This ever growing belly is making it difficult to get into some stretching positions. I invested in some yoga blocks and a stretch out strap and mannnn does it make all the difference! 🙌🏻 . My back has been really sore so I've been taking it easy the last few days. Using blocks today for stretching the upper back. You might try using the blocks if you feel confident with Chakrasana, the Wheel Pose, on the floor, because blocks take your practice to the next level. Weekly Update 4/19/2020
Hope everyone has been staying safe! I have been staying home when I am not at work except for the every other week trip to the store. Which is mostly for food that i use a lot. Mostly items that are fresh that are easier to get at a grocery store. Any dry food items I can order online and have them sent to me since they will not spoil. I think after this is over I may sign up for Amazon prime since they offer a twitch bundle.
Got the last of my garden plants yesterday from the local nursery. Even picked up a folding trellis so I can grow some peas in the fall. I may get a second one when things are a little more normal so that I can use one for a cucumber plant. I may have to get the shade cloth out soon since it does look like the heat may be getting here sooner rather then later.
Was experimenting making a glove pattern yesterday but I think I need to get some poster board to be able to make it out of. I did find a tutorial for some using a paper that dissolves easily but I also want one that is permanent that I can use to make those other patterns. I will have to wait until next weekend to be able to get the poster board unless I find some in my office. Which I am going to do some more organizing in.
Was able to do a half hour yoga practice yesterday in my office. It felt good to get back on my mat even if it was just for some basic stretching poses. Was glad that I bought a bolster during last years cybermonday sales along with some blocks. Learned how to work on my forearm stand in dolphin using a block to get the right posture.
Picked up a house plant for my office as well to go on my yoga altar. Need to find a few other items to go on it. Already have place for a candle on it so that I can keep things safe. The essential oil candles from Bath and Body Works are amazing! I have a glass candle holder below it to stay safe. I may even get some battery powered candles to that I can do a candle light home practice.
I am going to work on some content creation today so that I can start getting some creative juices flowing. For some of it I will eventually need to get a webcam and microphone so that I can start streaming some content. I am going to create a list today of what I would need so that I can set up both a streaming set up and product photography area. Which I do want portable and need to get a grey background at some point.

DETAIL + DEPTH | Next we prep the legs and add the twist. This sequence starts with a low lunge with the front foot on a block, and a long strap around the front shin and back foot. The block will elevate the pose in general, but in particular, remind the back thigh to lift (which tends to drop in the peak pose, Parivrtta Parsvakonasana). The strap will encourage the shin to stay forward over the ankle as well as power and strengthen the back leg. (Slide 5... Yes, start at the end and swipe right this time!) With an inhale, lift the arms for Crescent Lunge. This pose gives the body an opportunity to feel the thigh stretch of the back leg. (Slide 4) With an exhale, lean forward over the front thigh. Without the help of the hands and only using the feeling sense of the body, keep the spine in line with the back leg as if still in Tadasana. Breathe here. (Slide 3) With the next exhale, turn toward the front leg, THEN bring the elbow to the outer leg. This will allow the body to find the initial twist of the spine without the use of the arms. Then, take the second hand onto the front thigh to help lift the chest of the same side. (Slide 2) Bring the hands together, using that point of contact to widen the chest and collarbones. Reach from back heel to crown of head. Stay and breathe. Approaching the end of my weekend #yogaworkshop in #hangzhou, a Chinese city famous for its #longjingtea and #westlake. Teaching 6-7 hours a day non-stop can be tiring but one of my favourite parts of teaching a workshop like this is my daily lunch time self practice.
