When was your last shower? -Showers Jim
Wouldn’t you like to know, weather boy
Now the aftermath will ring with songs you've sung
All of our words sent home in boxes
I fought with tooth and nail before the flag had flown
But you were already gone
I'll swear that I loved you
I'll swear that I loved you
I'll swear that I loved you
I swear, I swear
Icebergs near the shore is Newfoundland, Canada
@seeingredcedar
Trying to keep your footprint as low as possible is a great way to self-destruct.
And I'm not saying this to people who take two hour showers during international flights while shoving red meat into their mouth. I'm saying this to my fellow activists who feel conflicted about heating their home on fossil fuels even though they don't have any other options (and struggle to afford it).
Like, we can talk about how 'consumer choice' is never going to save the planet and stuff, but more importantly: You are not a sin. Your basic needs deserve to be met. You deserve to be warm and filled with food that satisfies you and you deserve to see your friends.
We are not fighting to save 'the planet', that's a piece of rock. We want to save ecosystems and plants and animals, including people. You are part of that. Don't leave yourself out of the list of creatures that deserve to thrive.
i love my little cousin to death because he’s at that little kid stage where he has absolutely no speech filter so i know EXACTLY what type of shit his conservative mom has been feeding him. kid pulled our other cousin aside and went “DID YOU KNOW ICARUS LOOKS LIKE A BOY BUT HES ACTUALLY A GIRL?” (he also has yet to master volume control) and it’s so fucking funny because his mom acts all polite and friendly to my face only for her son to instantly expose who she actually is. king shit. unintentional ally
TEARS IN MY EYES HE DID IT AGAIN. he essentially yelled out “whoever speaks first is a faggot” (bc their parents were trying to get them to be quiet so he decided to make it a game.) and his dad went to reprimand him for it and the little guy went “but you say it all the-“ before his dad cut him off by going “no, i’ve never said it” i’m obsessed with this little dude consistently outing how bigoted his parents are without even realizing he’s doing it 😭
the context for the first thing is that op is a trans person named icarus but i 100% thought it was some weird conservative conspiracy about a transgender icarus From The Myths and i was trying to figure out what part of the wing thing made them a woman.
I thought op was talking about icarly for a second and then i realized i read icarus wrong lmaoo
op disabled reblogs so here
It's so hard to come to that conclusion though, like at this point unalive is a part of gen Z culture. It's just using a word, they're not even thinking about talking on TikTok or YouTube anymore, they're just talking. It's a lot like people getting mad over AAVE because it's not grammatically correct and yes it's not, but AAVE is a cultural usage of English, a dialect if you will. They use it because their friends and family use it, everyone talks that way. Nobody thinks about grammar when speaking AAVE. It's actually kind of offensive if you try to correct someone. It's like that with unalive too. It's a clashing of culture, we don't understand it because we see it as it was formed, a response to a shitty half ass language filter, not as it is used, which is just another word for kill, death, or died. I really think this one is just not a big deal enough to fight. I think that teacher in the first part, while I agree with the sentiment and find the story funny, it's also in my opinion not about maturity but just a culture thing.
From working with children, the way kids who use unalive react when they hear someone say kill or suicide, it's not just slang or comparable to minoritised dialects, it's self-censorship, active and deliberate with fear of consequences built into it.
The idea of being punished by an invisible force for saying a bad word is literally something I was terrified of in Catholic school and it’s creepy that corporate sponsors are living in kids’ heads the way God and Satan lived in ours.
The Time is 7:50 pm on a hot summer Tuesday
You're sitting in on the Valley Flyer on a Ticket to Northampton. The scenery outside the train is green and full of nature. Around you are 9 people of interest. A girl Loading her bike onto the train, a blue haired woman crocheting a sweater, a character of indeterminate gender reading a book, 2 young boys playing on their Nintendo DS, a ghost, a butch attempting to open her watercolor set, a man pointing a camera out the window and a little old lady muttering to herself. Beneath your seat lies a backpack, inside are 3 novels, a photo of John Lennon, Mineral Water and a laptop.
What do you do?
@sonar-taxlaw you walk up to the ghost, it vanishes before your eyes, but before it vanishes you can see it is wearing a suit, had long hair and a tattoo on the right arm of a rose
@arkynwolf you look on the ground and see a business card, in it you recognize the face, the ghost was named Janet and used She/they pronouns, she owned a pottery studio in New Haven
@edhelwing The train shakes and your backpack falls over revealing your books to the cabin, they are a copy of the Death and Life of Great American Cities, Murder on the Orient Express and the first Percy Jackson Book. The passenger reading the book puts down their book during the shake, allowing you to see its title: "A treasury of Irish Fairy and Folk Tales"
Do you
>attempt to clean up your backpack
>aid the butch in opening her watercolors
>talk to the old lady
>try to learn more about the ghost
>ask the passenger about the fay
>do something else(type it in)
@curseyournarrativeandmoisture the passenger seems flustered as you approach them but quickly puts themself together. They inform you that the fay are native to Ireland but came to New England in the 70s, supposedly the train stops in one of the Fae towns and they plan to find out where the fae town is and document it in the novel they are writing. It is now 8:15 and you know a lot more about fairies and nothing about the passenger
@fishofthewoods @parker-d-bloodrose as you leave the passenger you see that the butch has once again begun trying to open her watercolor set and decide to help her. You notice that she is seemingly trying to pry it open despite the lock on the case. It appears she lost the key to the case. Something made clear by her curses. Then you spot the key to the case, it's lying on the floor under the seat behind the butch! You grab the key from under the seat and present it to the butch, she seems grateful but still reserved. (:
@v0gons As you leave the butch, shegrabs a paper from her bag to begin painting. That reminds you, your bag is still a mess on the floor. You go to clean it up when you see that while your books are fine and you can put them back in the backpack, the mineral water has fallen and poured over your laptop!
@mack-anthology-mp3 You quietly go up to the butch and startle her as you ask if she can help with your laptop. As a result of her thanks for the help with the key, she agrees to take a look, even though she is on vacation right now. She is apparently a computer repair lady. When she gets over to your bag, she tells you she can't help right now, but gives you an address in Northampton and says she can help you out at her Girlfriend's house
@mack-anthology-mp3 She begins to tell you about how she met her Girlfriend in College and then they both moved to New York after College. She fell in love with the city but after a year in New York, her girlfriend had grown tired of life in New York and Decided to move to Northampton with money She had been saving for the past 3 months. The Butch tells you that she hasn't seen her girlfriend since she left for Northampton and while they had been texting, she hasn't heard from her girlfriend since last month, she felt her love for her girlfriend was dying and decided that to stay with her girlfriend, Sarah she needed to go visit her. So she bought the first amtrak ticket to Northampton and took some vacation time to go surprise her for Sarah's birthday.
As you ask the butch for her name, the train suddenly stops! The Conductor comes over the intercom and announces a delay. All of the passengers seem angry, save for the strange passengers who was interested in the fair folk, they seem giddy. From the back of your eye you also notice that the ghost is back, they are dancing a waltz in the back of the coach
@otherfireangel as you and the butch return talking about the past, you hear a shout "Fucking Finally" a blue haired woman has gotten out of her seat and is beginning to show everyone a sweater she has been making, when she stops at you and the butch, she off-handedly mentions how she feels bad for disrupting a heartfelt moment but just felt she needed to show off the sweater. You feel bitter towards her strangely. You didn't want your conversation with her to be interrupted. All you want to do is learn more about her right now
@pretzelcoatll you suddenly and uncontrollably get up, perform a back flip in the aisle and get back in your seat
@fireyturtle feeling embarrassed, you get up and to hide from your embarrassment after revealing to the butch that you can do a perfect back flip, you run over to the passenger's seat and ask for their name, they tell you their name is Mallory and that they are an author from Boston
They mention off-handedly that they are writing books on the history of the fay in America and that they are traveling to western Massachusetts to prove their theory that the fay inhabit New England and are of course real. They seem slightly into fairies.
@bienehexe As Mallory continues talking about Fair Folk and Fairies and Fay, they mention the idea of Glamour and how it can be detected by the strange actions of the fay who hide with it, that reminds your of the blue haired lady and the sudden backflip, you get up to approach the lady, but as you approach her, her skin starts to flake off revealing a strange pale green skin underneath. The natural world outside the coach vanishes. All that can be seen outside is stars. The seats all melt into the carpeted floor. A screeching sound is heard
@curseyournarrativeandmoisture yes
Good news, fellow artists! Nightshade has finally been released by the UChicago team! If you aren't aware of what Nightshade is, it's a tool that helps poison AI datasets so that the model "sees" something different from what an image actually depicts. It's the same team that released Glaze, which helps protect art against style mimicry (aka those finetuned models that try to rip off a specific artist). As they show in their paper, even a hundred poisoned concepts make a huge difference.
(Reminder that glazing your art is more important than nighshading it, as they mention in their tweets above, so when you're uploading your art, try to glaze it at the very least.)
Everyone reblog! Spread the word so more and more artists learn that in addition to Glaze that coats art against ai scraping mimicry there's also an offensive tool now, able to skew and poison data pools.
Now poisoning will need many artists to nightshade their art and it's most important to get this ou to those the most at risk of being scraped. Reblog!

can i be honest im 100% for the fact that like the tradwife stay at home mom thing is really fucked culturally but also like i think we as a society have to figure this shit out because a child needs the equivalent (if not more) of a full time job's worth of work from an adult who (for the health of the child and for the ethics of the situation honestly) needs to be able to function in a way that isn't making the adult miserable because being raised by miserable adults has really tangible negative impacts on children. whether its community childcare so that simply more adults can be involved in the situation or much more robust social aid towards young families. like this might he stupidly idealistic but i think really the root of a lot of issues in society come from the fact that people refuse to understand the gravity of like. parenthood. its an insane responsibility. i think it should be treated as such
