On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."

As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.

As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.

I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.

May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.

OK, I voted yes it's rude, but also this person is also the drama. You can move and honestly it is nowhere near as ubiquitous as cigarette smoke.

I have never gotten a second hand high, and I'm cheap enough to have tried.

While my body seems to have gotten over itself a bit about it, just the fumes off someone's clothes used to cause me to get severely dizzy, have tachycardia/palpitations, nausea, and severe headache. The one time as a kid i was near someone actively smoking *outside* i got to add vomiting and passing out to that, so I'm suspecting hypotension.

Now the clothing fumes just cause me a little dizziness and a headache that stays around for a couple hours.

Being in an enclosed venue with someone actively smoking could possibly still give me a very bad time. I've just not played that game which means I've never gone to places like clubs or raves even though i think I could enjoy it in theory.

*edit* speak of the goddamned devil, the last clients at my work must be hotboxing themselves in their car regularly because the entire clinic reeks of weed and I was trapped in the exam room with them and their ringworm cat. Even with my N95 mask I've got a headache.

Fun and EXTREMELY IRONIC fact if you know my upbringing.

I'm allergic. Sneezing, nose running, eyes watering, face itching. The whole nine yards. I will NEVER use anything involving the stuff solely because that sounds like a really dumb way to maybe die, or at least become very miserable for a few.

It's a plant y'all. You can, in fact, be just as allergic to it as any other kind of plant. And you can develop one later on too, even if you've been around it your whole entire life. So yanno. Be safe. Smoke in well ventilated areas. Don't surprise anyone with it being around. Pretty sure having somebody's throat close up from a severe allergic reaction will kill your buzz anyway.
