird of prey. Poised and exact, silent and puffed with pride. If he were to bond with you, you'd get to delve more into his guarded personality. He's mostly withdrawn, but he certainly wouldn't mind your company.

. Humans, to him, are both predator and prey. He's seen what they are capable of, seen how the dragon-lords have captured and saddled his kind. At first he would be very hesitant of you, shying away and flying off whenever he was given the chance, but no matter how often he hid from you, he was never too far. You'll swear you can see him on the corner of your eye whenever your sights are set to the sky. You'll hear the beat of his wings as he'd silently cruise in the sky over your head, watching you. Observing you.

. Bonding with this wild dragon would take patience and delicacy, but once you were granted his precious trust? Oh he would be all over you.

. His leathery pale wings are worn from constant flight, so he would love whatever pampering you'd give him. Soothing Salves upon the aching muscles of his wings, cleaning his silvery scales around his face, or simply allowing him to sleep with his head nestled close to you or in your lap, he'd be a happy dragon. Humans have always been off limits to him, so he's exploring this side of humanity. The goodness. The kindness. The pack bonding that they seem to hold for anything and everything. You're his experience.

. He loves flying with you. He'd not even mind the saddle, almost eagerly letting you fasten the dragon-saddle upon him as he impatiently awaits for you to clamber on so he can show you how high he can soar. Be warned however- he's going to test you. See how high or fast you can tolerate his dance in the air, how much courage his little human has, and how worthy they are of riding him.

Be mindful to hold on tight to the reigns, you're going to need it.

. He'll take you over deep oceans, vast forests and treacherous mountains. He'll take you to the stars and the moon, fly you as close to the heavens that you can possibly reach your whilst within in your mortal body. He especially loves flying through billowing storm clouds and rainclouds. The rush of wind under his wings, the fresh cool rain on his scales, and the claps of thunder that makes his heart skip a beat. You may return from your flights a little drenched and shivering, but it'd be so worth it.

. He would probably not tolerate the dragon pits. He hates the confinement, and the thought of being cramped in there with other bulky dragons. All growling and huffing and bellowing fire, stepping on tails and talons. He's a solitary creature. Grey ghost likes the company of himself and you.

. Instead he would find a perch nearby. A cave perhaps, or a nice spot near the shoreline. He likes the bubbling seafoam and the glittering silver fish in the water.

. He loves seeing you every morning. When you leave the castle grounds, there you will find him. perched upon a cliffy hillside, or perhaps near the tide pools- his dark silver scales shimmering with seaspray. Your greetings are often reciprocated with a huff or a bellow of smoke, before he nestles his neck and wing down for you to climb upon his back.

. If you are bonded with him, it is possible you share a common interest. Perhaps you harbour some introverted tendencies, or maybe you are a little shy and anxious. You could also just want to go against the grain and do things at your own pace and style, whatever the case, you will both see a part of yourselves in one another. He gets it- he understands. Loud noises, gossip, prodding words and eyes- they're all too much. He'll take you to the tranquility of the clouds and stars, and he'll be your greatest strength and protection- just like you are his greatest peace and joy.

Okay, so I really want to redesign Skyrim's dragons, because not only am I itching to brainrot and draw dragons now, I need to hit them with my massive headcanon beam... Passionate dragon yap below:

The biggest headcanon I have for dragons is that all dragons look unique from each other rather than there only being the limited and bland range of types the game offers. I'm gonna keep their wyvern-like anatomy the same though, as they are all children of Akatosh rather than, say, Peryite, so they should reflect the time-god's form. I'll keep their designs somewhat recognizable for the important characters too, but then, I'm making their wings bigger and giving them a less clumsier posture (I think they should be able to walk on ground effortlessly rather than crawl so awkwardly) and generally I think they should be much larger with more variation in mass, proportions, scales, horns and markings - hell, why does the head shape always need to be so similar, there's so much you can do with dragon heads too. Alduin should have an oily sheen to his black scales, maybe Paarthurnax is pearlescent white in contrast and looks more regal save for some scars, stains and a few broken horns, and Odahviing should maybe own up to his name too... I think he should be a brighter red to highlight his slender blue wings - he's like the falcon of dragonkind, built for speed and agility. The game is just a guideline for me, you can bet your ass I'm gonna go insane with these designs.

However, the other headcanon I have is that despite the variety, it's the eyes that all stay somewhat the same; they differ in color but all have very constricted pupils and you can see this on dragonborns too. Something about the eye being a window to the soul, or something. There's nothing like this in the lore, it's just my own invention lol.

Oh, and a slightly smaller note - I think dragons are actually ear-shatteringly loud when they use their thu'um. It's only fitting for an innate magical ability called shouting, I mean I'm not only making dragons bigger but I think it adds to the terror when they can actually stun or damage you with their sound alone. Perhaps if you're somehow lucky enough to survive getting blasted with a dragon's fire breath, your eardrums definitely need a checkup afterwards.

Ah well, that's enough for now, but keep your eyes peeled for some dragon redesigns in the future...

Chapter One: 𓆞 Aquatic Dragons 𓆝 𓆟

ᯓ★ [ General Characteristics ]

Unlike many draconic species that walk the land— those who rely on rough scales or hide for protection, aquatic dragons have slippery or rubbery skin. This thin, slime-covered coat is used for gliding through currents of salt or freshwater with ease; reducing nearly any form of drag. Camouflage is typically in the form of faint spots or stripes in order to blend with any underwater background. Though all species of dragon have a distinctive color palette, for every individual of their species, this cannot be said about the dragons of the North. Who all have much paler coloring, equivalent to a shining pearl. However, aquatic dragons that lack such features remain proficient; since they have the ability to merge (or for a better word— melt) into water. Rendering themselves completely invisible.

𓆉 [ Saltwater Dragons ]

Dragons that reside in open oceans, lagoons, or even coral reefs are mostly omnivorous except for those that live in northern waters. Fish do take up a majority of their diet, but snacking on the blades of kelp or seaweed is just as delicious.

Sea dragons will often remain hidden from aquatic species not of their own pod, which also includes other dragons. While this behavior can be typical among these wild creatures as a whole, there have been reported sightings of interaction between more than one dragon species.

Yet, the acceptation of this behavior are coral reef dragons. Not only are they considered the most sociable of all dragons ever documented, reef dragons have been recorded to be friendly in the presence of humans. The reason for this is unknown, yet inspiring. Their friendliness likely stems from a reef's role in maintaining saltwater ecosystems; where many creatures choose to gather.

❄︎ { Polar Dragons }

Far north in more chilling parts of the world, are the most elusive of the aquatic dragons. Northern sea dragons: commonly known as polar dragons, are the only known species capable of residing in such icy waters.

Information on these creatures has only ever been recorded through word of mouth, until the recent decade: researchers in more rural areas have reported numerous sightings of pale sea-dwelling dragons with the ability to walk on land.

That is not to say they have miraculously grown scaly limbs and claws— polar dragons use their flippers to crawl across the snow if there is enough traction. They do not stay on land for long; only using this technique as a way to catch stray food.

Polar dragons are somewhat disliked by humans in these parts, due to their supposed habit of stealing fish. While dragons are not known for purposefully interacting with humans, polar dragons are viewed as pests by their human neighbors.

𓇢𓆸 [ Freshwater Dragons ]

Freshwater dragons are not all native to their habitats— at least most species aren't. When dragons were first discovered in the late 14th-15th century, humans bonded with the aquatic beasts in order to ensure safe passage on the sea. As time went on, sea dragons were bribed or even bred for fishing purposes, or guarding cargo ships.

The operation expanded; yet any dragons that escaped or slipped through their corrals found their way into freshwater rivers and adapted. Hence why freshwater dragons are so much smaller, and hold their breath for shorter periods of time.

They are one of the few dragonic species that can be purely herbivorous, although this is a rare trait. The stems and stalks of aquatic plants are a preferred meal, but many freshwater dragons enjoy digging through mud and sand to find crustaceans.

Dragons that reside in swampy areas or forests are capable of more unique hunting activities: shooting thin streams of water from their mouths like a water gun in order to catch insects. This method requires nearly complete stillness; which is why you won’t see them coming if they choose to make you a target.

❥ Hello! 👋🏽 everyone! I apologize for not posting as much lately, I’ve been very busy academic wise but for now I’m just taking a break! So I wrote this to get the juices flowing lol, but thank you & enjoy!

A magical tavern is owned by a boisterous old wizard, who wanted to use his abilities to make people happy! It’s the only place where you’ll find ale that changes your hair color, or encounter sandwiches that make themselves.

One person is assigned a very special animal when they come of age, and have the ability to communicate with them. Those creatures are bonded to their hearts, reflecting the inner self by what type of animal is at their side. However, sometimes people can’t fully understand their partners until they are older, as they have yet to discover their true selves or what they desire in life.

A man and a woman from two different kingdoms both attend a royal ball together, in hopes of finding a suitable partner. They both manage to get away from the scene and they end up meeting in a hidden space. Once they reveal themselves, it turns out one of them is a tiny person.

There is a large magical foundation that is responsible for creating all the mythical creatures in the world. This includes mermaids, dragons, fairies, etc. What happens when a human comes across it, wanting to become such a creature?

Beneath the catacombs of an old yet proud theater, lies a society of tiny people. Using props and items left behind by humans, they put on their own shows to spread their culture. Until one day, a curious individual finds themselves on the center stage of the surface.

A dragon-like being is found by a human couple as an egg and raised in a human town! Naturally all the residents enjoy him: he even helps them by carrying heavy things, heating their homes, or scaring off any vicious predators. Until one day a group of knights pass through and start to cower under the dragon’s gaze! Unaware he’s very friendly!

A princess from the moon resides alone in a secret palace. Sent there by her people to keep her safe from any danger or wrongdoers. What will happen when an astronaut comes crashing down on her doorstep?
