Reblogging this manually. Op doesn't want credit for fear of being terminated.
UPDATE 2024: in honour of the upcoming third season i finally gave in to my perfectionist impulses and reformatted this thing to not be fuck ugly.
(original non-ugly version can be found here!!)
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
How often do you get asks about the breedibility of various factions?
Quite often and I know exactly which of you fuckers is responsible
In my defense, Red Corsairs ARE breedable.
The Death Korps of Krieg are so so breedable. Their catholic guilt alone makes them 50 times more breedable.
I like you, you have the right ideas.
If the iron warriors were smart they would steal a ta'unar and stick a daemon in it to create a daemon engine with a massive, throbbing, daemonic railgun capable of penetrating any and all defense, but they won't because they're cowards and that's why chaos will never win
Go away, Graham
The Alpha Legion in Harrowmaster and Ghost Legion have a T'au railgun mounted on their flagship space hulk & that's why they have built a functioning society and the Iron Warriors haven't
Stop encouraging him
also happy pride month to this banger

A lot of the satellite footage of Gaza and Lebanon that you see in the media looks like this
And while that is obviously horrifying to me, I think people ho are still in deep denial can sort of pretend to themselves that there must have been a very big battle there, or a massive fire, or one really big bomb. The 'oh we were fighting Hamas/Hezbollah' bullshit can somehow be wielded to stay in that deep denial.
So I think they should be showing more shit like this:
Like, this makes it pretty clear that it's every house. Systematically. Can you convince yourself that Hezbollah was in EVERY house? For real? Or is it time to start facing that the IDF is deliberately going from house to house destroying a civilization?
Best and worst gay rep in Warhammer?
Best is Obyron and Zahndrekh. They’re older gay couple rep that explore themes of loyalty, love under classism, living with mental illness, supporting each other, and trust. Very important stuff. Also an evil bougie twink tries to break them up and Obyron beats him to death, which is very based.
Worst gay rep is Vect and Hesperax respectively because they keep sabotaging each other and falling out and really we should be avoiding division and supporting 👏 each 👏 other 👏
Some of the Water Caste's first major assignments in learning about Imperial society involved sending agents out to try and observe Astartes mating rituals
It’s very difficult first assignment; they vary hugely from chapter to chapter and contain a lot of physicality and response-based minutiae. A single overextended stomp or too-loudly revved chainsword can change an entire fertility display into a fight to the death.
