huge fan of the depth of a good purple but another area that draws me is definitely around aquamarine/turquoise/seafoam. you can not go wrong once the green starts getting just a tinge more blue. a gal could certainly do worse than to pull over there and stay a while
something earth shattering going on here
this is why one of my favorite all-time paintings is Ship in Stormy Seas by Ivan Aivazovsky... he was really onto something there
a close up to just... light shining through those waves, makes me feel faint with exhilaration every time
THERE IS A BOAT BY IVAN AIVAZOVSKY!!
Ivan Aivazovsky could paint glowing water. One of the GOATs for sure.
time lord biology and technology being connected the way they are without it being either cybernetics OR gooey organic tech is what makes it so unique and fascinating to me btw. not eliminating the gap between technological and biological by pulling one into the camp of the other or by explicitly combining them, but by having things like biodata and artron energy that are a little bit of both, to bridge the gap instead. or having one perform the functions of the other (e.g. partitioning a mind). forcing a little extra suspension of disbelief and making it a little more abstract, like as long as you get it that technology and biology are directly physically compatible and in some places completely synonymous. shades of what was proposed in logopolis, kind of. i’m trying to think of any other popular sci fi i know that does something like this without it being cybernetics or organic tech. nothing off the top of my head but anyway i think it’s neat
because it digs its heels into the fiction part of science fiction more than cybernetics or organic tech. those lean into the science part, the part you can easily understand even if it isn’t real because we have cybernetics and organic tech in real life. the fiction is only one layer deep. but biodata and artron energy etc don’t have any readily accessible real life equivalents to compare them to. it adds another layer of fiction. how do cybermen work? cybernetics, like in real life but exaggerated. how can you back up a time lord’s biological state and experiences to a computer? using biodata, which is a thing we just made up that lets you do that, and it does all this other stuff….. idrk where i’m going with this but i like the layers of fiction. i like the depth of worldbuilding and the abstraction of it
you can run Doom on Narvin
it’s kinda crazy to me that most people don’t really like the mark of the rani i mean yeah sure the main plot isn’t anything spectacular but who cares about the main plot when you have the peak comedy trainwreck of the doctor + the master + the rani going on. the only thing better than watching the doctor and the master’s situationship is having someone third in there that has known their situationship since the beginning and is extremely tired of it. absolute cinema to me
Inspired by this

dw audio drama deaths:
i like old doctor who, because the plot will be "the earth's core turns people into werewolves" and the doctor will be like "ah yes, it is because of the deep earth werewolf goo" and everyone is like "ohhhh"
What elephant? He’s never seen an elephant before in his life
It's so insane how in Lungbarrow By Loomlight Banks somehow manages to pull off characterizing the Other in such a way where you can see clearly that the Other IS the Doctor but is still not the Doctor YET. We get a few throwaway lines that imply that the Other is so careless with its lives that it would just kill itself and change its face on a whim, because it has unlimited lives and thus places no value on its body or life. It shrouds itself in a hood because no one cpuld recognise it any other way. The Other also seems to enjoy killing people, which, I mean, wouldn't YOU have a fucked up relationship with death and violence if you spent your childhood being tortured and killed on the regular?
But compare that with how vain and proud and flamboyant the Doctor is, and how much more value they place on life, even their own life even though they're still suicidal. It's a bit emotional how the Doctor is everything the Other never got to be.
The Master being homophobic to Jack is fucking crazy because like. Dude. Glass house??? Throwing stones???
Wizards are not naturally immortal, in fact creating their own form of immortality is their graduate thesis.
“I have created a perpetual healing spell.”
“A classic. Congratulations.”
“If my soul leaves my body, this spell will keep it around and lucid enough to magic myself back together.”
“Effective. Next?”
“My spell feeds off the life force of microscopic things! When bacteria die near me, it adds to my total. Wiping down the sink with antibacterial cleaner gives me SUCH a buzz; I think I may have to dial it down a bit.”
“…I would be very curious to see your notes about this spell.”

“I tied my body’s physical shape to my self-image. As long as I feel young, I won’t age.”
“I see it also gave you… ah…”
“Massive dobonhonkeroos?”
“I was trying to find a more diplomatic way to bring it up.”
“An unexpected side effect, but not an unwelcome one.”
“Shall I assume it’s she/her from here on out, then?”
“Oh yes.”
“My essence is partially fused with the plane of dreams.”
“And that explains the… shifting facial features? The unintelligible swirls over your hands? The anatomy that is just not right at times?”
“If you say I look like an AI generated image, I swear-”
“It’s effective, but at what cost?”
“Cost?”
“Yes, the whole-”
“Oh, no, no, this is all a boon. I have no set face, no fingerprints, no DNA.”
“…you’re going on a crime spree.”
“I. AM GOING. ON SUCH A CRIME SPREE!”
“I made myself an ontological component of reality. but then it turned out I was already an ontological component of reality and had been forever and that really confused me. maybe my work became omniretroactive????”
“I’m going to need to hear how you did that.”
“█████████████████████████████████████”
“…i’m sorry, what???”
“oh. right. since I am always was ontologically component of reality, the method in which i reached that would then be able to remove that, and since that’s not possible in any way, the information pertaining to that….”
“You… don’t know???”
“No, I do know, but that information is tautologically impossible to communicate.”
“That seems… unnecessarily complex.”
“yeah but it’s really funny.”
“…I’ll give you that.”
