For the past 13 years you have been our one true love, our safest space and our dearest baby. Our dynamics and understanding of each other has shifted a lot over the years - both as a whole and between individual alters.

Throughout that time you have shown us time and time again that we are worth while, even on our worst days. You have shown us that you are willing to contend with and work through any problem that may arise. For that, I'm eternally bound and indebted to you.

Though many friend groups have come and gone, most of which we fled from when we noticed very negative patterns creeping in, you have remained our rock, our constant source of love, validation and care.

This is legitimately my job, I string pearls 40 hours a week. I cannot help but overanalyze every piece of media that includes a pearl necklace. I have gone on long rants about Martha Wayne.

Okay, so necklaces are either knotted or straight strung. Straight strung doesn't have knots separating the pearls, so there is more tension on the pearls and it's bad for them over time, but it is cheaper and looks fine in short term. So yeah, most rich people knot their pearl necklaces. There is one exception: sometimes we have a super picky Karen-type that demands their necklace with really fucking expensive pearls be straight strung because they like the look better. Properly knotted necklaces have nearly invisible knots so this is just batshit demands, btw.

So, that leaves two options: either you chock this up to comics folks not knowing anything about pearl necklaces or, the funnier option being that Martha Wayne is just one of those people that makes the most unhinged demands to feel in control and powerful.

Just to give a little more perspective after reading the story:

The sequence of events is a little jumbled in the telling above. The actual chastising from the teacher came days before the woman’s thesis, during a practice run of her presentation. This was not a spur-of-the-moment thing where she just whipped off her clothes for the sake of being angry. Chai took the time to think things through before deciding this was the way she wanted to protest. She used critical thinking and level-headedness to decide instead of becoming volatile and aggressive, she would choose non-violent protest. 

I just don’t like the way the story’s being told by others because it makes her come across as “overly-emotional” and “erratic” (as women often do in the media, because it’s easier to attribute extreme action to “hysteria”), whereas in actual news reports, she had time to think about her decision and choose the best way to handle what happened to her.
