THEM 🧡💚
Seven Havens…
So… after Aang, Zuko, and the rest of the Gaang tried to fix everything, Korra’s world was doing pretty good… and then it just got destroyed again???
Again???
Come on, Bryke… 😒
That shows your self-insert hero didn’t do that great of a job, did he?
Hmmm, I wonder what could’ve happened if they hadn’t forced that pairing…🤔
Sooooo Ama give it a pass…
the young man she gave a seed to (or whatever) straight up looks like an unblemished older Zuko… I mean… 🙄
Sigh. There’s really nothing like the original Gaang.
Maybe a new generation of viewers would appreciate it then 🤷🏽♀️
As I said, they're destroying that "boring fantasy world", coming back to their original idea: a Space Opera.
So we have Fist of the North Star, but family friendly.
So, It will be a triumph of good scenes but stupid and stereotipical plot.
Like the other Avatar.
BORING
That's all my view about it. A old story made by two old directors full of theirselves, with the most army of sycophants at their service. Those morons that accepted the fall of Dragonball.
love how in the new Kiyi comic, Mai shows up & you think that the writers are going to have her get back with Zuko since she’s teaching his sister & all but at the end they pull a whole 180 and bring Ty Lee in and BAM! mailee ending
... Sure.
Tell me another one.
This comic was so damned boring, that even a not-toxic crackship can save it. And these two are my first and second favorite characters of that show, just to say!
But whatever, you can live in your world.
She realised she not built for this.
I like this.
And?
Again I shoud give a fuck?
By this logic, can he have a relationship with Katara but not with Toph?
There have been monks throughout our history who fell in love, got married, had children, and then left monastic life.
I’m not saying Aang (the fictional character) can’t fall in love. My criticism has never been that.
My criticism is that Bryke built an Air Nomad culture around monastic ideals and non-attachment, then had Aang marry and have children without meaningfully exploring the conflict that should come with this sole exception.
If I were Bryke, I would’ve addressed that complexity—whether in the comics, The Legend of Korra, or the new movie. Either show Aang struggling with the tension between his culture and his desire for a family, or establish clearly that Air Nomad monks can marry without meaning to abandon their air nomade lifestyle.
Instead, the series spends episodes telling us that monks don’t form those kinds of attachments and then simply moves past the issue. So the show says that monks have no ties, they don't marry. Then they had Aang marry and have children without exploring maybe the greatest conflict that could put in crisis his whole identity.
I ship Taang, I already know it’s not canon, but I don’t care, I like an idea based on interactions I see, on a friendship that moves something in me, and I read fanfiction about it. I’m playing with dolls, I’m a fan, I’m consuming a product that WAS MADE THIS WAY.
I’m not the author of a book that is published, open to public, based on others cultures without informing first about the cultures I’m gonna write about.
In hindsight, if Aang can end up with Katara according to Bryke's logic, then at this point, according to the world they've built, Aang could also end up with Toph.
It doesn’t mean I’m racist, I’m following the world building of Atla, who has some lacks in the writing. If I read C.S. Lewis, it means I love the Chronicles of Narnia, not that I approve his misogyny.
Bryke makes exceptions, but fans who don't make the material more canon can’t? For what I can say, I've seen more fanfiction make Aang a real monk than Bryke.
Sadly, Konietzko and Di Martino decided that all Air Nomads were monks, and they all make children, but without ties.
It's literally the negation of Buddhist Monasticism, confusing american and british interpretations of buddhism with real buddhism.
And NOPE, those "exceptions" happened inside some specifical schools of buddhism, especially Vajrayana, not in the majority of buddhist schools and confessions!
Sadly, a lot of fans refuse to see these realities, because they only care to see the action, and "new characters more near to us", craving that a Fantasy World should be like their realities, while what we (because I'm one of this fandom) live as americans and europeans isn't the only reality, and it exists after many social transformations in history, especially since the late XIX century.
And nope again, "the artists are free to do what they want with their story" isn't true. Artists can create, but creating after an agreement with the reader, based on suspension of disbelief and logical and narrative coherence. And since they had written LoK, they violated every agreement, just because they wanted to create the space opera series they wanted AtlA to be.
And I support these critics as a fan of Kataang, just to say!
Even if Taang is cute, I have to admit it.
And I love Aang with hair, and frankly It could be interesting that he begun a different way for Air Nomads, maybe seeing a past before the monks, like It was for mongolians and tibetans before Dalai Lama, or hindi people before the canonization of all Veda.
Ehi @phoebester , here for you!
Zutara Turkic AU (Oghuz & Sakha)
Oh! This is so beautiful!!! 🤩
nolan’s odyssey is such a textbook study on the idiocy and dangers of presentism. yes of course penelope is a modern day feminist who wants to rule ithaca by herself. they make telemachus say that GREECE IS THE GREATEST CIVILIZATION IN THE WORLD as if the entire point of the massing of achaeans at troy for one unified cause isn’t spectacular precisely because THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF A UNIFIED GREECE NATIONS DO NOT EXISTTTTTT YETTTTT. literally 101 on historical writing is making sure that you’re avoiding strict periodization because the people living in a “period” will not identify themselves that way. ever. five million cheeky nods to “the sea peoples” but we’re being cute and coy and calling them “the people from the sea.” the obsession with xenia but refusal to call it xenia yes let’s say “zeus’s law” a hundred times and reduce it to the literal expectation that any stranger could be a god in disguise. how was penelope just hanging out in the main hall of the palace with her husband’s dinner guests while they were playing with weapons with her HAIR COMPLETELY DOWN no veil no nothing just chilling casually. comical. stoppppp making movies that engage in historical viewpoints if you’re going to slather a modernized coat of paint over the top. “the past is a foreign country, they do things differently there.” or fucking whatever.
Well, It was a Fantasy, more than a Epic Movie.
And there, as a sweet irony, Epic-The Musical is almost more faithful than a "serious mainstream movie".
Because It declares to be a fantasy inspired by the original epic poem, not a "faithful reconatruction".
Now that Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is out, we can wait for the EPIC: The Musical movie, and then have to deal with people saying "We just got The Odyssey, why are we getting another adaptation?"
And all the people complaining about Lupita Nyong'o playing Helen are gonna have their heads spinning at Puerto Rican Odysseus, Polites wearing glasses, Black Eurylochus, Black Antinous, Black Ares, British Circe, and British Hermes.
And all the people complaining about Robert Pattinson Antinous saying "You're pining for a daddy you didn't even know, like some sniveling bastard" are gonna have to deal with the What Saga and Holy Moly.
Can't wait.
Beh, se la mettiamo così...
Poll on what cultural/social context you would find most interesting in a f/f fanfic featuring at least one Fire Nation character
This goes for Azula/Ty Lee, Azula/Mai, Mai/Ty Lee, Azula/Katara, Mai/Katara, Ty Lee/Katara, Toph/Mai, Yue/Azula, etc.
I kind of wish that more lesbian Azula fanfics positioned lesbianism and homosexuality within a different, non-modern cultural and social context. There are quite a few ways that lesbianism could exist, be understood, etc. within the context of Fire Nation society but it’s very unlikely things would be like 2010s American society or even 1950s American society. It might not even be understood as a “sexual identity” as opposed to a behavior people engage in.
There’s actually a lot of ways Fire Nation culture could treat lesbianism:
The society could be highly homophobic with lesbianism illegal or socially taboo.
At the other extreme, lesbian marriage could be normal, but that doesn’t mean it’s necessarily treated the same way as in modern Western society. One possibility is that one partner in a lesbian couple is regarded as symbolically taking on a male role.
Society could just completely ignore the subject. There isn’t a taboo against lesbianism, but lesbian behavior has been completely ignored, period culturally.
There could be informal institutions liked “Boston Marriages” that are not perceived as sexual or romantic by broader society.
Lesbian behavior could be considered completely acceptable in some contexts (like between the wives/concubines of the same man) but not in most others.
Lesbian sex might just not be perceived as sex at all(since there’s no penis involved). It might be completely socially accepted but not be seen as “sex.”
Lesbianism might be perceived as a behavior, not as an identity. Lesbian sexual acts might be completely accepted (and maybe even encouraged in some contexts), precisely because they’re not seen as interfering with women’s reproductive and familial obligations. It’s actually quite unusual historically for societies to see gayness as an identity, rather than seeing particular sex acts as a behavior.
it all might depend entirely on social contexts.
the Fire Nation might generally view sex through power dynamics, with lesbianism fitting into this somehow.
Which of these options do you find most interesting for a Fire Nation lesbian fic?
Option 1 (Highly homophobic)
Option 2 (lesbian marriage normal but different)
Option 3 (completely socially and culturally ignored)
Option 4 ("Boston Marriages")
Option 5 (lesbian behavior acceptable in some contexts)
Option 6 (Lesbian sex not seen as "sex")
Option 7 (Lesbianism perceived as a behavior, not an identity)
Option 8 (totally social context dependent)
Option 9 (power dynamics)
Option 10 (1950s America)
Option 11 (2010s America)

Frankly, I don't find a single character of Fire Nation girls Who could be lesbian. The only female characters who could have some vibes to be "possibly" lesbians, and It's my personal view, are June and Aunt Wu, and they're a great "maybe". I know, they're not only secondary characters, they're even lowest in their level of importance in the plot, and they're not famous in the fandom.
But they're more interesting, cause everyone thinks about societies where homosexuality Is treated like It was in USA and European Society of XIX century, and for logical reasons, but nobody considers how It could be a society like persian during Sasanian or Qajar Society, or in China and Japan, where they were accepted only in specifical forms, generally between males, and where there is a Master and a Submissed, like in pederastical relationships in Ancient Athen and in Japan.
So, a relationship between equals, and in the basic of society and not in the Highest Society, how It could be considered.
I know, these characters and relationships are parts of the group "Nobody cares and Who the hell would know these useless things?"
Whatever.
it took my uncle 10 minutes to do my hair!
I will never understand the hate for Maiko when they were one of the most realistic teenage relationships. And, also the fact that zuko was so downbad for mai. Like that dude wanted her so bad he was still pining over her when she got into a relationship with another man
I love Maiko too, but they're just TOO MUCH teenagers in the comics.
Because they're not normal teenagers, they should live in a context where they would be considered adults, and they would have to grew up more, mentally and physically.
And in the context of their world and social environment, they generally work together, but not in the comics.
And in a context like AtlA, generally people crave more passionate romantic relationships, or more deep, like in some Epic Poems.
So, I understand some critics.
In your opinion, Ty Lee is...?
Heterosexual
homosexual
bisexual
pansexual
asexual

Opinion/headcanon
She found Sokka attractive, only played with other guys without showing interest, but everyone agrees she's 10% off from lesbian energy.
Personally choosing bi though.
What do you mean 10% off from lesbian energy? well then speak for yourself, you could say she is feminine pinky bubbly and boy-crazt therefore "straight" energy, to be honest I don't see her as anything but straight, azula and mai are just her childhood bestfriends her compliments toward azula were clearly a survival tactic to stay in the line since azula threatened her life to join her, and she does not care about mai's romance life she is just clingy to her friends, her relationship with the kyoshi warriors is meant to be based on sisterhood as in sisters comics she tells the kyoshi warriors that she left for a while to spend time with her sisters but she returned because the kyoshi warriors are her sisters too, implying she sees them no different from her actual sisters that all, besides her boy-crazy energy is very real and she gives even pick-me vibes espeially when she looks down on the kyoshi warriors saying "you're not prettier than we are" or when in smoke and shadow she dismisses mai's bad experience with kei lo with "believe me mai not all guys jerks" which looks like she cared about men's reputation more than her own bestfriend's terrible experience, and later she continues defending a random dude and berates mai
"everyone agrees she is 10% off from lesbian energy" no? speak for yourself? you have not answered yet, as much y'all claim she gives lesbian energy she as much gives straight energy if not more, big deal she hugs and is being clingy to her friends
Have you never heard of hyperbole? "Everyone" is supposed to mean "notably large portion of the fandom."
Have you not seen the shipping fandom where she's usually paired with girls more often than not?
Have you no room for the joy of headcanons and personal interpretation?
Oh, I see, you're a TyLokka shipper... unfortunately... you have a reputation.
What do you mean exactly? yes I have seen and that does not matter
It seems to matter to you because you chose to rant and attack an opinion when the scroll, ignore and block options were all avaible.
In other words: You're just a hater, honestly.
I meant it does not matter how much people ship ty lee with women that will not make her gayer, I did not choose to attack, you were the one generalizing everyone to believe ty lee is lesbian, y'all seem so entitled for ty lee to be queer, well so what? alot of people also believe zuko, azula, mai and etc are gay
You edited "I did not mean to attack in" pal, I saw that. Ps.
I strictly believe azula might be a lesbian but ty lee is straight a hell to me, ty lee is not gay and no matter how much y'all call her she ain't shit, canon is canon, y'all were the ones being so bitter on ty lee being strictly lesbian, and it does not chang the fact you assholely generalized everyone acting like "lesbian ty lee" is universal, I don't owe "lesbian ty lee" anything as she is canonically straight and thats no debate
I strictly believe azula might be a lesbian
You're not saving yourself with this. Also, in your own words "canon is canon." "Azula is not lesbian no matter how much you call her she aint shit." Oh, this rule doesn't apply unless it's for your headcanons? Are you the headcanon police now?
y'all were the ones being so bitter on ty lee being strictly lesbian
Standing my ground agaisnt someone being bitter she's seen as lesbian did not make me look like the bitter one here.
and it does not chang the fact you assholely generalized everyone acting like "lesbian ty lee" is universal
Again, you either don't explore this fandom beyond your strict little corner, or, you don't know hyperbolic expressions.
I don't owe "lesbian ty lee" anything as she is canonically straight and thats no debate
You don't owe a fictional character anything but you certainly owe me an apology.
Ehi, @0bscvr1ty and @jabexhah-blog :
92 minutes of applause!
It's an italian meme and quotation to a famous italian movie, so don't worry if you don't know it.
Finally somebody, in this social, remembers the damned reality, without being homophobic or hating!
Man, as a fan of Ty Lokka, Jetzula, Harula and Ty Haru, finally I see Justice!
And just to say, the first and the last two are more Canon than Tyzula!
BECAUSE THEY APPEAR IN CANON SOURCES!
And that's all, folk!
because our discourses must relate to the sensible world and not to one on paper.
Chapter 6 Canon Katara in AU world
Is now live!
As always, dangling a bait… 👇🏽
⋆⁺₊⋆⊱❀ ༻¨*:·. ★ ·:*¨༺ ❀⊰⋆⁺₊⋆
“What’s wrong?” Katara asks immediately, concern sharpening her voice.
“Nothing,” he mutters, but the way he breathes tells her otherwise.
Her healer instincts flare to life. She stands and moves closer. “Zuko.”
He hesitates, then exhales. “It’s just… He presses a hand to his side, right below his ribs.
Katara doesn’t wait for permission.
She steps behind him and carefully lifts the edge of his top robe. A large, ugly blue-black bruise blooms across his skin, spreading over his ribs and back. The coloring is fresh and angry.
“Zuko! What happened!?” Her voice is soft but urgent.
He keeps his gaze fixed on the table.
“When the vortex took you—well, the other you—I tried to reach for… you... You know what I mean. Anyway, it rejected me. Slammed me across the room and straight into a stone pillar. I didn’t feel it much yesterday with everything going on, but now…”
Katara taps his shoulder lightly. “Take this off.”

south indian wedding zutara
commissioned the lovely NiahtiArt to recreate rashmika and vijay's adorable wedding pics and could not be happier with how they came out.
Ehi @phoebester , about that AtlA's Bollywood AU, here a possibility. Even if I like my fanfic idea of Southern Water Tribe with Irochoise, Inuit and Ancient Arcaic Roman elements, but It's near to my idea on Fire Nation with Qing, Khmer, Japanese and Iranic elements.
And I say that as a fan of Maiko and Kataang, as I always will repeat.
And Well, the idea of Fire Nation as Indo-Aryans and Water Tribes as dravidian It's interesting.
