The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. Theyâre everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.

MB is worried about Three, but wants to Do Better- to do it right- so that Three doesn't suffer like it did. And MB pays attention to who and what is going on in Three's life- it's watching out to make sure that other people aren't going to step in and hurt Three. Three is ALLOWED to make mistakes and experience non-fatal consequences. It will still have a place even if ART and MB are mad at it. It CARES about Three. Even if Three is apparently a big weirdo nerd that likes learning or whatever (ugh)... (Murderbot; lovely Thembo) And like, also, the reason MB is talking about what "we" need to do with Three is because it's ACTIVELY ENGAGED in discussions about Three, and it's well being. I love this and itâs also cementing my idea that what a secunit seeks out is a reaction to how it has been treated. Murderbot, physically and mentally abused, seeks out comfort - sitting, media, comfortable clothes.

I donât like the phrase âa cry for help.â I just donât like how it sounds. When somebody says to me, âIâm thinking about suicide. I have a plan: I just need a reason not to do it,â the last thing I see is helplessness.
I think your depression has been beating you up for years. Itâs called you ugly, and stupid, and pathetic, and a failure, for so long that youâve forgotten that itâs wrong. You donât see any good in yourself, and you donât have any hope.
But still here you are: youâve come over to me, banged on my door and said, âHEY! Staying alive is REALLY HARD right now! Just give me something to fight with! I donât care if itâs a stick! Give me a stick and I can stay alive!â
How is that helpless? I think thatâs incredible. Youâre like a marine: trapped for years behind enemy lines. Your gun has been taken away, youâre out of ammo, youâre malnourished, and youâve probably caught some kind of jungle virus thatâs making you hallucinate giant spiders.
And youâre still just going, âGIVE ME A STICK. IâM NOT DYING OUT HERE.â âA cry for helpâ makes it sound like Iâm supposed to take pity on you, but you donât need my pity. This isnât pathetic. This is the will to survive. This is how humans lived long enough to become the dominant species.
With NO hope, running on NOTHING, youâre ready to cut through a hundred miles of hostile jungle with nothing but a stick, if thatâs what it takes to get to safety.
All Iâm doing is handing out sticks.
Youâre the one saying alive.

Every time I see this post I stop to read the whole image. It always helps â even on the good days.
Because it wasnât weakness. It wasnât shameful to seek help. It wasnât pathetic to âcry for helpâ. I was looking for a stick, be that from myself or from someone else. I was trying to find a way out. I was trying to heal myself.

But youâre not lazy. Lazy is when you shrug things off because you canât summon up the give-a-damn. When youâre curled up tight in your chair at your desk, alone and grey and desperately wishing that you had your life in order, that you did all those things you had to do, that it didnât feel like breaking rocks just to feed and clothe yourself and get some sleep, thatâs not lazy.
People donât understand. You tell them âItâs hard.â They tell you âNo it isnât, youâre just lazy.â
You start to wonder if theyâre right.
is breaking those rocks easy for everyone else? Are they that much stronger than you?
They donât look like theyâre struggling.
âJust try harder,â they say. But youâre trying. Itâs not working.
Breaking boulders in your path until youâre spent isnât lazy. And you do it day after day after day.
Youâre not lazy. Most people donât have those rocks to break. They donât even know what itâs like to have to break rocks to get things done. They donât understand how hard you have to work, and how hopeless you can feel, when you try and fail to do what they do so easily. Things are harder for you. They really are. And if those people had to deal with your problems, they wouldnât be doing any better.
Youâre not lazy. Youâre not weak. Youâre fighting hard. I guess I just want you to know that I know that.

This is aimed at fans of the novellas and the TV show and I tried to capture various different elements of the story and characters.

The reveal that secunit is writing its bitchy little diaries in real time while hanging out in three's consciousness was so funny to me đ
Honest (SPOILER) thoughts regarding the GO finale, I think a valuable piece of writing people are kinda overlooking is the INCREDIBLE subversion of their main motivations
Like we as the audience are lead to believe from the start that Crowley is this jaded, cynical little fucker whoâs fond of one person and one person only. The typical ânothing in this world matters except youâ grumpy who doesnât give a shit about a universe that rejected him. Aziraphale, likewise, is pretty easily seen as the bigger picture guy, itâs obvious he loves Crowley deeply but itâs the mission of the larger world, the good of the people, that draws his time and energy- he chooses that responsibility more than Crowley. These are the roles weâve seen them play and the archetypes weâve kinda locked them in to. It matches with their grumpy vs sunshine attitudes, their aesthetics etc
Then in s2 we started noticing some cracks in it. Weâve met Angel Crowley who is a beautiful sunshiny dreamer who cares so deeply about the gorgeous world around him. Aziraphale starts to get a bit wrapped up in his own self interest from time to time, caring more about his bookshop or Crowley or even Jim than his larger mission. These little moments added depth to their characters, but ultimately didnât shake our ideas of them. But THEN-
When they were asked by God what they would save, everything in the world has been stripped from them. The universe is lost- all that remains is each other and the final question of âwhat in the whole of existence matters to you most?â And we think we know what theyâll say, we think the way weâve been taught all this time- Crowley is the selfish lover and Aziraphale is the heartbroken rejector.
But instead we meet their cores. We meet the truest stripped down versions of themselves and we learn the truth. Aziraphale picks Crowley. His lover, his life, the being that completes him. He makes the selfish, or loving, choice, no matter what it means to the world. And Crowley- Crowley is crying for the world. He is so utterly helplessly desperate for humanity to have their chance that heâs willing to throw away everything out of his sheer love for them. Weâve met the old part of him again, the artist and the lover, the selfless one heâs had within him all along. And for Aziraphale weâve finally met the lover in him too, the one whoâs finally willing to put his love for Crowley above all else.
I donât know but I think itâs absolutely beautiful to get to know characters that you thought had these black and white motivations, only to discover that when it all comes down to it, they are capable of throwing everything we assumed about them out the window. Thereâs no black and white or even grey, but a whole world of mixed up colours and choices that make them whole. The sinful Angel and the selfless demon to the last.
So I was really excited to see what tumblr was saying about good omens with the series finale and all. And I expected some people to be upset of course, but Iâm kind of shocked about why theyâre upset. Like I figured it was gonna be about it only being an hour and a half episode instead of a full season. Or like it being rushed. But I was not expecting to see people so angry about the ending itself. Like donât get me wrong Iâve been plenty pissed about show endings before. But people being all oh my favorite characters are now gone and never existed and everything sucks is soo confusing to me.
Like maybe Iâm missing something and Iâm sure if anyone even sees this theyâll be upset with my take on this. And Iâm not saying they canât feel that way cuz people are gonna feel how theyâre gonna feel and thereâs nothing wrong with that. Everyone sees art a different way no matter the medium.
I personally really enjoyed the ending. And this is my opinion, I think it made sense how it ended. And itâs not a failure on their end for not getting their happily ever after. The whole problem with the former universe was that no matter how many times they stopped it, it was always gonna end. And if they had chosen to bring that universe back they were just gonna keep ending up where they were. It was an inescapable cycle. And Crowley knew that which is why he chose to give life a chance. To let a universe actually grow and change without someone constantly stacking the deck. Aziraphale even says it several times about how even if they had gone to Alpha Centauri, the universe would still eventually end. Would I have loved for them to find a way where they couldâve continued as they had, without all the world ending stuff, 100%. But this made sense. And I like the fact that some version of them still got a chance. And thatâs all Crowley and Aziraphale wanted.
And I know some people think that the ending is depressing. Which as I said before is completely fair because art is subjective and people are gonna take different things away from it. But what I took away from it is Hope. Life will find away and they may not have been Aziraphale and Crowley but Asa Fell and Anthony Crowley still found each other. And no I donât think itâs like the jobâs children thing as some people were saying. Because they arenât a replacement for them. Theyâre something new that was able to grow because of Crowley and Aziraphaleâs choice. They got the opportunity that Crowley and Aziraphale were never able to. Theyâre their legacy not their replacements. Thatâs hope. That the decisions you make may not benefit you in the long run, but someone down the road may reap those benefits because of you. And gosh if that isnât the most uplifting thing in such a shitty world right now. That you may never get to see the world you wanted but by doing the right thing maybe one day others will. That your suffering isnât for naught.
Now before someone gets all up in arms and takes it the wrong way, Iâm not saying that we should have to suffer cuz we shouldnât. But Iâm also saying that the world is shit, of course it is. But saying how shitty the world is and that if only it was better isnât gonna fix anything. And sometimes you have to accept life is the way it is and just keep doing your best to fix what you can and not kill yourself trying to fix what you canât.
Anyways I really enjoyed the ending. And no you donât always need a kiss at the end of a story. Was I hoping for one at the end, totally. Do I think it needed one, no. It was very them. And Aziraphales little finger kiss was really cute.
Okay Iâm done with my rant now. And I know no one will probably see this but if they do, Thank you all the amazing talented people who worked on the finale for giving us an amazing end to the story and also everyone who worked on the series as a whole and especially David Tennant and Michael Sheen for playing Crowley and Aziraphale. You both gave us such amazing characters and a wonderful story. Thank you to everyone who made this possible your hard work is appreciated.
