I really wanted to talk about something I think everyone’s been through: you get all excited, start reading a new story, get attached to the characters… and then you find out the author stopped posting months ago! 😭 It always happens right when you’re in a reading slump, just trying to fall in love with something new again.

I just finished reading such a good story, but it only has 12 chapters. Then I went to check, and the last time the author updated it was back in February — and now it’s October! This always happens. When you’re in a reading slump and finally find a really interesting story about something you’re obsessed with at the moment, it either ends up being super short, or the author just stops posting after a few chapters and never continues. It’s so sad.

if you ever feel weird about leaving a comment on an old fic, just know that anytime someone comes along and starts leaving comments on my older fics (*especially* if they leave a comment every chapter as they're reading) I get legitimately giddy. especially if it's my favorite fic. like just know that I spent most of today kicking my lil feet in the air and waiting for the next comment to appear in my inbox

A kind and generous Fae is desperately trying to convince a starving guest to eat. The Guest, well aware of the rules of the Fae, is paranoid and constantly worried about falling victim to said Fae.

She didn't want to fall victim to another, especially not after escaping her own hell so recently. "I appreciate your hospitality, but I'm fine." She prays the fae doesn't get offended and deem her a guest with poor manners.

"I must insist, you are much too thin for me to believe you are fine." The fae replies with concern etched on their face in every crease and wrinkle.

She hesitates again, trying to find the right words to turn the fae down. As she goes to speak again, the fae sighs.

"I promise that you can eat the food and not need to worry about consequences, it is freely given. Afterwards, you can determine if you want to stay here or go back to your world."

She wants to keep fighting but she is so very hungry.

After what seems like hours, she finally gives in. As she finishes, she sighs and asks, "What now?"

The fae smiles softly before replying, "It is up to you, if you wish to stay here I would take you under my protection."

"And for what cost?"

"Children shouldn't have to pay for others misdeeds."
