So uh….some dude apparently recreated Adobe Photoshop feature-for-feature, for FREE, and it runs in your browser.
Anyway, fuck Adobe, and enjoy!
Give credit to the 30-year-old who worked on this for free and offers this service for free!
WHAT?!
I study graphic design and my tutor recommended and used this in his classes at art college last year, it’s so good it has SO many features for free, I really recommend it, even if you’re just trying to learn the basics of PS, such a wonderful thing <3
I use this and it’s fucken great. No bullshit. Really works. Sometimes the world is kind.
hey good luck today with whatever u got going on. u got this. and i hope something really nice happens to u today. u deserve it.

Look, we all know this is true. But there isn't a SOURCE for this, and the graph itself is basically illegible beyond "ooh colors". If we want to be good stewards of our informational resources, we need to cite our sources.
From a reverse image search, I found the website Show Your Stripes, run by the University of Reading in the UK, which is likely where the above graph originated. It provides temperature data for various regions of the world from approximately 1900-2025. For example, here are graphs for Canada, India, and Papua New Guinea:
All clearly show a sharp rise in temperature beginning around approximately the 1980s, which corresponds with the graph in OP's post. But now we know where this data came from, and we can verify its validity accordingly.

Reblog if you're black tumblr.
You don’t have to be black, it just means you support us, you stand by us and your for us.
Like a new friend!
I get all the headcanons about touch-starved Grace, and Rocky learning to appreciate touch because of Grace or whatever, and, like, they do hug twice in the movie (I don't think they hug in the book, however).
But I think it's a bit sad that there's very little consideration for Grace being touch-averse. I'm not saying that all asexual people are (obviously), but there's a big chunk of the community that is. Book Grace not only shows no interest in romance, but also nearly no interest in physical touch. There's not even a point where he reminisces about ever touching another human again, or if there is any of that (and I'm simply not remembering), it's so minor and so in passing that it's clearly not a huge concern for him.
I feel like for people who aren't touch-averse, this is as foreign a concept as asexuality is for sexual people. It's sort of unfathomable that someone could go through life without physical touch most of the time and somehow be healthy/happy. But, like, not all touch-aversion stems from trauma or some kind of anxiety. Sometimes people just... don't like it.
I, personally, can go a whole year without touching almost anyone and I don't think twice about it. A hug here or there maybe, but those are usually more out of obligation than not.
And the reason I think it's sad that Grace is so rarely interpreted this way is because ignoring such a possibility erases so much of the comfort and beauty his life on Erid provides him.
The fact that there's a "wall" between him and Rocky isn't necessarily a hindrance or some tragic circumstance. Just as it's not sad that Grace doesn't get a romance, his friendship with Rocky isn't lessened by the fact that they can't touch one another, outside of dire circumstances. The closest Book Grace gets to actually desiring to touch Rocky (outside of for any scientific reasons, because Book Grace is a science freak) is when Rocky is healing and he places his hand on the xenonite between them before deciding the motion is too dramatic (this obviously doesn't include him dragging Rocky around to save his life, which was a necessity). This was a far more intimate gesture than a simple fist bump, and Grace immediately decided it was too much. Yet, it didn't stop their friendship from defining him, from inspiring him to go back for Rocky, to love Rocky as much as he does.
Rocky and Grace's relationship isn't hindered by the fact that they can't touch one another. I don't think it bothers either one of them, to be honest, and yet they mean so, so, so much to each other.
Much as romance isn't the end all be all of relationships, physical touch isn't the ultimate representation of intimacy either.
I think that's another reason why Grace means so much to so many people. He exists in a manner that is contradictory to so much of what people think it means to BE human--he is a foreigner on his own planet--and yet he still saved his race, loved earth and humanity deeply. Only, in then end, to find a home where his default living situation and friendships existed within the comfort zones that make him happy. He gets to teach kids, he has his best friend, he has his own space free of physical touch, and he's happy.
For a lot of people like Grace, this is the most wonderful happy ending he could have had. He got to leave behind the expectations of a people he loves, but doesn't belong with, to be with those who respect him and who he is, and likely don't judge him for it.
There's so little representation in media of asexuality as it is, and so to get someone with asexual behavior who's also unconcerned with physical touch? It just... makes so many of us that feel foreign in our own communities feel seen in a way that we never are. And the fact that Grace exhibits these behaviors without any apparent shame or remorse, or even acknowledgment, is legendary.
Okay but teacher Grace on Erid having very little say in which kids get filtered into his class, though he is aware that the selection process is super specific and that most of the kids he gets are high performers with star academics and some even with influential parents. He isn't quite comfortable enough with Eridian culture yet to object to the selection process and make it more inclusive, however. That is, until he learns about the special needs kids.
Obviously, there are Eridian kids with special needs, and a few of them even filter into his classes. But one specific type of special needs kid has never shown up in his classes, and the only reason he even learned of the condition is because Rocky and Adrien's first pebble has the condition.
It's initially quite a struggle for them to deal with, and Grace sympathizes of course, because the child will apparently have huge learning and academic struggles and will likely never be able to live on their own. That is, until he learns the details of the disability.
Basically, it's a condition where the part of the Eridian brain that gives them their eidetic memory isn't fully developed, and so these kids just... can't remember things the way most eridians do. And in a culture where an eidetic memory is the norm, all things cater to that, so not having that is actually a massive disability.
But Grace is like, so... this kid just learns the same way a human does, or something like. Which is nothing new to him, though he is somewhat boggled at how much Rocky and Adrian struggle with their infant and their "slow" learning curve, even as far as initial developmental stages. Grace, on the other hand, simply treats the kid the same way he would a human infant, and Rocky and Adrien are impressed with his patience.
But, through this, it occurs to Grace that there must be other kids out there with this disability who likely aren't getting the attention and chances in life that they deserve, because Eridian culture is particularly hostile toward this disability, and actively views those with it as unable to function in regular society.
So Grace demands that a special course be put together where he teaches kids with this disability specifically. Rocky is hesitant, as most kids with this disability are home schooled and kind of... kept shut away. But Grace insists and as one of Erid's saviors, he gets what he wants eventually.
His first class is super small, maybe only three kids because so few parents were willing to advertise that their children have this disability. And because of the stigma around it, even those who agreed to it are super unsure and want to be present during the lessons, perhaps paranoid about the impression it will leave on Savior Grace, who is so accustomed to only teaching the most gifted students.
But Grace knows exactly how to deal with these kids. Some of them have varying degrees of function when it comes to their memory banks, which isn't so unlike teaching kids on earth. And so Grace is able to introduce all these tools and teaching techniques that were previously unheard of on Erid (though very normal on Earth) like having textbooks for reference with you at all times and having strategies that are less focused on memorization for understanding, and providing these kids with tools like calculators and teaching them the art of taking notes to look back on, etc etc.
Suddenly, with all these tools that most Eridians don't need, these kids are learning at a much faster rate, and succeeding with the help of all their little tools. And because so many normal eridians are ignorant of Grace's actual biology, it's shocking to them that Savior Grace doesn't have an eidetic memory either (shocking to everyone but Rocky anyway)--that his brain functions quite similarly in capacity to these "disabled" children.
Once this news gets around, suddenly there's more kids in his special classes, and there's all kinds of discourse being inflamed because the real reason these kids can't live on their own or function is lack of support from Eridian society.
If Savior Grace, who is well respected as a genius in his own right amongst the Eridians, can function so successfully, they why can't these kids?
I dunno, I just think it's an interesting premise.
Shout out to all the Black ppl that can no longer participate directly in the fandom they love because of the stresses of racism 👍🏾 you contain multitudes of value and I'm sorry that the color of your skin and the power of your voice makes people not want to acknowledge that.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT
genuinely wild to me when I go to someone's house and we watch TV or listen to music or something and there are ads. I haven't seen an ad in my home since 2005. what do you mean you haven't set up multiple layers of digital infrastructure to banish corporate messaging to oblivion before it manifests? listen, this is important. this is the 21st century version of carving sigils on the wall to deny entry to demons or wearing bells to ward off the Unseelie. come on give me your router admin password and I'll show you how to cast a protective spell of Get Thee Tae Fuck, Capital
Share the knowledge
Okay, here we go! I'm gonna try and put this in order from least to most technical knowledge required. I'm not responsible if you accidentally create SkyNet etc.
Level 1: browser extensions
This one is basically impossible to get wrong, or at least to get wrong badly enough that it causes any problems.
Get Firefox, or a Firefox fork like Waterfox. If you use a fork, make sure it's one that will let you use add-ons. On a PC, pretty much any Firefox fork will take add-ons, but on mobile devices, many don't. Iceraven is one that does.
Get the add-ons uBlock Origin, YouTube Sponsorblock (if you use YouTube), and FBCleaner (if you use Facebook).
uBlock Origin comes with a built-in list of filters to block ads and trackers, but you can add your own filters to block any specific element of a website you don't like. You know those goddamn floating frames on fandom.com sites that block half the screen? Now you can zap 'em.
Sponsorblock uses crowdsourced timestamps to automatically skip sponsor spots and self-promotion in YouTube videos. Never listen to anyone say "hit like and subscribe" or "Raid Shadow Legends" again.
FBCleaner hides all content from your feed except posts from people, groups, and pages you've actually chosen to follow.
Level 2: leaving enshittified services
The software that's become standard over the years in a lot of fields is steadily selling more of your data, showing you more ads, and pushing you to buy more expensive subscriptions. Time to tell them to get fucked.
Dump Adobe apps for Affinity or Krita. Drop Microsoft for LibreOffice. Change your default search engine from Google to DuckDuckGo or Qwant. Use OpenStreetMaps instead of Google or Apple Maps.
Level 3: network-level DNS fuckery
DNS, or Domain Name Service, is the thing that tells your computer where www.website.com is actually located. By hacking your network's DNS you can force it to tell your devices that ad-hosting domains don't exist at all. Some of the steps on this one can get pretty technical, but because you're doing all the difficult stuff on a dedicated device, you can't really fuck up anything that seriously.
Get yourself a Raspberry Pi (a cheap older one like a model 3B will work just fine for this purpose), and follow a guide like this one to get it set up running AdGuard Home. AdGuard, like uBlock, has built-in filter lists, but you can also add your own if there are specific domains you want to block.
Once it's up and running, you'll need to change the DNS settings on your router to point to your AdGuard service. This is different for every router but will always start with logging into the admin panel with a password printed on a little sticker somewhere on the router.
With that done, every time a device on your home network looks for ads.website.com, it'll get back a message that says "sorry, can't find it", so it won't be able to load any ads.
Level 4: Android-specific DNS fuckery
Because AdGuard runs on your home network, it can't block ads on your phone when you're away from home - and what's worse, your phone will sometimes remember the addresses it got when you were out and about, and ads will get past your AdGuard wall even when you're home.
To avoid this, get AdAway for DNS-based ad-blocking directly on your phone. The easy, but less seamless, way of using AdAway is the "local VPN mode", which doesn't require you to do any mucking about with your phone's operating system.
Level 5: automated media piracy
The best way to stop seeing ads on all your streaming services is to stop using streaming services. There are loads of ways to do this, but the best ones involve setting up what's called an "arr stack" (Google that for setup guides) along with nzbget and a usenet account. Most of the time you'll want to set this stuff up on a dedicated device - an old laptop gathering dust in the closet is a great option, or you can grab something used from a charity shop or a local electronics recycler.
The great thing about usenet is that unlike with torrents, you don't have to do any sharing from your computer, so you're in a lot less legal jeopardy - legally speaking, distributing pirated content is waaayyy more serious than accessing it. I pay about £3 a month for a secure, high-bandwidth usenet service.
Once you start getting your own collection of media on your own computer, use the open-source media library manager Jellyfin to browse and play things from basically any device.
Oh, and don't be a dick. Pirate all you want from big corporations, but please pay independent small-time creators for their work.
Level 6: fucking with Android
Android phones are a lot more locked-down than they used to be, but depending on the device you own you can still do a lot of messing around under the hood. Note that if you get something wrong while doing this, there is always the possibility that it will turn your device into a paperweight.
Before you buy a device, check where it sits on the Bootloader Unlock Wall of Shame. Once you've bought it, check the xda-developer forums for guides on how to unlock it and "root" it (gain admin access) with Magisk.
Once Magisk is installed, you can add modules to do all sorts of cool stuff, including using AdAway in "root mode" which makes it basically invisible.
You can also install YouTube ReVanced, which will do all the ad- and sponsor blocking stuff we took care of in your Windows browser a few paragraphs ago. Be careful: there are a lot of fake sites out there pretending they're associated with the ReVanced project which might be injecting malware into their downloads. This Reddit post has the official instructions and links.
Also, try out the modded version of Facebook from APKmoddone, which will block most of the same shit as the FBcleaner add-on from earlier. There's always a possibility that modified apps like this are doing something dodgy, but I've never had any issues with this one personally.
Level 7: fucking with Windows
This one is scary because it can seriously fuck up your shit if something goes wrong, but some really cool people have actually made it very simple to strip all the bloat, ads, and spyware out of Windows. The tool I use is ReviOS. Start reading at https://www.revi.cc/docs. Basically, you'll need to download a tool called AME Wizard and the ReviOS "playbook" that tells AME what to do. Read the documentation before you do any of this.
Level 8: switching to Linux
I'm not going to pretend this is an option for everyone. Half the software I use on a weekly basis isn't available on Linux. But if you can switch? Do it. These days, Ubuntu - one of the most popular flavours of Linux - is built with people switching from Windows in mind, and a lot of things will be pretty intuitive. It also has great documentation and a huge community you can go to for help if you're confused about stuff.
And that, friends, is a comprehensive approach to banishing the demons of capitalism from your home!
Something I want to add:
You don't even need a pihole for it anymore. You can throw "dns.adguard-dns.com" into your android phone under Network (or Connections) > Private DNS > Private DNS Provider Hostname in your Settings app. You can also set your router up to use it via the IPs:
94.140.14.14
94.140.14.15
Link to to source for that:
Create your ad-blocking DNS server that will protect your personal data, prevent tracking and allow you to control access to specific conten
That will depend on your router, just search "How to set up custom DNS for (router name & model)". You can usually find that info on a sticker on the router itself. The model name is often nonsense like CM1000.
For switching to Linux:
If you're worried about software not working, and the software isn't something with work-related requirements attached, you can usually find alternatives. Alternativeto.net is a good place to start with that.
AlternativeTo lets you find apps and software for Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android, Android Tablets, Web Apps, Online, Windows Tab
If you're a gamer, protondb.com will let you see how well your specific game runs on Linux. Ranks are from:
Borked - Does Not Work At All, or works so poorly that you cannot play the game at all
Bronze - Sort of works, but with glitches that don't exist on Windows that affect gameplay
Silver - Works, but requires tinkering, and has glitches that don't affect gameplay, or requires heavy tinkering to get running
Gold - Works, requires mild tinkering (usually just selecting another proton version from the drop down)
Platinum - Works out of the box
Native - Is made for Linux
Other common alternatives:
Spotify: I've heard good things about Tidal, but haven't personally used it (I use a cloud storage service and local files for music)
Google drive: Nextcloud. You can find free servers on their website
Google office: OnlyOffice has a desktop/mobile app, and most of the features
Gmail: Free providers aren't common, but disroot is one of them. They also offer quite a few services. Personally I use mailbox.org, but they do cost $36 a year minimum
Google search: Disroot has a searx instance, startpage.com exists, and you'd be surprised at how far you can get by setting your default search engine to Wikipedia. Marginalia's also good, but selective about what they index (mostly indieweb stuff)
I, admittedly, run almost everything through Emacs nowadays, so there may be better alternatives now.
(Directed generally) Also remember that in most cases the problems are Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Microsoft. If you find a small project that isn't perfect, remember that those five companies are probably worse in every way imaginable. Look for an alternative, but for the love of whatever you hold dear, Google is *not* a better alternative.
You’ve heard of the Roaring 20s........

behold, the waylay!
and a new arthur design
and my darling waiter
i think john's envy of arthur is a thing that is never really addressed or even all that prominent but has the potential to cast things in an interesting light. I can go ahead and do this in a cutesy season-by-season way that makes for a fun list but requires me to stretch a little bit but- who am i kidding thats exactly what im going to do.
Season 1 - Envy borne of Entitlement
John's behavior in season 1 is hard to write on top of because it is both intentionally chaotic due to John's early development as a king of madness and also just. Early season wank. The beard has yet to be grown in. its scraggly and patchy in places, and while effort will be made after the fact to fill those gaps later on, the patches remain.
But for the sake of analysis I'm going to have to decide which things he says are genuine, and which things are lies. Through this i come to an understanding of s1 John as a confused, lost, but importantly, deeply entitled person who believes that his inability to kill and dominate at his leisure is a grave injustice.
Like its not just that he thinks he should have a body. He thinks he should have this body. He was given other options, but when they didn't bow to his will he just killed them. This vessel was supposed to be easier to control, but for reasons he can't remember, John didn't get what he wanted.
Arthur is beneath him. He shouldnt have survived, be allowed to keep this body, when John wants it as well. It doesnt make sense and it pisses John off, and that frustration leaks through whenever Arthur exerts control over their situation.
He's like this little dude from the 'Femenazi stole my ice cream' gif. His envy comes from a place of believing that he is inherently more deserving of power, such that anything that might resist his domination is acting violently against him.
The fact that he doesnt remember who he is is sort of immaterial. He doesn't even know he's the King in Yellow when he decides to let them get captured in full understanding that doing so might cause the end of humanity. He'd rather see the world burn with him in it than tolerate Arthur having control when he doesn't.
Then the season finale happens. John is given an opportunity to 'correct' the mistake of his powerlessness, and chooses not to.
This is, specifically, because of his interactions with Lily. He states that she was unique because he had no use for her. Lily didn't have anything he thought he deserved, anything he wanted to possess, anything he thought he could take away from her.
John saw himself as a thing that is supposed to be obeyed, a temporarily inconvenienced entity of incredible power, and here he was at his most powerless receiving unconditional kindness.
It was in that neutral, non-competitive space that Lily was able to give. She gave him a name. She gave him care. She gave him a new perspective. Things he didn't ask for or understand, but could recognize were precious because they were given freely.
Season 2 - Envy borne of Shame
With this new perspective comes a complete upheaval of John's entire worldview, not helped by the sudden influx of memories that confirm that he has always been kind of an asshole.
John can either cling to his old view, the view of a god who deserves to do whatever he wants to whoever he wants because he can, or of a wounded ant who deserves kindness and respect simply because he needs it.
John decides he believes the latter, which means he needs to confront the parts of himself that he now finds intolerable. He wants to explore these feelings, these strange misshapen beliefs that dont come naturally to him, and constantly feel himself slipping back into what he was before.
Not helping this transition is the presence of a human who does have these qualities innately. Who is (seemingly) able to know right from wrong without question. Arthur throws it in John's face that he cant just forget what he was, and John doesn't like it but he does agree.
He wants another shot at being human. Whether that means he planned to take Arthur over again or was genuine in his goal to find a mutually beneficial solution, that's not really the point. At this point he has identified that there is some quality to Arthur that he doesnt have, and it needs to be addressed before John can soothe the ache of his own past.
I think thats why John gets so angry when Arthur tries to appeal to anything's better nature. He doesn't understand his own morals right now, and is envious that Arthur does. Why is it okay to beat an old human woman to death, but not an infant monster? Why does he want to befriend denizens of the dreamlands when he was hostile to them in his own world? Why do cute random animals have his immediate sympathy, when John had to bicker with him for days before admitting they were friends?
Arthur is human, and John isn't. He can chalk up every strange thing Arthur does to his humanity, something that John covets, and as season 2 rolls on that tension becomes thicker and thicker.
But then, the reveal. Arthur has done something monstrous in his past. He failed his daughter in the worst way. Failing to be a father is like failing to be a man, and failing to be a man is failing to be human. Arthur doesn't know what it means to be human either.
And like. What a delicious, soothing betrayal that is, right? Like its like a social media influencer being caught with their pants down. he's been baffled and insecure about the things he doesn't understand, only for arthur's humanity to be a sham. There is no special quality Arthur has that John doesnt. They're both monsters. What a relief.
But with that relief comes indignance, because now whenever John feels that envy, that self loathing about the thing he was, it's like Arthur is tricking him. He's being a hypocrite. Demanding basic decency is rich coming from the likes of him.
The Madness is an interesting episode that I revisit often because John's behavior in it is so... strange. On the first listen it comes out of nowhere. At this point in the story we dont know that John was bullshitting through season 1 and this random aggression seems to come out of nowhere.
But on the rewatch its pretty clear that John was constantly feeling inferior because of his lack of moral compass. He doesn't get really hostile until Arthur tries to defuse. Before he was insecure, afraid of being revealed, but once Arthur professes their friendship and offers to let the topic drop, John can't fucking handle it! Everything he knew was wrong, he had no idea what he was doing, and here is Arthur acting like he knows any better!
He's offended by the 'facade' of Arthur's empathy for him. The idea that Arthur would give him trust or friendship, imperfect as they both are, is infuriating because John knows he's never done the same. Hell he might be planning on betraying Arthur just thirteen seconds ago, and is now confronted with the realization that that is also kind of a dick move!
So he hides that wound. He drags Arthur down to his level, he mocks him for the very notion of trying to give each other grace. He insists, truthfully or not, that he doesn't actually give a shit and was planning to kill Arthur all along. They have a big stupid fight and then are stuck in a pit that John both literally created as the King in Yellow and figuratively created by turning against Arthur at the worst possible moment for no good reason.
As they're escaping, Arthur stops to give water to another prisoner. He claims that he is doing so to restore his own humanity, and John is similarly annoyed by the concept. But once its done, once they're both out and John is tentatively trying to appeal to him again, thats when John decides to share something about himself. He tells Arthur about lily. He gives for no other reason than that he has something to give.
Season 3 - Envy of people who are capable of making coherant lists
This is an arthur season so im skiping it whoop whoop she DOOP (feel free to write the yellow part of this essay in the tags yourself its a fun choose your own adventure)
Season 4 - Envy borne of Fear
I have a lot to say about season 4. I've had to rewrite this part like six times because I keep going off on tangents. season 4 is really really good and there are lots of things to say about it and how its legacy affected perception of the show moving forward. But I'm not doing that. We're not discussing anything else about season 4 but the envy thing. Here we go.
John is very afraid in season 4. He pretends that he feels trapped. He pretends that he's jealous. He pretends to care about doing the right thing. But its all bullshit. Its 100% bullshit, because the only thing that is actually true of John is that he is very afraid in season 4.
He has a lot of reasons to be afraid. Even if he succeeds in his end of the deal, even if they get to run away to england or whatever, Kayne can still drop on in throw the bone cathedral in his face. Everything can blow up at any minute, and the least of his concerns would be getting dragged back to the dark world.
This is not helped by the fact that he is also losing his mind. He cant remember properly, he's having trouble focusing, there are a lot of very important plates in the air, and he keeps forgetting why they're there.
A lot is said about John's 'jealousy' towards Oscar, and while we all have fun with the idea that he was just a clingy fleshmate, it is more true that Oscar was just in his way.
But I don't think you can completely throw out the envious reading of his behavior. Everything John has can go up in smoke at any moment. His bond with Arthur is one devastating revelation away from being shattered forever. John has everything to lose, and then has to watch as Arthur prepares a new buddy who can do everything John can and hasn't just come back from an indeterminate murder spree.
Again theres this thing of who Arthur deems worthy of his sympathy. To John Oscar is a roadblock to his mission, a mission that if failed will send him back to super hell. but he's also sort of his replacement. John is seeing for the first time that his utility to Arthur is easily outsourced. That there are potentially lots of people who want a piece of this thing he has with Arthur, and those people can do what John is struggling to do because of his lapses in memory.
At the end of the day, Oscar's violence was human. Arthur's mistakes were human. Noel's trauma is human.
But John's isn't. The things he did were far worse than anything Arthur or Oscar did, and the reason he's in pain isn't because he was tormented, but because he was the tormentor.
Arthur, Oscar, Noel, and Marie are all humans. John is not. And the repeated reminders of that farce keep making him angry. It makes him want to lash out, to throw his toys out the pram and just be a monster, to make the annoying men who wont shut up and might take Arthur away disappear.
The ending of season 4 to me isnt the last episode, but the first episode of season 5. That last fight out in the rain, where John finally acknowledges that he has no idea what he's doing, he's lost, he's hurt, and he has no more excuses for failing to be human.
He claimed that he felt stifled, and then Arthur introduced him to Noel. He claimed that he hated being treated like a passenger, then immediately balked at the idea of actually taking control. He claimed to only care about finding the greystone, and then they found it, and then he chose to do something monstrous anyway.
And then Arthur says:
Seasons 5-6 - Freedom from Envy
I don't think its a coincidence that following Arthur's assertion, they never have a fight like that again. I think at the heart of all John's confusion and angst is this guilt that he's not living up to an ideal that Arthur, Noel, or Lily would expect from him. He decides that he isn't human, could never have been human, and that the answer all along was just to change his behavior.
He stops looking at other people, stops assuming that they have some insight into goodness he lacks. No one is complete. We all leave this world mid sentence before taking the last bite.
The way that John defends himself when the bone cathedral finally is revealed is interesting to me. You can kinda hear how he keeps sliding back into those insecurities. He tries to imply Arthur would do the same, but then stops himself. He tries to blame Arthur for hurting him, then stops himself.
But the thing he lingers on, the true thing, is that it wasn't really him. He was in a space where he was scared and angry, and a being more powerful than he was took advantage of him. He may not think he deserves forgiveness for that, but he is able to stand up and say 'its not me, im not going to be that.'
There's still guilt, theres still pain, theres still the vast amount of damage he caused. But he's not envious anymore. He doesn't covet humanity as this ideal he can never achieve.
and now its like 3 in the morning so im not gonna type anymore. no conclusion. blegh.
