Guess who finally updated her intro?
Anywaysss hi! I'm Marvi, and I'm currently 17 years old,
I am a musician, artist, writer, and whatever other hobby I've decided to pick up on a given week (such is the curse of ADHD). My pronouns are She/her or She/they, it's a work in progress lol. I'm here AND queer, and I don't post stuff super often (school) but when I do it's sure to be entertaining!

Ok idk why I canāt make a comment on this post but I do have something to say about this. (Btw Iām not like trying to attack you or anything, but just sharing my perspective/experience I guess?)
So anyways I do agree that Jkr is a horrible person 100%, but I also think that you can genuinely love the series while separating it from her. I mean, I think a big reason why I still say I love it is because it was such a big part of my childhood, so I associate it with that, you know? And I feel like you can acknowledge that a piece of media has its flaws while still appreciating it for what it is. So I guess my point is that just because someone might like the Harry Potter doesnāt automatically make them a supporter of jkr or the things she says. You can even read the books w/o giving her money! There are websites, and you can buy them from resellers and a lot of people I think just already own the books. Anyways yeah. Just my thoughts.
That is true, you can separate the art from the artist.
And perhaps you can find ways to enjoy the media without financially supporting her, but most people (from what I've seen) aren't doing that. I originally posted this because I saw a bunch of stuff on my dash about how apparently good the trailer for the series is or smth, which does support her. I also have a relative who is significantly less homophobic than the rest, but she loves harry potter and still buys merch, games, etc.
So yes, you can definitely feel nostalgia! You could have enjoyed the movies. But, if you don't pirate etc, you are directly putting money into her pockets, which helps her harm trans people. It's not really separating art from artist when there's no separation between consuming the media and funding someone actively harming people.

You really can't "separate the art from the artist" when JKR has stated that she considers any interaction with the harry potter universe as an endorsement of her views. And even if she didn't state that, even if you don't give her money, JKR has been using her fucking grip she has on the public with her books to stay present in public life and continue to have a massive platform and influence to speak about her disgusting opinions.
I know what I'm gonna say is hard, HP was ALSO my whole childhood and if felt sad to have to leave it behind, but genuinely, your comfort and "nostalgia" are NOT WORTH IT. Actually, "nostalgia" is such a shit excuse I'm honestly flabbergasted it's still being used. What you're saying is that you can't let go of a TERF's weapon that she actively uses to kill trans people because it would hurt your feelings too bad, boohoo.
Get into another fucking book.
I would highly recommend either watching/reading LOTR because you'll realise that JKR just copied half of what was in there and slapped an academy on it and called it a book, or if you really need it to be contemporary and teenage-ish, Percy Jackson is also a very good book series and the author is, for once, not a piece of crap.
Or find something else, I don't care. The point is, everytime someone mentions Harry Potter even once in passing, every trans person in the room gets uncomfortable. We can't keep having that conversation. Every mention of this book brings with it the reminder of the horrible mold-brained asshole woman that is JKR and I'm genuinely so sick of it.
You may not give her money, but by continuing to desperately cling to this universe, you give her influence and bring mental discomfort and anguish to the life of your trans peers.

Ok so Iām guessing this was directed primarily at me. First off, Iād like to say that I feel you are making multiple assumptions about me. I have watched/read all of LOTR and The Hobbit multiple times, and I love Tolkienās work. I also have read all of Percy Jackson. You also seem to assume that I am ignorant to trans peopleās experiences, when you donāt even know if I am actually a trans person myself (Iām not, but this isnāt the point). One of my closest friends that Iāve known for years is trans, I was the first person he came out to. I have many others who are trans that are also friends of mine. I was questioning if I myself was trans for a while too. So I am very much aware of and empathetic towards trans people and the discrimination they face, Iām a huge advocate for them! And finally the last assumption, and perhaps the most important for this topic, is that you misinterpret my intentions and paint me as if Iām ādesperately clingingā to the franchise. I am not actually! Sure, I read the books from time to time, or watch the movies. Like maybe once a year. But also make a conscious effort to acknowledge and point out any harmful rhetoric within the book, because I agree that her horrible opinions are in the things she creates, which is why anyone who engages with them should take them with at least a grain of salt. Because honestly? Itās a work of fiction. Not real. Which means that the story can be whatever I want it to be. Thatās the great part of fiction! When I see harmful rhetoric in HP, I can genuinely just create an alternate scene/dialogue to take the place of that one. The overall plot of the story (the āchosen oneā is being hunted by evil wizard. Chosen one and friends go to magic school to defeat evil wizard.) is not inherently transphobic, itās the details that are. I mean, Iāve been head cannoning Harry as bi for like ever š I can just go BAM theyāre all transgender now. And then in my mind they can be. So I think I can be allowed to feel nostalgia for a book series I loved as a kid while also acknowledging the harm it causes and actively going against that harm/not supporting the creator.
No, Ronance does not have 10,000 Fics
So after removing all the yaoi ships, I ended up only getting 6k-8k Ronance fics, and the reason I filtered those out is because most fics involving Steddie/Stonathan/Stilly whatever put robin and nancy in the background and dont actually involve them whatsoever, maybe youll get like 3 scenes if youre lucky but yknow its just another example of people centering men even though theyve been centered for hundreds of thousands of years in most societies but okay. anyway, only like 50-100 authors actually put minor robin/nancy in the tags. just its pretty fucking annoying how most of these people dont give a rats ass about ronance yet put it in their tags anyway, to, yknow, prop up the male characters.
i think it would be great for us to come together and write more ronance and put these other ships in the background.. and just not say anything. it wouldnt have a negative effect anyway, male centered ships are and will always be in the majority so you dont have to go 'b-b-but morality and being the bigger person!' (thats patriarchy brainwashing you btw. might wanna get that checked). still, you dont have to follow all these steps...just write more ronance...š ...i just think it would be great. so. š¤§ whatever.
