also quick infopost about trans/cis intersex people (or otherwise intersex people who dont solely identify as intersex for their sex/gender)
most intersex people are either assigned a sex at birth based on their external genitalia at birth, or have their genitals forcibly and non consensually mutilated at birth in order to make their genitals "fit" a typical penis or vagina. keep in mind that there are several things that make up a persons sex, and virtually all of these things can be changed, swapped, or removed completely through hormones and surgeries (yes, you can change your sex)
the thing about assigned sexes is that most of us are brought up being made to conform to certain gender roles. this is distressing to trans people, but also intersex people! lots of intersex people identify as trans and/or nonbinary
but also, some intersex people identify as cis! most people believe that being cis means you were "born" a sex and stayed that way. however, theres a lot of reasons an intersex person would identify as cis. an intersex person who was assigned male or female at birth might just agree with the assignment. on the other end, lets say an intersex man learns that he was born with a penis but had it mutilated at birth. that intersex man might just identify as cis instead of trans for comfort reasons. some intersex people, whether we would consider them transsexual or not based on their transition or not, just want to identify as cis, and thats ok! because cis/trans and perisex/intersex are two completely different things
on the other hand, LOTS of intersex people identify as trans. theres a lot of intersex people on tumblr who identify as transfemmasc, transmascfem, cistrans, both a trans man and a trans woman at the same time, nonbinary, ect. but also a good portion of us would identify as "binary" trans people. a lot of intersex people are forced to transition one way or another to conform to cis/perisex society, or are otherwise assigned a sex at birth and live as that sex, but then decide that thats not them
its unknown what my genitals were at birth as i cannot access my birth records due to being adopted. i cant rule out that i was born with a penis, especially with my ambiguous genitalia already. i have a lot of shared experiences with people who were born with penises but were forcibly reassigned to female. but i was assigned female at birth, lived as a girl, experienced misogyny for all of my life, and then ultimately realized that im a trans man. i knew i was trans BEFORE i knew i was intersex (did you know that can happen? it happens a lot). a big part of my identity as a transsexual is that i am changing most of my sex traits to male from (alledged) female. i experience transphobia, i live my life as a trans man, whether i was "technically born with a penis" is irrelevant, if i still HAD a penis i wouldve still gone through estrogenated puberty because i was also born with a uterus. and i would probably still identify as trans in some way because i would still go through surgeries and hormones to masculinize myself
so thats the whole deal. ultimately if you're still confused, refer back to step one of queerness: we can do whatever the fuck we want. theres no rules. intersex people often have a funky relationship with their gender and sex, and an intersex person identifying as cis or trans (or any mix of the two and more) just boils down to what they fucking want to identify as
