I think in retrospect one thing that will be historically notable about the 2020s is the use of online smear campaigns against powerful women. Like it’s extremely frightening. So many of them also were quite literally funded by men who were angry about “getting MeTooed” and wanted to ruin a woman’s life the same way.

The most frightening part is what happens when you discuss these women or overhear discussions about them in real life. The internet moves on, sometimes like with Amber Heard it even course corrects. But you bring up these women’s names to your coworkers or your aunt or whoever and they wrinkle their noses. Isn’t she a terrible person though? And you can’t really convince them otherwise, not fully. That’s the goal of these smear tactics, to create a big poison mushroom cloud that EVERYONE inhales and once the normies log off you’re marked forever, even after your name is cleared a week later.

Men figured out that calling a woman’s morals into question (whether warranted or not) and then buying a bunch of bots or goading mentally ill freaks to act hysterical about it does tarnish a woman’s reputation exactly the same way that serious sexual assault and violent crime cases tarnish a man’s.

take aside any "health concerns" for a moment and think about how fatness is treated socially.

fat women report an above average amount of misogynistic comments and behaviour directed towards them in daily life, and of a higher degree of verbal violence (ie, r*pe threats etc.) compared to women as a population, and many report feeling they are treated as "not even human," because of how much society, but also to a fine point, men, treat women's worth as being equal to how "attractive" they are - and view fat women in turn as having "failed" at being women.

believe me that no fat person is unaware of your health concerns, as every and anybody seems to feel empowered to give their unsolicited opinions on that. but, that is a medical concern to be discussed with in confidence with a medical professional, not random strangers online.

if you contribute to the marginalization of fat people, women in particular, by pushing the narrative that demeans them and assumes qualities of laziness, ugliness, poor hygiene, etc., you are contributing to a pillar of patriarchy that equates a woman's value with her (subjective!) attractiveness and encourages her maltreatment accordingly.

a deeply beloved professor of mine in college was a fat woman who had built her body of academic work on the intersection of misogyny and weight bias as a variable in women's mental health treatment outcomes. she had found some truly harrowing shit in her research that leaves me in no doubt that men's treatment of fat women is largely if not entirely driven by misogyny, and the general societal treatment of fatness emboldens them, as fat women feel like an "acceptable" target of that violence in the public sphere. this professor also shared with me and other students how, even when presenting her work to a group of supposedly enlightened colleagues at conferences, she had been the subject of misogynistic jokes based on her weight. (ie, "you know why she picked this to research, just look at her," "anything but going to the gym, huh," "no surprise she's single like this," etc.)

I also think that the strength gap is at least partially manufactured women would in fact be stronger overall if little girls were encouraged to do physically taxing games and activities and eat their fill while they’re growing vs having to constantly diet and be sedentary indoors (or god forbid do intense cardio while under-eating).
