This is an excellent demonstration of the hypocrisy and inevitable self-destruction of fascism.

Spongebob is a perfect subject under capitalism; he is an ideal worker, exploited by his boss for every penny, as well as an excellent consumer. Liberal capitalism wants a hundred Spongebobs, all content with minimum wage grind, no ambition, making enormous surplus labor for the Mr. Krabses of the world.

Fascism adds the layer of hate to create not just an economic underclass but a moral one. The moral underclass must be destroyed - but in so doing, fascism undermines itself. It relies on the economic class like any capitalistic society, it needs the Spongebobs it seeks to destroy.

To coin a paraphrase, the problem with fascism is that eventually you run out of other people's corpses.

Bats spends the entire episode losing his mind, because he KNOWS it's an act because NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT and Joker reacts with total calm and understanding when he finds Batman in his pantry at 2AM. Political pet peeve but nothing being done is a "distraction" from anything else. Everything that the current administration is doing is an extension of American imperialism and conservative American values. Iran is not being bombed to "distract from the Epstein files", trans legislation is not being passed to "distract from Palestine", none of this is happening just to "distract" you. And dismissing certain issues as "distractions" is a horrific excuse of them.

It is, however, happening all at once to overwhelm you. And there is a HUGE difference.

keep thinking about how I wrote in my dissertation about how every time a new form of public/social space emerges it's immediately popular with kids and teenagers who see it as a chance at freedom and then adults colonise it and kick them out. this happened with malls in the 80s and diners in the 50s and pool halls in the 20s. my dad was doing research on this trend in like 1975. and I was like "yeah so this is going to happen to the internet" and then five years later every government suddenly decided to ban kids from everywhere online. I hate being right especially when I don't even get paid for it
