The Vees and Alastor sporting matching asymmetry, based on the makeover Velvette (then Vox) give Alastor in @watchmebitch's They Could Have Been Worse. Taking a picture to flaunt your captive's new look will go well... right?
The shriek this elicited omg. Iām an absolute sucker for curly-haired Alastor and I think youāre the first person to make art including the eartipping incident???? This is killing me. Theyāre all asymmetrical together š
Also, Valentino just looking earnestly happy to be there is sending me. Vox and Velvette have their Nefarious faces on, Alastor is conveying ānice tryā with just a smile, and yet Val is just like: š„° me and the besties š„°.

Saiki hearing his parents take this literally and trying to decide whether or not he should too because this could also just be another ploy to psyche him out and his bro could actually be telling the truth buT ALSO WHAT IF

There was recently a copyright infringement case in YA and I need everyone to know that the following sentence was in the legal decision:
āHot, sexy, dangerous boys, central to virtually all young adult romance novels, cannot be copyrighted.ā
āRegarding setting, the court held that both works taking place in Alaska high schools was not protectable because Alaska is a public place and setting a teen novel in a high school is a common genre convention.ā
Freeman v. Deebs-Elkenaney | Loeb & Loeb LLP
I've read the entire decision (skimming over the purely legal precedent/definitions bit) and here are some of my favorite bits:
Are you frustrated you can't leave second kudos on AO3? or third kudos? or whatever-who's-counting kudos?
Well, have I got the html for you!
Plop any of these in a comment (by copy&pasting the code) to make an author's day and show your appreciation!

My face is having uncontrollable spasms. Great. It hurts really, really, really bad.
I think part of why I have trouble explaining pain to the doctor is when they ask about the pain scale I always think āWell, if someone threw me down a flight of stairs right now or punched me a few times, it would definitely hurt a lot moreā so I end up saying a low number. I was reading an article that said that ā10ā is the most commonly reported number and that is baffling to me. When I woke up from surgery with an 8" incision in my body and I could hardly even speak, I was in the most horrific pain of my life but I said ā6ā because I thought āWell, if you hit me in the stomach, it would be worse.ā
I searched and searched for the post this graphic was from, and the OP deactivated, but I kept the graphic, because my BFF does the same thing, uses her imagination to come up with the worst pain she can imagine and pegs herĀ ā10ā³ there, and so is like, well, Iām conscious, so this must be a 5, and then the doctors donāt take her seriously. (And she then does things like driving herself to the hospital while in the process of giving birth. Probably should have called an ambulance for that one!)
So I found this and sent it to her. Because this is what they want to know: how badly is this pain affecting you? Not on a scale ofĀ ānothingā toĀ āhow Iād imagine itād feel if bears were eating my still-living guts while I was on fireā.Ā
I hate reposting stuff, but Iāll never find that post again and OP is deactivated, so, hereās a repost. I can delete this later, i just wanted to get it to you and I canāt embed images in a chat or an ask.Ā
This is possibly why it took several weeks to diagnose my fractured spine.
Pain Scale transcription:
10 - I am in bed and I canāt move due to my pain. I need someone to take me to the emergency room because of my pain.
9 - My pain is all that I can think about. I can barely move or talk because of my pain.
8 - My pain is so severe that it is difficult to think of anything else. Talking and listening are difficult.
7 - I am in pain all the time. It keeps me from doing most activities.
6 - I think about my pain all of the time. I give up many activities because of my pain.
5 - I think about my pain most of the time. I cannot do some of the activities I need to do each day because of the pain.
4 - I am constantly aware of my pain but can continue most activities.
3 - My pain bothers me but I can ignore it most of the time.
2 - I have a low level of pain. I am aware of my pain only when I pay attention to it.
1 - My pain is hardly noticeable.
0 - I have no pain.
Itās also really important to get this kind of scale to people who have chronic pain, because chronic pain drastically lowers your perception of howĀ ābadā any kind of pain actually is, and yet something like this pain scale is extremely user friendly.Ā
For example, if someone asked me how much pain Iām in at any given time, Iād say hardly any, and yet Iām apparently at a chronic 2.5, and it only goes up from there depending on the day.Ā
Thereās also a similarly usefulĀ āFatigue Scaleā
I havenāt been below a 5 on this scale for 4 yearsĀ
Hereās the fatigue scale
Fatigue scale image desc:
10: can barely move; canāt talk
9: can barely move; can talk
8: can move, but canāt do much more than watch TV
7: can watch TV and play a game on my phone simultaneously
6: can do work on my computer lying in bed
5: can get around the house, but definitely couldnāt go out
4: can run a light errand
3: can get in my 10,000 steps, making my fitbit happy
2: can do three or more activities in a single day
1: going clubbing!

Mental Health Pain Scale transcription:
MILD
1 - Everything is a-okay! There is absolutely nothing wrong. Youāre probably cuddling a fluffy kitten right now. Enjoy!
2 - Youāre a bit frustrated or disappointed, but youāre easily distracted and cheered up with a little effort.
3 - Things are bothering you, but youāre coping. You might be overtired or hungry. The emotional equivalent of a headache.
MODERATE
4 - Today is a bad day (or a few bad days). You still have the skills to get through it, but be gentle with yourself. Use self-care strategies.
5 - Your mental health is starting to impact on your everyday life. Easy things are becoming difficult. You should talk to your doctor.
6 - You canāt do things the way you usually do them due to your mental health. Impulsive and compulsive thoughts may be hard to cope with.
SEVERE
7 - Youāre avoiding things that make you more distressed, but that will make it worse. You should definitely seek help. This is serious.
8 - You canāt hide your struggles any more. You may have issues sleeping, eating, having fun, socialising, and work/study. Your mental health is affecting almost all parts of your life.
9 - Youāre at a critical point. You arenāt functioning any more. You need urgent help. You may be a risk to yourself or others if left untreated.
10 - The worst mental and emotional distress possible. You can no longer care for yourself. You canāt imagine things getting any worse. Contact a crisis line immediately.

How long was vox planning this? Also did he get any of his lawyers to proofread it, cause imagine those guys pov of this
The contract has been proofread by multiple lawyers. What are the attorney-client privilege or the ethical duty of confidentiality for if not guaranteeing that no one will yap about Vox's insanely embarrassing soul-selling kink. And you know, alongside those obligations (which I admit have questionable weight in Hell), the NDAs in their own contracts are a good belt/suspenders measure.
I feel like if you are a lawyer who is regularly engineering soul contracts for Voxtek you canāt even justifiably by shocked by this. Average workday in house at the torment nexus.
Tag yourself as this list of ābad artā features, according to a twitter fascist

the sunk cost fallacy has been my favorite fallacy for as long as I can remember. so at this point it's probably too late to pick a different one
I just heard about the recency bias, and honestly I think it's gotta be the best one ever
Everyone is saying that the bandwagon effect is the best bias, so they have to be right
I once had this one logic professor who said that appeal to authority is the best fallacy. She's an expert in logic, so she must be right.
real logical fallacy enjoyers are partial to no true scotsman. if you donāt prefer no true scotsman youāre not a real fallacy enjoyer. someone tried to tell me the backfire effect was the superior cognitive bias, which makes me even MORE sure that no true scotsman is the best
No love for the slippery slope fallacy? If we forget about that, then before we know it all our beloved logical fallacies will be gone!
We know that Facebook is brainscorching your parents and tiktok is brainscorching your cousins, but some of you refuse to admit that you got your brain scorched here. However unlike those sites there isn't an algorithm here you just make bad choices.
That's all we ever wanted. To arrive at Hell as a result of our own dubious navigation skills instead of as the result of Satan owning all the road sign companies.
"To arrive at Hell as a result of our own dubious navigation skills instead of as the result of Satan owning all the road sign companies."
This is my favorite quote of today.
The most revolutionary thing I've learned about Blackness is that our English is not at all "broken"
It was 2012 and I was a "white washed" (not real but you know what that means) junior in undergrad and an entire chapter included in this textbook was dedicated to our pidgin/dialect whichever your argument. 14 years later and the amount of borrowing with and without permission of rest of English is truly a marvel to the point where things I know damn well are just AAVE are attributed to wide ranging sources such as "Gen Z/Alpha slang" and "gay lingo" and "internet speak" in general. Our range
These are just a few of our many common grammatical rules:
Habitual "Be": In Standard English "He is working" means right now or generally. In AAVE "He be working" specifically means he works regularly or habitually, a distinction that Standard English can't make without adding extra words.
Copula Deletion: Dropping forms of the verb "to be" in places where Standard English requires them ("She tired" instead of "She is tired" or "They going" instead of "They are going")
Double Negatives: In Standard English, two negatives make a positive. In AAVE, using multiple negatives ("She ain't never going") simply adds emphasis to the negation, a common feature in many of the world's languages.
Metathesis: switching sounds within a word, the most famous example being "ask" as "aks," a pronunciation that has roots in Old English.
Remote "Been": When you say "I been knew that" the stressed "been" means you've known it for a long time, remotely in the past, which doesn't exist in Standard English without adding extra words.
Completive "Done": "I done told you already" is a way of saying the action is finished and the matter is settled with an emphasis on finality or frustration.
Subject-Verb Disagreement: In AAVE verbs are often uninflected for the third person ("She walk" instead of "She walks") to simplify conjugation.
I love being Black, we're so smart! We been developed our slice of language despite the slavery and diaspora
