i just realized everybody calls me by my username on here lmao yall just so you know my name's birdie <3 (no this wasn't meant to be a Nikolai reference but it kind of is now but not fully it's mostly smth else but it's complicated yk)
writing cryptic strange fyolai is a great activity in my opinion. distracts me from my exams. also yes i am still writing the fic but it's taking me a very very long time since i have a lot to do and i'm lacking inspiration in literally everything these days. sorry about that. maybe this can make up for it ?

do i have a comfort foodā¦?
i thinkā¦ TOMATO SOUP :DDD i used to eat it every winter as a kid, and my big sister loved it too. we always had a complicated relationship and in my memories about tomato soup sheās always nice and laughing so it makes me happy :3
but i also think that this wonderful creation could be one of my comfort foods as well : the š„croissant aux amandesš„. yup as a frenchie my comfort food OBVIOUSLY has to be some kind of croissant. theyāre croissants but with almonds and almond paste in it. i used to go to the bakery and buy some with my friends in middle school after class. also it pairs very well with hot chocolate with cinnamon and i think THAT ALSO MIGHT BE A COMFORT DRINK ?? idk idk but I like food š„²

i have this very specific vision of 13 to 16 yo fyodor with his family at the beach in a flashy orange swimsuit, sitting on a towel, looking away and frowning a little because of the sun and it's very detailed. and i need to do something about it. to make something about it. write about it cos i suck at drawing. BUT IDK i tried to write it and it's never turning out the way i wanna. it's bugging me because i have so many excessively specific images/moments in my head about fyolai or one of them and i never manage to do anything about these and they ACCUMULATE in between the folds of my brain and it's ITCHING ME from inside.

hey there friend :DD !! it was VERY VERY FIRE I LOVED IT !! i arrived at 7pm, stayed until midnight and a half :p a friend invited me there and my father also came along because he really wanted to be here lmao. we saw four bands playing and their music was absolutely amazing !! i loved three out of four, and one i enjoyed a bit less (but still good !!) :) there wasn't many people, but it was in a small town so it was to be expected, and it was still great. actually, lots of parents brought their small children along with them and they were running around everywhere while the musicians were playing on stage, it was so cute lol. (also they were wearing hearing protection and so was i, the music was LOUD af) to sum it all up, i had a great evening and i discovered peak bands (and the place that hosted the festival made very good sandwiches btw)!!

i am thinking of fyodor as usual but im thinking a lot about his ability and how its honestly a miracle he isnāt crazier than he already is. Think of the soldiers that yosano had to heal over and over and how they were forced to practically die over and over and then come back. Its never said how long yosano was there and at what point she became a doctor for them but one can guess she was there for a few years, but the deaths in the war only got worse more at the end (to the point she was healing each person more than once a day) so these soldiers were forced to basically die and then get revived every day over and over to the point they went insane and tried to kill yosano for maybe a couple of years. Now think about fyodor, who has lived for possibly thousands of years, who has been forced to actually die over and over and revive over and over with no real way to die. Why do people shit on his character so much while turning around and praising people like dazai? Why is there sympathy for the soldiers while fyodor gets none? I feel like fyodor gets so much hate in the fandom because people just do not understand or care about his character when he has honestly pretty rational reason to do what he does. The fact people tried to look at him and tell him that heās wrong and that there is good in ability users when he has seen humanity at itās worst time after time after time and has seen that they will never change is crazy to me. It makes his death so much sadder because fyodor tried to save humanity, he tried so hard to fix them and at the end of it all he just loses hope. āI hate you allā¦ā Its no wonder fyodor finds freedom in death, because he knows better than anyone what it is like being unable to die, unable to be free from the constraints of life. His character is probably one of the most tragic iāve ever seen. Its so sad that no one could understand him, but its also not a surprise why. No one had seen so much of humanity like he had, didnāt know the worst more horrible bits of mankind like fyodor did. Its so sad because he never trusted anyone enough to be able to try and communicate his goals, his reasons, he has seen the most vile and has probably trusted people in the past but instead got backstabbed so now he feels like the only way he can make relationships with other people is through manipulation. He didnāt even try to explain himself when he died. He knew no one would understand anyways, so why bother? I know at first a lot of people thought that this wasnt a fitting death for him but when you look into it, i think its incredibly fitting. Its sad and rushed but it works really well. There were obviously better way that it could have been done but the best end for his character would be through death. Its like yosano said, āLosing is a human right.ā Dying is a human right. āThinking is a crime, breathing is a crime. And now he has been freed from all of that.ā His entire character makes sense considering his ability, how long he has been alive. Its a genuine miracle that fyodor is not batshit fucking insane.

I'm reminded of that one part in Frederick Douglass's autobiography where he gets to the north for the first time and assumed, since they didn't have slaves, that everyone was about as poor as non-slaveowning white southerners. And they weren't! There were poor people, sure, but there were lots of people living very comfortably or in luxury.
He mentions how angry it made him, that not only were thousands and thousands of people suffering to create luxury for a few, but that slavery wasn't even necessary for wealth to exist. That's really stuck with me.
