Stop I was litterally thinking about that one person who said Blake hanahaki au and thought to myself "DamiHux could absolutely fit this too," like what you read my mind.
Lasko was dying and he knew it. Well, not right now, not exactly, but the blood stained petals in his hand could only mean one thing. This couldn't be happening. Why now? Why him? Why, of all people, was he in love with his best friend's boyfriend?
A chocked laugh slipped out of his burning throat followed quickly by more sobs. God that sounded like a bad drama plot. But it was his life. In his defense, they weren't dating when he first met him, but they sure as hell were now. He'd seen them together, seen them being so happy, joking and staring at each other with more love than he had ever had...
He couldn't do it. They didn't deserve that. He didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve the amount of love between them. He carefully wrapped the petals in paper towels, cramming it deep in the garbage so no one would find it. And now he thought, I'll never have it.
He knew what would happen. There were only two options for people with this, and one of those was removed from him. He sighed and sat back heavily in his desk chair. What was he going to do? How was he going to hide this? Should he?... Yes. He had too, Gavin and Freelancer would feel terrible if they knew, probably even break up for his sake, and he couldn't have that.
He pulled his notebook over, if he was going to die, he could at least do some of things he had been too anxious to do before, and there were definitely a lot of things to go on the list.
How funny he thought as he wrote he was so anxious about everything, except now, faced with death, he was as calm as ever.
His phone buzzed, freelancer. Their timing was always perfect. He'd even had a small crush on them, but they were a student so it was easy to dismiss. But not this one. Now he wasn't so lucky.
Hey, you free this Saturday? I was thinking we could go see that new movie.
As he debated on his answer, another wave hit him, coughing, retching and gagging as his body tried to reject what was growing inside of him, the same way he had treated his unwanted emotions.
He shouldn't, but he wanted to see them before it got too bad for him to leave the house. Before he would have to start dodging calls and skipping plans.
As he bundled up the new bunch of flowers he made a deal with himself; One day with each of them. That's all I get. That was all I have time for.
He didn't have long left, and when the time did come, it would be painful and he would be alone, so even if it was selfish, he wanted to see them all, to pretend everything was normal and that he could have a future filled with love, just like them.
Ok ok hear me out on my HBS predictions for this year.. even tho they’ve very much self indulgent and unlikely..
I feel like this year (if erik does HBS) is going to be a bit less ‘horny established relationship’ heavy and more teasing on the newer characters and characters who haven’t yet confessed.
•Morgan - ok this one is sooo unlikely but imagine a flirty coffee date
•Hush - once again, not exactly established partners, but it would be a great way to expand on their relationship in a less lore heavy way. Think a heatwave where Doc is left to spend the day inside with Hush.
•The entire MAAM crew - once again unlikely but it would be such a good way for Erik to soft launch polymaam in a subtle way. Think the Damihux confession vibes where they’re all having a group outing to the beach or maybe a theme park. Not really freaky or anything, just some fan service type stuff lmao.
•Also some of the OGs - eg. David, Vincent, or Gavin. I feel like Laskos likely too. I’d imagine, to make up for the lack of horniness in the others, these would be all out freak mode like last year.
•Porter - idk why I just got a feeling
•I 100% hope some characters who don’t get a lot of recognition have a return for this hbs - maybe Aaron, Guy, Elliot. I feel like these would just be some fun videos that really lean into the individuality of these characters. Think Guy/Honey doing fun picnics and Aaron/Smartass idk buying new desk fans lmao. Obvs with some good levels of spice.
•I also feel like we’re gonna get some super random curveball character (kinda like how we got Annorax for the Fooliverse) - maybe a Fooliverse character return, a completely random one off character, or a DamiHux appearance.
• I’m praying for another Blake HBS but not a flashback - like a Blake one while he’s actively being possessed. Or maybe worse, one that takes place in an ideal reality inside of Besties dream.

Every time I relisten to the series I pick up on details hinting to what was really going on.
The biggest one being the whole "no human or demon can stay in the Meridian!" Meanwhile Avior and Starlight were actively in the Meridian. That one still makes me mad that I didn't notice it

Not going to lie I struggled here, I'm not super familiar with Babe. They've always been a pretty blank slate in my mind, working on changing that.
(They're very committed to their passions and can be snappy when it's called for, They have to be considering they're with Asher.)

(This was vibes based, Delphox gives a type of confidence and attitude I think fits Babe.)
Angel:
Type: Fairy/Flying
(This one is self explanatory, their named Angel.)
Buddy: Togekiss
(It's the exact type match and it's a pokémon that hates conflict! Angel can and will stand up for themselves but they would much rather be cozying up with their loved ones all the time.)
Sweetheart:

(Because invisibility obviously)
Buddy: Chandelure
(Sweetheart is a classy person and Chandelure is a classy looking pokémon. Also young Sweetheart carrying a litwick is a cute thought.)
Darlin:

(Brawler with a past mean streak, it makes sense.)
Buddy: Pangoro
(A pokémon who charges in headfirst with no regard for it's own safety? AND it can't stand people who prey on others? It's a match made in hell.)

(This one feels like cliche pick but that's because it's good! Eevee can evolve into so many types just like how freelancers can learn any kind of magic. Personally I think Freelancer has no plans to evolve their eevee.)

(A pretty and calming pokémon for a pretty and calming person. Dear would be into pokémon contest more then battles in my opinion.)

(it's an adorable little guy with haunted eyes and a very large amount of powerful psychic power even it's botherd by. Look, I made this list because I knew dreamer needed an Espurr.)

(They're just trying to live their life, often acts as a grounding presence for the people around them. Debated rock as the secondary for the same reason but normal felt better.)
Buddy: Snorlax
(Oh boy, this one was so damn hard for me. I love honey which means I thought way to much about it. I did consider ursaring because it's a normal type bear. I also thought about doing combee as a joke but in the end Snorlax feels like a better fit for a person who just doesn't want to be bothered.)

Here's Gavin being a Disney princess (would have been done faster if my phone didn't restart in the middle of me writing this, but we ball) hope you enjoy!
The air was cool from the approaching storm, the very thing Gavin had gone out for. But that was a long time ago, Gavin hadn't been responding to his phone and the wind was starting to pick up.
They found him sat on a bench, watching the storm with what was likely the reason he had been unreachable: cats. Seven of them. A large gray cat curled up on his lap, purring almost as loud as the approaching storm, a tabby sat at his feet, the bench beside him occupied by five mewing kittens, only a few weeks old if they had to guess.
They leaned against the back of the bench beside him, watching him gently pet the rumbling ball in his lap. "You sure are popular."
"Oh, Hello my love. I earned the trust of a family of cats while you were away."
"I can see that. They are very cute-" as freelancer finished speaking the gray cat stood up, stretched and trotted off, closely followed by the tabby. "Damn, I guess they don't like me."
"Hmm, they may trust me a bit too much."
"Wait! Did they leave their kittens?!"
"Looks like Caelum is getting siblings."
"Gavin! We can't just steal their kittens! What if they come back to find them missing?"
He sighed. "I suppose you're right. We'll bring them back, but we can't leave them out in the storm."
"... That's true... They better come back. Bad parents." They pulled off their jacket, picking up the kittens gently as they screamed in protest and using it to carefully hold all of them. Even as Freelancer got them settled against their chest they kept yelling and trying to crawl away.
"Shoot! No, don't do that or you'll fall!"
"Do you want me to try holding them, darling?"
"Yes, please use your magic animal powers."
Gavin gingerly took the bundle of kittens which quieted down almost instantly, clawing at his chest instead of attempting to free themselves. "... That's bullshit."
He had the audacity to laugh at them "I'm sure they'll warm up to you once we get them home and comfortable." Freelancer still grumbled as they started their walk home.

They set the kittens up in their bathroom as the storm finally hit Dahlia, listening to the mewls of the kittens blend with the thunder and rain. They set out towels so the kittens wouldn't keep slipping on the tile, not that they needed it considering the five kittens were climbing all over Gavin, barely touching the floor. He looked a little uncertain, holding his hands away to avoid touching them. The sight made Freelancer giggle as they set out a plate filled with water.
"Gavin, are you scared of them?"
"I'm not scared, I just... They're so small."
"You had no problem carrying them home."
"I just copied how you were holding them, I don't know how to hold them myself." He admitted, one of the kittens digging it's claws into his shirt as they tried to climb up him.
"Aw, baby, you want me to move them off?"
"Yes, please do." Freelancer carefully pulled off each of the kittens, carefully unhooking their tiny paws as they screamed in protest. They had to keep moving the kittens back as they tried to crawl back to Gavin.
He stood up "I'll track down something they can eat. If you're willing to take care of them until I get back?"
"Of course. I got this." He blew them a kiss before he rifted out. The kittens eventually seemed to realize Gavin was gone. One of them decided Freelancer was better than nothing and waddled over yelling to be held.
"Oh hello baby, you cold?" They picked up the kitten, carefully rubbing it with a towel to warm it up before placing it in their lap. By the time Gavin got back they had all of the kittens warmed up and settled on them... Which immediately stopped when they realized he was back.
They climbed off and ran over to Gavin "And there they go again. This is bullshit. I have no idea why they are so attached to you."
"Well, I am quite lovable, aren't I?" He sat down, bag in hand and was instantly swarmed by four kittens, one having fallen asleep on Freelancers thigh.
"I guess so. Still rude that you're stealing my kittens."
He smirked "Jealous are we?"
"They are kittens Gavin. How could I not be???" He laughed, stupidly beautiful and disarming as always.
"In their defense, this time I have food."
"Then explain why not a single one has shown interest in that bag."
He shrugged, pulling out two syringes and a container of formula for the kittens. "Well, considering I have no idea how to feed them, I'm sure that'll change quite soon."
"Oh, right. Pass me one of those." They showed him how to fill up the syringe "They should be able to eat mostly by themselves, you just have to control the pace so they don't eat too fast. They will try so be careful of that. You pick them up like this..." They picked a kitten off of Gavin, much to its displeasure. "Hold it like this... Yeah, that's good. Put the syringe near their mouth... And there they go."
Gavin got the hang of it pretty quickly, having no problem keeping the kittens calm as he fed them. "How do you know all of this, freelancer? I didn't think you'd ever had a cat."
"I haven't, but one of my friends back in highschool did. I helped them out when their cat had kittens and thankfully I still remember most of the stuff they told me."
"Well, those cats are very lucky I have you to help me then. I can't say I'm surprised, you've always been incredibly smart."
They leaned their head against his shoulder. "You're so sweet sometimes."
He kissed the side of their head "Of course. I love you, it only makes sense I try to show it in any way I can."
"I love you too, Gav."
The two of them sat in comfortable silence, watching as the kittens finally curled up to sleep, one of them even started putting against Gavin's leg. Even Freelancer dozed off against Gavin's shoulder, as he did his best to carve every part of the moment into his memory. It was simple moments like this that he loved the most.
