So for this cisgender woman with naturally high testosterone (and/or an intersex condition, I do not know her specific condition and it's honestly none of my business) has to be be forced to take the same testosterone suppressing medications that these same competitive regulatory committee said wasn't good enough to suppress trans women's testosterone to allow them to compete in women's sports.

If she has naturally high testosterone, similar to that that trans women experience in their lives pre-transition then wouldn't she have the same advantages that a trans woman supposedly inherently has and can not be corrected with said testosterone suppression?

Like, no one should have to undergo forced medical treatment to be able to compete or to make it "fair" for their competition. Other athletes have all kinds of natural advantages, like Michael Phelps having an abnormal wingspan and larger lungs and heart. In fact, every high level athlete has some kind of physical advantage, that's how they're such high level athletes. You think the people they beat out for their spots just, what, didn't work as hard? Didn't grab those bootstraps tight enough? Fuck no.

Racism, intersexism, and transphobia are all linked, and this case is maybe the most glaringly obvious one.

by posting your fic there, ao3, has the right to manually recategorise tags. its in the ToS:

you cant deliberately mistag stuff on ao3; it is an archive. you cant tag for reach, and this is likely gonna get pat tag wranglers because they deal mostly with form not content of tags and if theyre tagging for reach, its gonna be the more popular tags.

so report the fuck out of them for it. most likely, their fic will just have tags adjusted and their account will be fine.

and if they keep doing it and get suspended for it, its their own damn fault.

to those wondering How someone without a uterus can have a period: it actually has very little to do with the organs! Estrogen is a set of instructions that your body follows. when it's in constant supply at the right levels, your body will start picking out a schedule for when it needs to release a few other hormones, and start squeezing the ever-loving shit out of the MUSCLES that it expects to be around those organs. Remember, bleeding is only a small part of a period. the main symptoms are muscle cramps, pain or discomfort in the lower abdominal area(because of the cramps), irregular bowel movements(because of the cramps), needing to pee more(because of the cramps), bloating, craving specific foods, nausea, and fluctuations in energy levels & nutritional needs. none of that requires a uterus or ovaries; even the bloating is only PARTIALLY from being full of blood.

this is also why cis women born without functioning reproductive systems(i.e. womb is just scar tissue, neither ovary actually works, developed a third kidney instead of a uterus, that kind of thing) can still have periods throughout their life. as long as they're producing lots of estrogen, it's gonna happen!

As an AMAB individual who's had periods since I was 13 or 14, this is really comforting to read.

For a really long time, my periods would hit me by surprise and i grew to assume that my body was kinda messed up and randomly vulnerable to strange foods. It took me many years to notice my periods were regular monthly things and realize my body is a lot more normal than I thought.

It's not just physical symptoms either. Mood swings, libido changes and cuddliness came and went too. For most of my teenage years I would "randomly" have terrible days accompanied by touch-starved loneliness. I assumed I was just being a regular moody edgy teenager who needed to get over himself.

I hope this post reaches teenagers with periods and transfems with periods. We're not weird or broken, we're just different and that's normal for us. We are okay.

In my case, my periods were one of many signs that I had something weird going on gender-wise. It took dozens of little revelations for me to cut through the masculine persona I'd been raised with and figure out I'm actually pretty feminine. In my early 20s it was enough to push me to come out as transfem.

I'm a woman. Just like most women, I've had periods since I was a young girl. Sure, I don't have a uterus, but not having a uterus doesn't mean much. At face value I'm a woman and deeper I'm genderfluid between feminine genders. Yes I'm AMAB and trans, but those things are just minor sidenotes.
