This is a lullaby from @jackdaw-kraai‘s absolutely phenomenal StarWars AU, which if you haven’t read and are a star wars fan, I absolutely recommend, it is gorgeously written and contains so much platonic and familial love, I cannot say enough good things about it. 

As I was reading a little snipped they had released last night, I fell in love with the words, and made a little singing doodle on my phone as I fell asleep. This morning, I attempted to clean said music doodle up into this! It’s not perfect, but the story brought me a lot of comfort last night, so I just wanted to share. Inspired by this post!

Danny Phantom really is a great concept for a comedy horror series. It’s too bad that concept had to enter the world through the mind of Butch Hartman.

Danny Phantom was the first fandom I was ever really active in as in I created theory and fanfic for it and I’ve been mildly disappointed ever since at the lack of vivisection on live subjects in every other internet community.

Teenage boy superhero is half dead and is hunted down by his own parents and possibly also his girlfriend and if his secret is revealed it’s not his enemies that will be a danger to him, but his own loved ones. All of his enemies know his secret identity, in fact. That is such a fascinating concept that was semi-wasted on Nickelodeon.

Pleased to report that after a day of this i am not longer craving caper brine and my mouth is not dry as usual. There's some good suggestions in the notes too that I want to try.

-ancient roman posca: water, red or white wine vinegar, honey, salt, herbs (coriander, mint, thyme)

One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:

It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and

Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.

Btw when they ask if you have questions some actual good options are stuff like “what’s a typical day like in this role” or “is this job open because someone is leaving or is this a new position”

Another good question I stole from a reddit post that has really impressed all interviewers (two job offers!) is: "let's say you hire me and in a year you're thinking you made a really great choice. What will I have done to make you think that?"

It gets them talking about what they're looking for in the role, thinking about how you could fit it, and lets you end the interview getting to reiterate how good you would be for the role and how enthusiastic you are for it.

If you get the 'tell me about yourself' I've actually had at least one interview where they want to know about you as a person.

It might be worth asking them "Do you mean professionally, to get an idea of my work, or personally to see how I'll fit into the workplace culture?"
