easy to miss that one of the reasons maternal mortality is diminished so extremely by modern medicine is that modern medicine makes it so much more possible to identify the pregnancies that will die and take you with them, or are otherwise unacceptably high risk. and then discontinue those ones safely, before it's too late.

thought about this because it's so frustrating when people argue that 'dying in childbirth' is a historical sort of event that doesn't happen nowadays (false) and therefore is irrelevant to the legal status of abortion, since it's not a real danger.

Cuppa / find music?

this is probably a bt of a long shot, but oh well!. I just discovered that the album "Locked In" by Cuppa (their only album) (2020) has been deleted from basically everywhere (i checked) (spotify youtube amazon deezer bandcamp youtube internetarchiveaudio). There were only seven songs in the album: Freshly Cut Grass, Burning Candle, Stand, Cold Feet, Smoothie, What's Next, Initiate. I previously downloaded Freshly Cut Grass, Cold Feet, and Initiate. I was able to get 30 sec clips from SongShare of What's Next and Stand. Shazam led me to a Lofi Mix video with Burning Candle. Does anyone know of any way to find and save full versions of all these songs?

A regular part of my job is trying to reach out to people who have been quietly trying to make their community a better place; the volunteers, the teachers, the fucking. People who rehabilitate injured wild owls in a Quonset hut in the woods, and to a one this is the kind of person who immediately reviles at recognition. when a government bans young people from using social media, and then categorises messenger apps like Signal and WhatsApp as "social media", they are pushing those young people toward using text messages, a fundamentally insecure form of communication. texts are not encrypted in transit and can be read by both the sender's mobile carrier and the recipient's. that also means they can be leaked in data breaches, subpoenaed, or just handed over willingly to law enforcement at the carriers' discretion.
