I apologise in advance for the despondent tone of this post.

Bit of naughty looking Raw/vegan “Friday Food Porn”, as I’ve scrapped this week’s KitchenAid-centric blog post at the last moment upon having been notified late Sunday night/early Monday morning that my most beloved lifelong Art Guru & Holy Musical Father had passed away. Surely most of you have long known that I’m a raging Bowie fan (note my performance persona & longstanding moniker used for various other artistic projects—including my original blog (DarkStardust dot com), and I now openly admit to having been in a dark, dismal stupor all week.

To be perfectly frank, the release of Blackstar & some hope for future immersion in upcoming David Bowie art was really the only bit of consolation I could find in these past few weeks following the death of my beloved father—who also happened to be another left-handed luminary called David.

The last time I found myself in a similarly inconsolable state was nearly a decade ago, following another double dose of loss within an exceptionally short period of time. I did not handle it well at the time, and then embarked upon a journey of toxic behaviour—including a several-month stray from a healthful, teetotal, raw/living food lifestyle (though I never did break from being vegan, as veganism has been the ethical baseline for the majority of my life). At that time, I simply shelved my raw lifestyle and #sobriety for a time, and spent more time eating loads of gluten-free vegan Thai noodle dishes from various spots around NYC instead of creating anything homemade.

Noodles have always been my go-to comfort food in times of grieving, and #padsiew one of my favourite indulgences. Not quite ready to stray from the path I’ve followed for the past decade, this time I’ve managed to capture the essence of one of my favourite plantbased Thai dishes in #raw form by using young Thai coconut flesh in place of wide rice noodles. This turned out incredibly well, and completely satisfied my desire to create a flavourful raw Thai noodle bowl that was rather comfortingly reminiscent of its cooked counterpart. Performing this experiment with young coconut has actually been on my to-do list for years, & I shall definitely try this again (possibly with intent to blog/share the recipe via RawVeganista dot com).

It was indeed lovely, but my heart is breaking 💔 and making time to create and truly appreciate nice #veganic food has been something of an impossibility of late. In fact, now that my father has gone into hospice, I simply don’t care to eat much of anything at all. 😑

However, I love & am so grateful to all of you who continue to stick with me here & follow the #RawVeganista blog (despite my often lengthy absences from the net), so have eaten & dedicated this small first solid(ish) meal to you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The tea is a lovely #rooibos blend from @waygoodtea, sent for me to sample, review, and share with all of you on the blog. I will do my best to find a moment to post that ASAP, as the tea is really soothing and it’s been awhile since we’ve done a giveaway. Autumn is also a great time for warming herbal infusions! 🍵

As an #introvert I find it easiest to deal with difficult matters on my own and in private, so shall likely remain on hiatus for awhile to deal w/family things & some rather serious changes on the horizon. 🌌🌋

Happy #PiDay!

#SaintPatricksDay is just round the bend, so I’ve done #raw/#vegan/#glutenfree Reuben PIZZA pie in honour of both occasions.

This raw/vegan, grain-free, & nut-free #veganic pie is comprised of the following elements: “Rye bread” crust, topped w/creamy #eggfree/#dairyfree Thousand Island dressing, “corned” #beetroot, and #homemade living food sauerkraut! The crust I have dehydrating at the moment is GREEN, for which the recipe will soon go live on the blog at RawVeganista.com.

Yes, recipes for each additional element will also be shared on the blog (some of which may be found already—at least parts/elements thereof)—shared in several successive posts. A vast multitude of tech issues have made any online activity (including blogging) into a bit of a challenge, so elements must be spaced out a bit (going live in segments between today and Monday). Most time-intensive bits will show first, to make life easier for those of you who choose to work in time with the approaching holiday. live fermentation takes time, so the kraut will go up first, followed by crust, etc. etc.

Anyway, enough rambling for now & blessings to all!
