something that i really loved about jatp is the fact that while carrie is rude, flynn and julie can still appreciate the fact that she’s good at singing (and vice versa i’m pretty sure). like, there’s so much girl-vs-girl hate in the media and it’s nice that while they aren’t friends, they can still acknowledge when the other has skill and i love that carrie isn’t the main antagonist of the show either. wayyy too many times you see the same girl-vs-girl thing i mentioned, and honestly all that does is help reinforce internalized misogyny, because all the young girls watching can go “hey, i’m like girl number 1, who’s more creative and nice to others. girl number 2 and her supporters aren’t like me. i must not be like other girls. other girls are mean and rude and only wear pink” and that’s not cool!! all girls are different—we are all multifaceted human beings and forcing ourselves into the stereotypes portrayed in the media so people don’t think we’re rude and assuming other girls ARE rude because they wear pink or whatever is honestly bs. i know i’m dragging on a bit here but basically what i’m saying is i appreciate the complexity of the relationship between carrie and julie & flynn because they don’t let their dislike influence their views on each other’s skill sets and i like that carrie isn’t made out to be completely evil. if that all makes sense
