Hornblower Charm design for my Etsy shop coming soon ^_^
- What did you even tell that artist?
- I wasn't...I didn't!!! I was simply trying to get Gabriel off our backs by-by planting evidence of our rivalry!
- Uh-huh
- I didn't think they'd draw me looking like a strongman!! Or...or quite so hairless...
-That is a shame...
Cough! Splutter! Thank you Steviesmithmakeup on instagram
Where's that comment?
Hello Tumblr!
@jubs here, today, to tell you about a feature we're building: Comments by author!
Comments (or replies) have been around for a while, but they have always been tucked away from your regular feed, and so we're working on a few ways to integrate them into the rest of our experience.
Soon, blogs will have a Comments tab alongside Posts, Likes, and Following. There, you will be able to see posts other people have been commenting on, and, more importantly, find your own comments! This was not possible before, except through notifications if someone engaged with your comment.
We're also working on a way to surface posts commented on by people you follow in your feeds. You will be able to find those in the For You tab, and later, alongside chronological posts in the Following tab.
So, how do you identify those posts in the feeds?
Replied posts will show a small preview right there in your dashboard, before you click anything.
This is not out yet, but soon! In the meantime, tell us what you think and expect from this! ☺︎
Launch Day
@jubs again!
First of all, thank you all for the feedback in the original post!
Today, we're launching the new "Comments" tab for Blog pages, and we'll be testing a For You recommendation based on comments from people you follow. The posts will have a preview of the reply, so you know why you're seeing that post.
You will be able to control the new tab visibility, and whether we should include your comments in your follower's feeds, through a new setting:
The toggle can be found on https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/YOUR_BLOG or in the General Settings > Replies section, on Mobile. If you have already disabled the "Share posts you like" setting, the setting will default to disabled.
The new tab is only available on Web and iOS (44.8+) for now, but the toggle is available to everyone (including on Android), so you can control what other people see on your blogs, even if you don't have the new feature yet. Don't worry, we have plans to implement the tab and posts on Android, soon!
---
We want to later include these replied posts to the Following feed as well, and we're planning on adapting the current "Include posts liked by the blogs you follow" toggle to also consider comments, in case you don't want to see shared comments from people you follow.
What do you think? As always, we appreciate your thoughts, keep 'em coming!
The toggle is definitely appropriate (though I would much prefer it be set to off by default regardless of other settings), however this doesn't address how the reply/comment sharing would work with unrebloggable posts, which is a serious concern.
If someone makes a post about, for example, a recent cancer diagnosis that they have restricted reblogs on, under exactly zero circumstances should that post ever be pushed to the feeds of people who do not follow the OP. They have made it clear by disabling reblogs that they do not want the post spread around, and there should be no exceptions to that.
Additionally, but less crucially, I still don't want to see every post the people I follow reply to. Let me turn that off. They can share all they want, I don't wanna look.
just saw a 'comments' tab on someones blog you know where the following and likes tabs would be if enabled and it was just showing all the replies theyve made on peoples posts. this is fascinating when did this feature come out
EMERGENCY - ITS AUTO ENABLED!
if you've made replies on posts there is now a tab on your blog showing every post youve replied to and your reply.
if this is not what you want, either go to your blog and click comments and disable it from there or just go to your individual blogs setting pages. just change it from blue to grey if you dont want everyone to see your replies AND the post you're replying to
PLEASE BE ADVISED that it is set to disabled for blogs that have not made any replies but it will turn ON if you reply with that blog in the future.! i just tested it with my main, which was greyed out but it turned on the moment i left a test reply
figured i'd get the word out bc i have not seen a single mention of this and i'm sure there are plenty of people who maybe comment on things they don't want on display for everyone to see on their blog lol. you can still look at your replies with it toggled off just no one else can, like locking the following and likes list
so for some reason this feature was actually announced on the tumblr engineering blog. interesting choice not to reblog it to the staff or tumblr blog, esp considering they asked for user input on how to implement it, but i suppose considering the response to the last update maybe the replies would be too overwhelming...
so couple of clarifications. comments are disabled as default for primary blogs that have their likes disabled. they are seemingly enabled for all other blogs that have replied to posts
posts you comment on may show on your followers 'for you' page if you leave your replies publically available. they may, in the future, show in on your followers dashboard if your follower goes to their dash settings and enables this. apparently, if your likes are enabled, your followers can already see those on the dash if they've gone into preferences and selected to do so, which I was unaware of, and that seems to be disabled at default, but it's possible i disabled it previously and forgot about it ig
the link in that last reblog doesn't work (at least not for me) so here's what seems to be the relevant post.
it was all just one horrible nightmare crowley had. then he woke up in the cottage, wrapped in aziraphale’s arms.
This Pride Month, we’re celebrating the beauty of diversity above and below the surface. The ocean is full of vibrant life in every color imaginable. It reminds us that nature thrives when everyone has space to belong.
Environmental advocacy and the LGBTQ+ rights movement share a common purpose: protecting vulnerable communities, caring for the spaces we all call home, and creating a world where we all can flourish. Our world is brightest when people can live authentically, love freely, and be embraced for who they are. From rainbow reefs to shimmering tides, diversity makes our blue planet stronger, healthier, and more inspiring.
Here’s to protecting our ocean, uplifting every voice, and honoring the colorful communities that make this world so wonderful.
Happy pride month to everyone! and to my fav genderfluid, agender; demon and angel.
Happy Pride Month 🌈

some hyper famous artists like Van Gogh transcend overratedness and become underrated because they're so normalized. Like I'll look at a van Gogh and I'm like wait this really is amazing you guys don't get it
Shakespeare is like this
Every time I see a Van Gogh that’s not one of his better known pieces it absolutely blows me away
Have you seen this shit my liege? smh unreal
This month’s ineffable toast- why not have frou frou cocktails and celebrate my favorite month of the year? 🥳🏳️🌈💜
🏳🌈HAPPY PRIDE MONTH🏳🌈 and Hell, Pandemonium LLC. has PAPERWORK about it.
June’s Infernal Resources Monthly Incident Report has landed and the classification is simultaneously Gross Misconduct AND Commendation and Hell is having a very bad time about it.
Crowley was caught fraternising at Pride but also, accidentally, delivered exceptional human disruption. All while committing "Unauthorised Happyness" against a certain angel’s temple.
Watertight case. For commendation. SATAN DAMN IT.
So in the spirit of Crowley being technically, bureaucratically, cosmically impossible to punish for loving who he loves:
Wear the thing. Say the thing. Hold the hand. Kiss the person. Be perceived, loudly and on purpose. (Aziraphale would want you to be safe though, so maybe keep just a little reason, tucked in your pocket, just in case).
Happy Pride. 🌈
How to Write When You Don't Feel Like Yourself
There are going to be days (or weeks, or months) where you sit down to write and feel... disconnected. From your voice, from your characters, from your ideas. Like the person who used to write your stories just packed up and left.
They didn't. They're just tired. Here's how to keep writing anyway:
Lower the bar (Until it's on the floor) You are not here to write something brilliant. You are here to write something. A paragraph. A sentence. A single line of dialogue. Movement matters way more than quality.
Write around the story Don't force it. If you can't write the scene, try: ⋆ A character ramble / journal entry ⋆ A conversation that won't be included in the final draft ⋆ A list of things the character would never admit out loud ⋆ A messy summary of what should happen Engage with the story from a different angle.
Borrow a voice until yours comes back No, not with AI. Read something that feels close to what you want to write, or watch a scene that captures the tone, then write immediately after. Not to copy, to reignite your instincts.
Write the emotion, not the plot. What is your character feeling in this moment? What are they afraid of? What do they want but won't say? What's being kept from them? The emotion leads, the plot catches up later.
Stop trying to "feel like a writer" first. You don't write when you feel like a writer. You feel like a writer because you write.
You are still a writer, even on the days it feels distant. Especially then.
Reblogging for the writers who need to hear it, but also for the readers who have no idea how much work and courage it takes to write and post the stories they love to read.
All of this. One more that I may humbly add that works for me is retype the chapter.
For me, opening a new doc and placing it side-by-side against what I've written, and then transcribing what's already been done (and editing in the process) helps ground me in the scene/chapter/voice/characters and helps me discover ways to get unstuck (maybe I didn't explore an emotion earlier that needed to be dug into. Maybe they should not have left that room when they did and lingered longer. Maybe the conversation needed to get cut off before the character made the statement that derails everything). Starting from the beginning is like re-tracing your steps and editing at the same time, and most times it really helps get the brain closer to where it needs to be.
And yeah, I've done it multiple times on the same chapter. How many? You'll have to buy me a drink before I tell you that.
