Shout out to all the Black ppl that can no longer participate directly in the fandom they love because of the stresses of racism 👍🏾 you contain multitudes of value and I'm sorry that the color of your skin and the power of your voice makes people not want to acknowledge that.
Yes, nonblack people can reblog. I'd appreciate it, in fact, if y'all took the time to vocally support your Black friends/fans in fandom.
girl talkkkkkkkk
Every vampire is all "oh drinking blood is better than any food, drugs, even sex" but I don't even believe them because all of them were literally made before the invention of really good drugs and before we got all the nice foods from the new world, so I don't trust any of their opinions. Lestat has never ate a potato and Armand hasn't ever even tasted tomaotes. The only guy I trust is Daniel Molloy who has probably tried every drug on earth, has definitely ate nice food and would be a valid judge on how good drinking blood really is.
Hello fanfiction community,
Just wanted to bring to your attention that the term whump was actually coined by the Stargate fandom specifically to describe making this guy suffer. He is the original Mr. Whump (no that's not his actual name). That's how torturable this guy is.
Everyone say mean things about him.
Here is a non exhaustive list of what he goes through in canon btw:
His parents get crushed to death right in front of him when he is a kid
He is forced to relive the memory of his parents death countless times
He dies and gets resurrected
His wife gets possessed
He fails to save her and she dies in his arms
He dies and gets resurrected again
He gets infected by a virus that makes him act crazy and gets put in an insane asylum
He dies and gets resurrected again
His ex gets possessed
He is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation
He dies and ascends to a higher plane, then gets kicked out of the higher plane and his memory is wiped
He gets kidnapped by a princess
He gets kidnapped by a fish alien
He gets kidnapped and tortured by some terrorists
He gets kidnapped and tortured by another alien
He is driven to insanity by an alien device
He dies and gets resurrected again
He dies and gets resurrected again
A visual aid to Daniel's decade of whump set to a catchy tune.
the natural lifespan of a fandom is unlimited. when well tended a fandom can be functionally immortal. and yet everywhere you look you see newly bred fandoms withering and dying when they’re barely a year old. barely even six months old. fans are looking at their six month old fandoms and saying i think it’s on its last legs, should i euthanise it? when with the proper care that fandom could outlive them for decades. it’s sad. sad state of affairs we’re in.

these relationships are always increasing numbers as well. so obviously we need six eleven to mean somethimg
imagine if that's the date it finally happens
Last chance before the finale for me to throw out my theory that Jax killed Gangle IRL
EVIDENCE
Jax: Didn't want to drive the candy truck in the second episode despite it being exactly the sort of thing he'd love to do. Seems uncomfortable about driving the car in the Spudsy's episode. Has flashbacks to real life roads and driving. Bullies Gangle violently and yet seems to consider her his "friend", always pairing up with her for adventures and even giving her the role of his counterpart in the President Pomni Adventure, they're even both weebs, "Everyone knows slice of life anime are the worst."
Gangle: Constant allusions to being hit by a truck and not necessarily on purpose. Her body is literally nothing but red ribbon besides her head/face which to me implies her body was too far gone to save. Her mind, however, was uploaded to the circus to save her, perhaps during the human testing phases of Scratch's mind digitization software.
We know Scratch had a tumor, and likely didn't want to die. He probably made the program to digitize mind files to try and save himself, to put off death. The first test was done on his coworkers just to make sure the headset worked. Then it was likely used on patients that were considered "too far gone" to properly save physically. The reason Scratch's mind file wasn't updated was likely because he died before the project was completed.
HYPOTHESIS
We already know that Caine made the Circus himself. I don't think he had anything to do with the player files being created. These were just two seperate but connected things. The AI was likely crafted to either generate stimuli for mind files to keep them active enough their data doesn't rot (abstraction) or to see if the computer was strong enough to capture lifelike thought patterns and present them as people (ie: Scratch's mind file becoming a digital assistant.) One could imagine that Caine wasn't even "not good enough" he just happened to be the first draft, perhaps even made with Kinger's mind file. The second AI might have actually been made with Scratch's mind file. Caine just took it upon himself to create the circus out of the void because he was programmed to, he wanted to create so he created.
The Void is probably just the inside of a computer, literally empty data that when someone "conjures" something it is literally built out of that empty codebase, like AI generates things. The Player Data just happened to be present in Caine's files for him to use, or he'd be just creating things endlessly. That's just me spit balling at this point though.
IN SUMMARY: I don't think Jax's fear of driving and Gangle's fear of getting hit by a truck is unconnected.
"He wouldn't say that" has a beautiful cousin, and her name is "That's Not What This Story is About".

The thing about fanfiction after writing original fiction for so long is that it feels like taking weighted clothes off. If I wanted a cool plot twist or a reveal or a mystery I had to set up all the expectations myself. I had to set up the red herrings, the clues, the boundaries of what was reasonable.
In fanfiction I drop a name from canon I never referenced before and it will carry the weight that a hundred pages of set up would carry in original fiction.
Do you have any fucking idea how intoxicating that is.
The shared language of a fandom in fanfiction is so amazingly conducive to a type of story telling that we lost when public domain was gutted as a legal concept. And it’s such a thrilling way to make stories and I weep for how rare it is to encounter.
Like you sort of get a ghoulish attempt with star wars style “look it’s revan” but it’s still only a handful of people who get to play. With fandom everyone gets to play with the full toolbox, with infinite chances to try.
It’s striking me really hard after reading this post–so much of what is considered the ~canon~ of western literature really arises out of this situation where everyone who wrote (i.e. a tiny minority of educated men and the very very rare educated woman) was operating with a common set of referents. There were just so few books, back then, and if you were educated enough to write, those were the books you had read, and that your teachers had read and told you about. Everyone got the same references.
We talk about the Divine Comedy being Bible fanfic and so forth, but it really was in a way we don’t always articulate–it wasn’t just that it was repurposing other stories the author had read. It was the product of an author who felt himself a part of a community that had this shared set of referents. He only had to allude to things, and his intended readers knew all of the context. Being in modern fandom allows us to be part of a community that likewise shares a canon and shares references and influences, something that is increasingly lost in modern copyrighted fiction where everyone is constantly desperate to be original.
