For those who thought that this was Nintendo baiting people into posting videos for them to take down, (as I initially did, admittedly), itâs actually people posting pictures of YouTube takedown notices. Nintendo didnât bait anyone...They walked into a metaphorical garden rake.
Okay, that's funny.

if christopher nolan was really the visionary and ground-breaking director everyone claims he is he would have cast ben affleck as penelope

Since April I've felt pain on my tailbone. Can't seat anymore on hard surfaces, it hurts. It kinda flares too. Radios don't show anything (no trauma no lesion nothing on the bone) which isn't good. I am being referred to a rheumatologist
The Odyssey but retold as a low-stakes modern adventure of one guy out with his girlfriend leaving the bar with his buddies to do just one (1) simple thing real quick, it'll take like 15 minutes tops, he'll be right back, but then some bullshit happens and the trip keeps getting more complicated as more bullshit keeps happening while he just tries to get back to the bar because he promised his girlfriend that he'd get back and he knows that she's still there because she told him she'd wait there.
And by the time he finally gets back it's almost 3 am and the bar is about to close while she's sitting there stone cold sober, surrounded by 5 drunk guys unsuccessfully trying to convince her to give up on waiting for him and go home with one of them instead. And the guy shows up to proceed to beat the shit out of them before explaining himself to her like hey sorry bullshit kept happening, my phone fell into a storm drain and my wallet got stolen when I was trying to find someone who'd borrow me a phone so I could call and
His girlfriend had been fending off the 5 drunk guys for most of the evening by explaining that even if she was going to ditch her boyfriend, she can't possibly leave without finishing her beer, which she is keeping perpetually full via careful sleight of hand where she's just pouring it back and forth into and out of the pitcher.
However the drunk guys are also drinking, and eventually she can't afford to buy another pitcher for the table so she can't keep up the ever-full beer glass trick. At this point she has to resort to setting up the pool trick shot that she's never seen anyone but her boyfriend pull off, and says she'll leave with whoever manages the shot first.
That buys her another hour or so and then, finally, her boyfriend makes it back. He looks like shit, hair down and just a mess, he's wearing an entirely different jacket that he got from an alley, and barely recognizableâespecially to 5 guys who've been drunk for hours now. He lurks for a minute, finds out what's going on, and proceeds to pull off the trick shot first try. Throws the jacket off, fixes his hair with a hair tie his girlfriend lends him, finally looks like himself again, and THEN beats the shit out of them with the pool cue.
yuh i was there, that's how it happened

oomf talking about how alys is a manifestation of harrenhal and the old gods who intentionally seeks out and calls to the targiest targs ever, the two valyrian retvrnersâŠ. seducing the scions of the line that burnt her, almost fattening them up for their foretold murder suicideâŠ. blood sacrifices for the blood lake in the blood lands by the blood castle⊠unlocks the alys/aemond relationship so much for it to really be a thematic conversation about the hubris and cultural normbreaking of the targaryens butting up against the riverlands as this great churning maw of death, even as she forms a kind of twisted care for himâŠâŠ alysssss đđđ
i made a post like this before but I can't find it now. so. I'll just redo it.
What's the first "big news story" you remember from when you were a kid?
It's something I love to ask mixed-aged groups sometimes because I think it's really interesting to see the responses. I've gotten answers from the Olympics of [whatever year] to Watergate to more recent stuff from my niblings.
My first news thing I remember is the OJ Simpson trial. I vaguely remember watching the news with my grandparents before that, but that's the first story I remember, in part because my second grade teacher had us go play so she could watch the verdict đ
I remember walking down the street and seeing a sign protesting George W. Bushâs war on Iraq, so I think that.
How long did it take them to figure out that it could actually be done? That's staggering.
[Video is titled, "four cellists play Ravel's Bolero." It's on Classic fM. They all play on the same cello, with the drum part is played by plucking strings. Two of them do small comedy fights in the background between their parts, trying to take the other's place beside the cello. It's a pretty tight fit, and at some points there are four bows almost touching as they all saw the strings.
Text on the screen reads,
four cellists play Ravel's Bolero ... on just one cello. Bolero has long been a test of endurance for snare drummers, but here, every part is played by a cellist. With only one instrument in sight, Wiener Cello Ensemble 5 + 1 leap to the task, involving a fair amount of acrobatics! Watch it all unfold ...

Literally where I stand in this âhistorical accuracyâ discourse lol
Remember old Hollywood historical movies that werenât accurate yet still served? We need to have that back.
