All Might is Allowed to Teach and That’s Insane
It’s kind of bananas to me that All Might can teach at an elite and high profile school like Yuuei with like no real teaching qualifications? Like, sure he’s All Might, the Hero to end all heroes or whatever, but it’s literally canon that he knows absolutely nothing about how to teach and everyone just lets him?! Most times they don’t even have one of the actual teachers assisting him, the school just gives him free rein to literally throw kids at other kids and the worst he gets is a stern lecture from Recovery Girl. Like, how has no one tried to sue the school at this point, really?
And it’s not even like we can say the other teachers are the same because they’re heroes. Present Mic teaches English, Ectoplasm teaches Mathematics, Cementoss teaches Modern Literature – all of which are core classes and therefore need to be taught by qualified teachers. They probs had to double major or something in college to be Pro Heroes and Teachers and All Might just… walks into Yuuei one day and becomes a teacher?! Do know how salty I’d be if I was staff?
Like Mic over here is just thinking to himself “lol that’s so cool All MIght’s a teacher now, and I had to read War and Peace in like two weeks and write an essay on morality based on the symbolism and other reaching themes of the book, while my roommate chugged Redbull and burped fireballs into our wastebasket, but go off All Might! you totally got this~!”

That’s a fledgling great horned owl, they’re known for being generally ballsy and aggressive, and owls have been known to both climb trees and swim through still water in a pinch
Most likely full scenario: the bird was practicing flying, but it fell because it’s still a kid and they do that. It probably fell in/by the water. It then was like Oh Damn Oh Jesus and decided it was not in fact a duck and headed to shore, saw you, and was utterly offended but confused on what to do. So it decided to Square Up and face you like the hellbeast it is.
The pose it’s taking in the pic is one I affectionately call Full Orb. A fully orbed owl is 100% READY to FIGHT 1v1 no items final destination. You were probably its first up close encounter with a human, and since birds tend to associate larger animals with predators, it tried to make itself look as big as possible to make sure you know what’s up. It was staring you down because it was waiting to see you make the first move in the dual or flee in fear from its superior owl might.

All mothers I’ve ever known were effectively single mothers, even when they had a husband.
a LOT of women agree with this but men like….. universally object its hilarious
case in point. And it’s actually the mom on a call and not the dad.
Tbh I predict a lot of post covid divorces. This is a very common story.
A lot of people saying “grateful for my dad. whenever my mum couldnt make dinner, he would do it. if she was busy, he’d always chip in” are missing the point entirely. its not a woman’s job to do chores by default and whenever they cant, the man fills in the blanks. no! men and women should divide housework evenly ALWAYS! your dad should have been making dinner half the days of the week anyway.
I had a friend who would have been 91 next month. She married her husband in 1950 and throughout their whole marriage he always insisted on doing half the housework. Even though he worked full time as a dock worker his entire life and it absolutely was not expected of men at that time in society. He would also take any money he personally needed (or mortgage payments etc) out of his wage packet, then give her the rest of it and tell her she could spend it on anything they needed or she wanted, for herself or the kids. Because he loved and trusted her absolutely, he knew she would spend it responsibly, never asked for the receipts. He loved her and the kids and wanted to make sure they knew that, which included cooking for them, washing the dishes for them, looking after them when they were sick and everything that a competant husband should do. They were never rich or had a huge amount of money, just enough to get by comfortably most of the time and eventually save up to buy a small house.
When she talked to me about her husband she would almost always end up crying because she loved him so much and he was such a wonderful husband and person. Even in the decades where she couldn’t legally have a bank account or divorce and didn’t have half the rights women have now, he always treated her as an equal.
Men have always been capable of contributing at least half the work for childcare and household chores. They just choose not to and its disgusting that this is the situation so many women are stuck with in 2021.
Legolas pretty quickly gets in the habit of venting about his travelling companions in Elvish, so long as Gandalf & Aragorn aren’t in earshot they’ll never know right?

i mean, honestly it’s amazing the Elves had as many languages and dialects as they did, considering Galadriel (for example) is over seven thousand years old.
english would probably have changed less since Chaucer’s time, if a lot of our cultural leaders from the thirteenth century were still alive and running things.
they’ve had like. seven generations since the sun happened, max. frodo’s books are old to him, but outside any very old poetry copied down exactly, the dialect represented in them isn’t likely to be older than the Second Age, wherein Aragorn’s foster-father Elrond started out as a very young adult and grew into himself, and Legolas’ father was born.
so like, three to six thousand years old, maybe, which is probably a drop in the bucket of Elvish history judging by all the ethnic differentiation that had time to develop before Ungoliant came along, even if we can’t really tell because there weren’t years to count, before the Trees were destroyed.
plus a lot of Bilbo’s materials were probably directly from Elrond, whose library dates largely from the Third Age, probably, because he didn’t establish Imladris until after the Last Alliance. and Elrond isn’t the type to intentionally help Bilbo learn the wrong dialect and sound sillier than can be helped, even if everyone was humoring him more than a little.
so Frodo might sound hilariously formal for conversational use (though considering how most Elves use Westron he’s probably safe there) and kind of old-fashioned, but he’s not in any danger of being incomprehensible, because elves live on such a ridiculous timescale.
to over-analyse this awesome and hilarious post even more, legolas’ grandfather was from linguistically stubborn Doriath and their family is actually from a somewhat different, higher-status ethnic background than their subjects.
so depending on how much of a role Thranduil took in his upbringing (and Oropher in his), Legolas may have some weird stilted old-fashioned speaking tics in his Sindarin that reflect a more purely Doriathrin dialect rather than the Doriathrin-influenced Western Sindarin that became the most widely spoken Sindarin long before he was born, or he might have a School Voice from having been taught how to Speak Proper and then lapse into really obscure colloquial Avari dialect when he’s being casual. or both!
considering legolas’ moderately complicated political position, i expect he can code-switch.
…it’s also fairly likely considering the linguistic politics involved that Legolas is reasonably articulate in Sindarin, though with some level of accent, but knows approximately zero Quenya outside of loanwords into Sindarin, and even those he mostly didn’t learn as a kid.
which would be extra hilarious when he and gimli fetch up in Valinor in his little homemade skiff, if the first elves he meets have never been to Middle Earth and they’re just standing there on the beach reduced to miming about what is the short beard person, and who are you, and why.
this is elvish dialects and tolkien, okay. there’s a lot of canon material! he actually initially developed the history of middle-earth specifically to ground the linguistic development of the various Elvish languages!

If I remember correctly, in the “tree of tongues” material from The Lost Road, Tolkien goes into some detail about how the reason elves have so many dialects is that elves view language as a form of collaborative art, which they delight in, so a newly-coined word or grammatical construct gets spread around just like a new song would.
Elves may be immortal, but they’re also immortal nerd OCs and we must never forget this
