Rogue Angel [Chapter 1]
This is the first chapter of a book I’m working on. Just wanted to post it to see how people felt about it. Idk but lemme know what you think I guess. It's something I've wanted to do for a while but it didn't feel right I guess. Also, it’s pretty fucking long...
Book Synopsis: Rogue Angel. A name she is known as all over the world. The name to represent her evilness. Tamisra isn't what they all think. Though she does enjoy the fun of being a villain, she thinks it's time to expose the heroes for who they are. After they killed her sister, she took a vow to bring them all down. But she may need some help.
TW: For violence, psychological torture, sweating, kidnapping, and death

Alice struggled against her binds, her heart racing as she saw, who she only knew as ‘The Rogue Angel’ from the media, walking towards her. She looked around the room, stopping when she saw her best friend knocked out and tied standing up across the room. “Please!” She begged, struggling more. “Please don’t hurt him! Hurt me instead.” The Rogue Angel leaned closer to Alice, cocking an eyebrow. “Oh? You think I was only going to hurt him? No. No. No, pretty princess, I was always gonna hurt the both of you.” She whispered in her ear. “I’m just gonna hurt you worse.” Alice struggled, trying to catch fire to the thing holding her.
“Oh honey that’s not gonna work, I’ve wrapped your hands in asbestos fabric and inside a large tantalum hafnium carbide box. Go ahead and try to burn through it." Alice looked up at her arms. She saw her hands inside a small metal looking box that was attached to the ceiling, keeping her standing.
“Now. Let’s wake up this best friend of yours, shall we Alice? You really should learn how to tell if someone is following you. You made it so easy for me to find him! He was the first person you went to after our little head-to-toe.” Rogue Angel said, walking up to Alice’s best friend, James. “Wakey, Wakey James!” She said, slapping him awake. James woke up, screaming when he saw Rogue Angel. She recognized her outfit from the news footage and knew he was in deep shit.
He looked past her and saw Alice. Only he didn’t recognize her as Alice in this outfit. Only as ‘The Phoenix.’ “Phoenix?” He gasped out. “Oh? He doesn’t know? Isn’t that a surprise?” Rogue Angel said, walking back towards Alice. “No. Don’t-”
“Don’t what? Spoil what trust the two of you had? Huh. As if I could do that. You already did it.” She said, ripping off the mask that Alice had on her face. “James. This is your friend. Alice. Remember her? Or did I hit you too hard on the head?”
“Alice?” James said, struggling on his chains, trying to get a closer look.
“There you go, James! Great job!” Rogue Angel walked towards James, leaning into his ear. “Your friend lied to you, James. All those times she said she was doing something else. She was out there, saving the world. How’s it make you feel?”
“I-I.. I dunno. Why didn’t you tell me, Alice?”
“I just- I didn’t want to see you get hurt-”
“How’s that working out for ya, Alice?” Rogue Angel butted in. “Yeah. Maybe if you told me I would’ve been more prepared. I could’ve helped you! But instead, I had to hear it from someone like her?” James yelled. “Ouch.”
“I-I’m sorry. I-”
“Can it, Princess. He doesn’t want to hear your apology. Right, James?”
“I- I can’t lie. I really don’t want to-”
“Great! Now. Let’s let the fun begin then, shall we?” Rogue Angel turned to a table in the middle of the room, opening the box on it, revealing some rather interesting tools. “So, where should we begin?” She said, marveling at all the tools at her disposal. “I know!” She said, turning to James again. “I don’t need tools for this one.” She said, focusing on him.
All of a sudden James couldn’t breathe. His airways were being constricted, no, squeezed. “Stop! Please! He can’t breathe.”
“Honey, that’s the point.” She said, allowing James to breathe again, he started gasping and coughing. “A little breathplay never hurt nobody!”
“Why are you doing this?” Alice asked. “Because, I can.” She said as she began constricting James’ breathing again. “Stop! Please!”
“I like when you beg, keep doing it and I might just stop.”
“Please! Just leave him alone! I’ll take his place! Do whatever you want with me! Just leave him alone! Please! Stop it!” Rogue Angel hummed in approval as she let go of James’ airways.
“I’m getting bored already. How about I give you a chance, one my father never gave me. A fair fight. You beat me, little Jamesy here goes home and you have to stay here, with me. But if I win, he dies and you get to go free.” Rogue Angel said, covering James’ mouth with a piece of duct tape. “Can’t have him interfering.”
“What- I don’t- I don’t understand.” Alice said as she watched Rogue Angel search for a key inside the box of tools. “There’s a lot you won’t understand, Princess. But what you will understand is that sometimes, you have to make sacrifices to survive.” She said, walking over to the box that held Alice’s hands and unlocking it.
“Stop calling me princess.” Alice said, grabbing hold of her hands and rubbing them. “No.” Rogue Angel said as she undid the chains around Alice’s ankles. “Now. We can fight.”
“Here?”
“Yep. Watch your friend.” Rogue Angel said, giggling. Using her mind, she made all the sharp tools in the box, including a very large blade, float into the air, pointed at Alice. “Alright, Princess, let’s dance.” Alice’s hands turned to flames as her eyes glowed a bright orange.
“Aww look at the Pretty Princess. So glowy!” Rogue Angel said, throwing one of the blades at Alice. Alice quickly shot at it with a fireball, only for it to still emerge after contact, slicing Alice’s arm. “Tantalum hafnium carbide. Modified to withstand the hottest you can get.” She said, throwing another knife at Alice. Alice decided to try and dodge it as she threw a fireball directly at Rogue Angel. It hit her, causing her to stumble but she barely had a scratch.
“Fire resistant armor.” She said, smiling and throwing more things at her, faster this time. Alice did the same, throwing more and faster fireballs towards Rogue Angel’s way. Some of them hit her, causing her to fall to the ground, but she managed to catch some and throw them back at Alice.
Alice charged at Rogue Angel, throwing fireballs and dodging blades. Alice managed to get to her, hitting her in the stomach and making her fall back down. She shot a few more fireballs, they didn’t do much else but stun the Rogue Angel as she searched for the key for James’ chains. While looking, Rogue Angel managed to grab ahold of Alice and push her to the ground, blocking her airways in the process. “You know what your problem is, Alice?” She said, walking around her, like a wolf circling its prey.
Alice was too weak to stand, she couldn’t say anything because she couldn’t breathe. She felt helpless. Rogue Angel could see it in her eyes. The fear.
“You fight too fair. Really, you do. You don’t go for the kill. You don’t finish them off. Maybe, if you finished me off, you two wouldn’t be in this mess. But maybe that’s what you wanted, someone to free you of the burden called ‘family’ and ‘friends.’ Really. They are holding you back!” Rogue Angel said, kicking Alice in the stomach.
“Don’t be afraid to kick someone when they’re down.” She said, using her powers to pull a blade from the wall and to her hand. “So. I guess I better hold up my end of the bargain.” She said, walking towards James, her back to Alice.
Right as she was about to thrust the blade into James, she let go of Alice, just enough that she could use her powers. Alice knew she had to do something and Rogue Angel knew she wasn’t thinking right.
“Say goodbye to James, Alice.” Before she could break skin, Alice threw a fireball. Right before it hit, however, Rogue Angel moved out of the way and the fireball hit James directly in the stomach, setting him on fire and killing him.
“Very good, Alice! I didn’t think you had it in you!” She said, completely letting go of Alice’s airways. “You- You don’t understand. I didn’t- I didn’t mean to- I- Oh god what have I done!?” Alice yelled, running towards James. “See? It wasn’t that hard! You’ve just sacrificed someone for yourself! You’ve got to start living for yourself, Sweetheart.”
“What- I- I loved him! Why would I want to kill him?”
“Maybe because it was his life over yours. Duh. What else?”
“You’re sick-”
“Maybe. But so are you. Now, I’m gonna take you home, and how about we go our separate ways, yes?”
“You just expect me to let you go after killing my best friend?”
“Technically you killed him.”
“Fuck you!” Alice yelled, firing fireball after fireball at Rogue Angel. Rogue Angel used her powers to pull a syringe full of an anesthetic out of the box and shoved it into Alice, causing her to fall asleep. “Sorry, Angel, can’t have you burning up the place.” She said as she placed Alice’s hands back in the box that held her hands before. Only this time, she unhooked the box from the ceiling.
Picking up her phone, she called her best friend, Mercury. “Hey, I’m about to drop off Alice. I’ll be home in about 20 minutes.”
“Okay, see you then, Tamisra.”
“Yep, bye Merc-” Before she could finish, Mercury hung up. Tamisra could sense the coldness in Mercury’s voice. She knew he was upset about something, she just didn’t know what, yet. She thought it best to give him some space for now and decided to take the long way home.
Using her powers to pick Alice up, Tamisra took her to the car.
She dropped Alice off at the same place she picked her up, her mother’s house. She left her at the front door, placing the key to the box next to Alice.
Tamisra left, deciding to take a quick stop at a news station. Once she entered, everyone gasped, noting her outfit as the Rogue Angel. “Don’t worry everyone. I don’t want to hurt you. I’m here for an interview. Who can I talk to about that?” Everyone immediately pointed towards the back of the building, towards a small office room for a person named Tori Brass.
Tamisra walked towards the back of the office, opening the door, not bothering to knock. Tori immediately stood, trying to grasp the situation. “I’ve got some things to tell you, Tori. And you’re gonna listen. You are also going to put whatever I tell you, on the air… Got it?” Tori nodded. Tamisra sat down. “Good..”

“In other news, I was fortunate enough to have an exclusive interview with the villain known as the Rogue Angel.”
“Alice! Look! That villain lady is on the news!” Alice’s mom yelled for Alice. Alice ran into the living room, sitting on the couch and turning up the TV.
“I just wanted to thank you for letting me talk with you, Tori.”
“Of course. What is it you wanted to say?” Alice could tell that Tori was nervous. She was pretty good at hiding it though.
“I wanted to talk about the heroes. More specifically, the one you call the Phoenix.”
“Oh? What do you have to say about our beloved hero?”
“Well, I’m sure you all remember our first fight. But what you all don’t know, is that something else happened that day. I was there to try and get you all to listen to me about how corrupt and purely evil all those heroes are. But what they did- They sent your ‘beloved Phoenix’ out to kill me. But see- she didn’t kill me. Instead, she killed a bunch of innocent bystanders. One of which happened to be my sister. Those damn heroes covered it up! Said I killed them!” Tamisra started tearing up. But thankfully for her, her mask covered up her eyes.
“I’m sorry for your loss, Rogue Angel.”
“Did you really do that, Alice?” Alice’s mom asked, standing up. “What- Mom no! Of course not! She’s- She’s lying!”
“I can tell when you’re lying, Alice. Just- Why?”
“I didn’t- I didn’t mean to- Really! Mom please.” Alice said, trying to reach out to grab her mom’s hands.
“Just- give me some time-” She said, leaving the living room. Alice had tears in her eyes. But she decided it was best to leave her alone for now. Sitting back down, Alice turned her attention back to the TV.
“What would you like to say to those heroes? And to those who might not believe you?” Tori asked. “I would like all of you that don’t believe me to know- I’m doing this for my sister. And for those heroes out there: Fuck. You.” The camera panned back to Tori as Tamisra left the stage.
Alice looked at her phone, noticing that one of her fellow ‘heroes’ were calling her. “Shit.” She said, answering the phone. “Hello?”
“Yeah. You need to get here. ASAP.” He said, hanging up.
