awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
it’s been said before and it’s not even close to the worst thing but it sucks how our current robber barons are such philistines. like these guys aren’t even building libraries or concert halls. they can’t even pretend to enjoy art, and they don’t see any value in signaling that they appreciate art
this current batch of the fithy-rich is BORING. They're BORING. Oh you have a yacht that's bigger than anybody else's yacht but functionally no different from one of your fancy houses? BORING. You have yet another fast car? YAWN. You ate a burger but like, a special burger? whatever. FUND AN OPERA ABOUT ANOTHER RICH GUY YOU HATE, DIPSHITS. How about you put a concert hall with your name on it in every city in the US and fund their operations for the next decade, if you're so rich????? unless you're too poor to afford that????? How many people do you, personally, directly employ, and what are their salaries? Do you pay well enough to command the loyalty and willing service of any masters of their craft? It would be so easy to win the absolute love and adoration of the masses in this climate but no, they wanna build bunkers and play politics in order to save a few more miserable nickles.
@capriceandwhimsy reminds me of your rabbit hole about yachts
We tried to warn you about the "adult content" bans. Now Kickstarter is starting that shit
"It must have serious value!"
Staight up sounds like obscenity law/Miller Test-type crap.
"Fetishized imagery intended to arouse" well it's a good thing oppressed and vulnerable communities are never fetishized.
I know many of you have already liked and reblogged this post, but I'm going to attach a couple of links for resources on how to contact payment processors and whatnot. Hopefully they can get spread around a bit. It includes how to contact the payment processors, scripts, and various links to other (at the time ongoing, these websites haven't been updated in about 8 months and 1 year respectively) petitions and forms that might be useful to you.
TELL VISA, MASTERCARD, STRIPE, and PayPal to STOP
I'd also like to ask people to be willing to bring this conversation into spaces where things like "politics" aren't welcome and more forcefully draw attention to the ever growing issue of censorship. Some of you may only have those communities to draw on but we've long since run out of peaceful/polite/non-disruptive options.
The only reason why transphobes always ask “what is a woman” instead of “what is a man” is because we all know that a man is a featherless biped.
It’s 2023, women can have as many legs and feathers as they want- get with the times.
Behold! A woman!
I just googled this and… yes, it’s absolutely real.
And there are so many articles and videos and discussions. Like, the scientific community is buzzing about this.
So much research will have to be redone because the data was absolutely compromised, off by orders of magnitude, by using standard lab gloves.
The world is probably not horrifically contaminated by microplastics. Sterile laboratories, however, are contaminated by latex and nitrile gloves.
Thank God someone bothered to check.
I have a wild idea. what if we supported our claims of fact by linking to a reliable source. better yet, what if we went hogwild and just straight up linked to the actual unpaywalled study
as an ecologist, this is very interesting and I highly recommend giving the paper a read. Dont be afraid to look up terms while reading too if your worried you won't understand it. I admit ts been a while since my statistics courses in collage and needed to refresh myself on some terms. Also hurray for non pay walled research!!
For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.
Heyyy guess where I live
A local paper had some great photographs, all taken by Nicole Hester:
The day before, Rep. Justin Pearson tries to attend a Senate Committee meeting and is barred access by the Sergeant at Arms.
Lawmakers and protesters link arms as the descend the capitol steps.
Once inside the chamber, Democratic representatives continued to stand together with arms linked.
They continued standing together with arms linked as votes were cast.
Democratic representatives take a group photo protesting the redistricting.
Rep. Justin Jones burns a photo of the Confederate flag with the words, We will not go back.
And stomps the ashes.
KeShaun Pearson being escorted from the building by the Staties.
KeShaun Pearson (left) being taken into custody. Rep. Justin Pearson (right) showing his support of his brother.
Additional information: State lawmakers have been gunning for Pearson and Jones nearly their entire terms. Most notably, in 2023, the House expelled them for participating in a protest at the Capitol. Their districts had to have special elections to have them reinstated.
Pearson is one of the plaintiffs of a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the redistricting.
The city most affected by the redistricting is Memphis, where locals are fighting against xAI's data center, which has been operating with very little oversight and is poisoning the people who live there. Here is a previous post on that with more information and more sources.
UPDATE:
House Speaker Cameron Sexton has removed every member of the House Democratic Caucus from committees after after the protest! The lieutenant governor says he is looking for more ways to punish them.
Representative Justin Pearson adds, “Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on,” Pearson wrote on social media. “This move strips nearly 2 million Tennesseans from the representation they deserve in TN state leg.”
The best source I can find not behind a paywall isn't an unbiased one, but here.

This is so perfect. Except it doesn’t mention that the 10B will smear with the touch of a finger and the 10H has probably been etched into the back of the page.

it is unfortunate that there's no reason for most people to remember high school chemistry because the best analogy I have found for "the amount of energy that it takes me to initiate a task, which can be higher than the amount of energy it takes to actually complete the task" is "activation energy" and it's not precisely perfect but
yeah. and you can even include "thing that reduces the barrier to doing the task" as a catalyst/enzyme
anyway. unfortunately this does not actually clarify anything for the average person. but #ToMe it works
huge part of ADHD is that the activation energy for everything is so much friggen higher because the initial state is a lot lower. thank god for catalysts like adderall and caffeine
this emerged in my head when I was trying to drive
May I propose the fill ins?

Reblog to open a rail line from your blog to the person you reblogged this from
our beautiful rail line... (so far)
get your medals everyone
cosigned, good work everyone, have your bricks at the ready when they try it again.
I'm so so sorry to be bothering you with an ask about this but I'm struggling to find a clear answer TwT
Do just tags count as splitting off a new post for the new horrible reblogs system? Will I be fine just adding tags to yap in and making sure to reblog from OP or is that going to end up doing the same thing as reblogging with a comment?
I want you to know I spent an inordinate amount of time creating this because I'm getting multiple asks about it. This is not on you, I'm just doing this because I'm going to lose my mind otherwise. (thanks staff for posting something and then just abdicating your duty. real helpful.)
Okay. Flow chart time! Here's how it used to work (apologies I'm just making these real quick in Word for ease because this isn't my job):
You can see that no matter what anyone does in this system, all the notifications go directly back to OP (in their activity page) and OP can see all them on their original post. All notes on a post belong solely to the OP and a total of notes is displayed at the bottom. Anyone accessing any version of the post can see every note/comment/reblog etc.
Here's how it works now:
This is a lot of information, I get it, but yes OP will see your tags, but no it won't count as 'splitting off' from the original post. Only a 'reblog with comment' addition will do that.
However, if you reblog with tags from that addition, while OP will see your tags in their activity page, they will only contribute to the person who made the addition's note total.
If someone makes an addition to that person's addition, creating a reblog thread, the person who made the comment before no longer gets notifications. They now belong to the new commenter if people reblog that version. OP gets a notification in their activity page, but nothing appears on their version of the post.
If OP wanted to see any additions/tags/additions with tags that were not made on their version of the post, they would have to find a notification for the post in their activity feed and then try to backwards walk through the threads to determine where it came from. OP can no longer see everyone's tags/replies/additions simply from looking at their own post and they will not be added to the OP's post note count.
If you wanted to see how this is working in real time. Here's the notes I can see on desktop (with the notes update) from the post I made explaining this last night:
I have 16 comments, 1,317 reblogs, and 21,622 likes.
However if I view it on mobile without the update:
23 comments, 23,545 reblogs, 24,260 likes. I cannot see these on desktop. I get notifications, I see tags, but I cannot access them. I don't know who the other 7 commenters are because they commented on a different version of the post and I don't know which one. There's versions of this post going around with additions that I don't know about. From my POV it's hell.
Continue to give them polite feedback. In every conceiveable place. Don't stop.
