Hannibal (2013-2015) blooper reel
Let service industry workers say âfuckâ please
I used to work at a sandwich place that also did lattes n stuff. Weâd get nasty customers every once in a while, and when we did, we got to unleash Neal. Let me explain...no, it is too much, let me sum up:
The manager moved from the deep south to get this job, heâd been looking for a job in the PNW, and he somehow talked the owners into letting his platonic life mate, Neal, be the Assist Manager. So he, his wife, and his BFF forever come and take over this shop but the owners must not have actually...spoken...to Neal. He was INSANE. I mean, I never had trouble with him, but he frightened the new girls with his crazy eyes, liked knives way too much and looked like one of those tiny white guys who was spoiling for a fight and couldnât back it up...except he could. 500 pounds of crazy in a 120 pound bag, you might say. But he was perfect, PERFECT for jerk customers who bullied new girls. Hereâs an example:
So one day, Iâm schlepping sandwiches, and I see the new coffee girl just...get yelled at by this big dude, who seemed way too comfortable yelling at strangers in front of other strangers in a line behind him, and maybe, if this had been somewhere else, he would have gotten away with it, because I have noticed strangers let randos yell at hapless teen college student girls who are tiny and just trying to get a buck man wow that is a whole ass THING anyway I stepped away from my sandwich, went into the back where Neal was slicing vegetables happily with a knife and tapped him in for an intervention.
My man Neal steps out from the back with knife in hand, bless. Steps up to the front and watching the chain reaction of coworkers hiding smiles, customers get big eyes, the new girl being alarmed and confused, and the big dude yelling just...not knowing what was about to happen was this...free show I just ate up om nom nom.
He does the managerial, what seems to be the problem (knife in hand), guy yells, wants his money back. Neal is all, so sorry, sure you can have money back (knife in hand slowly moving), guy yells, new girl steps back, unsure. Neal is all, but you canât yell, sir, this a place of business, canât we be reasonable (knife finally rest on counter, now Neal goes for his apron strings uh oh), and all the workers know this means Neal is about to be able to claim he was on break when he punched this guy.
Snacks are coming out. Tea is being drunk. Sandwiches are not being made. The whole place is bated breath on the free show. This is prime popcorn.gif territory irl.
Neal asks the dude to step outside, and the dude goes out! Big plate glass windows, everyone can see but not hear as the beast is unleashed. Neal is up in his grill, not touching, waiting just waiting for the yelling big dude to make the first point of contact. And folks, I am here to tell you that dumbass pushed Neal first and wow have you ever seen a hunting terrier just go for the ankles and take a beast down? It was like that. This guys chickened out so fast from the force of the maniac Assist Mngr âon his breakâ and it was a beautiful thing to watch. Dude never came back, and the new girl was way more comfortable after that.
So hey. If you ever talk your way into running a shop where you know assholes are going to be mean to your workers, make sure to bring your feral best friend with the crazy eyes who likes knives way too much to defend them.
This familyâs boat ride turned into a dramatic whale rescue â and the whale spent an hour thanking them in the best way!
iâm actually crying and as a side note, fuck sea world

Hey guys if you havenât this movie its called The Breadwinner and last I checked it could be streamed off of Netflix. Itâs an amazing film about a girl who disguises herself as a boy in order to provide for her family, who is living in Afghanistan during a dangerous political climate. Itâs beautifully animated and incredibly well-written. Me and my younger sister (she is ten years old) thoroughly enjoyed it. So did my mom and dad when we watched it with them later.Â
It is based on a book of the same name. I read the book when I was in Elementary school. It is great. I also encourage you ne read it.
Itâs also made by the studio responsible for Song of the Sea and Secret of Kells, both of which are phenomenal. Unfortunately they also werenât very profitable. These people really deserve a lot more recognition for their amazing, beautiful work, and if you think so too you should definitely keep your eye out for their upcoming project, WolfwalkersÂ
They were also behind the song sequence in âThe Prophetâ
The studio is called Cartoon Saloon and theyâre based in Ireland.
Iâm a simple person, I see anything praising cartoon Saloon, I reblog. Support these guys!!

how what???
Iâm not good with the science of this or anything (someone who knows more feel free to add) but fish can play??? Fish can play like any other animal?? People saying it couldnât breathe, do human kids not hold their breaths to go under water for fun? Itâs just the opposite. Air is water, water is air. In the same vein as a kid being thrown up and into the pool and enjoying it, the fish is playing.
okay⊠as someone who studies marine biology I need to clarify something:
fish are unable to hold their breaths. They literally cannot take a deep breath like mammals do.
We have lungs that can take in a specific volume of air, fish have gills that work when they are ventilated enough. There are different kinds of gills, yes. Some fish have something called âoperculumâ which is like a cap on top of the gills, helping to protect them and increasing the water circulation through the gills. Some fish DONT have this structure and need to swim in order to be able to breathe.
But the fact that they cannot hold their breaths doesnt mean that they cannot survive without water for a while - in fact, fish can (usually) survive being without water WAY LONGER than we could survive being without air.
I cannot tell if this fish does this for fun, but it sure looks like it. But I am not a behavioural biologist, so I canât tell for sure.
It is abundantly clear the fish is a willing participant. Itâs sort of arrogant to assume animals other than humans donât play like humans.
Im not a behavior biologist either, but I have spent a lot of time around fish and ive spent a lot of time talking to and helping people that care for fish. (Former petstore fish guy that took his job too seriously)
That fish is having fun, and fish absolutely DO have fun!
There was a regular who came into the store I worked at a lot, and he kept several varieties of chichlids, a very smart, aggressive type of fish.
He would come in and talk to me about all the drama his fish get into. The different territorial disputes they were having, who had paired off with who, who broke up (yes chichlids are like this)
But he had a jack dempsey in particular that LOVED to chase his hand around the tank, not his wifeâs hand, not his friendâs hand, it HAD to be him. He said that as soon as he entered the room where this fishâs tank was kept, the fish would TEAR UP the tank decor, knocking things over and acting a fool off his shits until this dude stuck his hand in there and let the fish chase it around back and forth.
He theorized that his fish learned that if he knocked the tank decor around, his owner would obviously have to stick his hand in to fix it. So when he wants to play âchase dadâs handâ thats naturally how he knows he can get the hand to appear. He wont do this behavior for anybody but this one guy and he wonât tear up the tank anymore after he had received sufficient âplay timeâ, usually once a day when the guy got home from work. He likened it to having a dog that wont leave you alone till you play tug o war for a bit.
I had a betta that would spend twenty minutes at a time just swimming up to the waterfall of the filter, letting it push him down to the bottom of the tank, only to swim back up and do it again, like it was a fucking slide.
Bettas are weak swimmers, and they dislike strong currents, but this guy was using the filter current like a slide. Kinda like how we donât really like getting thrown around, but we still enjoy rollercoasters.
I also have countless stories about goldfish trying to âgive hugsâ (re: shove themselves into their owners hands during tank maintenance)
My betta knows how to lie and he will only beg for food in front of those he knows have not fed him yet.
There is so much evidence Iâve seen that fish are waaaay smarter and affectionate than we think. They absolutely have fun and I honestly donât think enough studies have been done on fish brains and fish behavior in general.
And honestly, having worked in a pet store, fish are generally treated like they donât have brains by even the fish care brands that claim expert knowledge.
Its definitely worth noting that hard scientific evidence presenting that the very opposite is true would probably lead to more robust animal welfare laws that would definitely upset the aquatics industry. Food for thought.
I think youâre absolutely right on that last point. The misconception that fish are too thoughtless to have feelings facilitates the abhorrent conditions in which they are kept and ways they are treated by the industry.
I used to have a lovely tank, I think it was 50 gallons, and among other things I kept glass catfish. All the research at the time said they were hard to keep in captivity and prone to refusing to eat and starving themselves, and that they did not live long in captivity. But I was fascinated and had to try it. It took me about three days to realize none of the literature said a word about them being nocturnal. I started feeding them at night right before bed, and had zero problems getting them to eat, saw they were incredibly active as soon as the lights went off (I have exceptional night vision) and I kept them in excellent health for years. Exponentially beyond their captive life expectancy.
I think the commercial pet fish trade is abysmal in terms of actual working knowledge of fish.
Fish Intelligence (a link at which you will also learn there is a fish called the bony-eared assfish) has been studied on a pretty broad scale, actually and thereâs a lot of scientific evidence to suggest that they are very smart creatures.
Used to own tons to different fish, mostly cichlids, plecos, and oscars. Bettas and guppies sometimes, but i enjoyed the cichlids most.
They absolutely do play, they recognize faces to an extent, they have individual preferences, they are every bit as picky and quirky as other animals. I had a dinosaur bashir that loved to be held and slither around my fingers. The convict cichlids liked to play chase with us. One of the jack dempseys liked to be booped. And the oscar? God I loved my big albino boy. He liked to play peekaboo with only me, and I was the only one that could reach into his tank without getting attacked.
Also, me and my ex used to routinely steal fish from petstores because we hated supporting the shitty conditions they put them in. Canât even count the number of bettas I rehabbed. (How does one steal fish you might ask? Big purse, mason jars/ziploc bags, and a store that has no one that works in reptiles/aquatics in the evening and zero cameras lmao)
Humans tend to think just because an animal doesnât have the same kind of intelligence as us, or express their affection the same way as us, means that they are dumb creatures that just⊠Exist. Like no better than machines. We cannot measure a species intelligence by comparing it to our own if they arenât related to us. Like, sure, put us and other apes together, thatâs a somewhat fair (though not without flaws) assessment. Comparing a fish to a human though??? Nah.
Anyway. Fish like to play, and they can be affectionate in their own way.
We are forced to live in a system that steals from us daily, Kill snitch culture.
Important things to keep in mind!
- never take from âmom and popâ type store. Its likely youâll actually harm them, whereas taking from a walmart wont effect much.
- never take items that a worker is assigned to monitor (usually super expensive items), theyll be in trouble for it. and its usually a minimum wage worker and usually they lose hours or pay, or they even get fired.
- similar to the above, never take things that are usually locked up for the above reason
- if its a store you know gives their near-expiration products to workers/charity, try to avoid taking the near expiration products.
- if youre taking clothing, avoid leaving hangers. it sounds weird, but itll make it seem like it was more likely an error in the computer than a theft, since the empty hanger sitting there will seem suspicious.Â
- also for clothing, try not to take more than one item at once, as it will look suspicious if theres 10 medium shirts missing, and it wonât be written off as just a stocking error. and it will lead to workers being penalized
- basically just always consider âwill this harm a workerâ and if the answer is yes then dont do it
like i was homeless for a while when i was younger and i tried to follow those guidelines to avoid doing harm to people who were probably not much better off than me while trying to get food for myself.
Holy crap, is there like an unspoken thieves code or something?!
itâs a thing. I wonât even lie. I watched someone slip a nursing exam book in their bag at the store I worked at. She made eye contact with me and the blood drained from her face. I simply gave her a sympathetic nod and walked away.
I live in a small town and I knew she was a waitress at a hotel my sister works at, and people at that hotel donât tip well during off season. Nursing exam books are 50+ bucks. Being a med student myself, I didnât even breathe a word, and when inventory came up later and the book was missing, I suggested it was likely a mislabel, and the manager wrote it off.
Sometimes, thievery is a necessity. Donât send people to jail over petty things.
theft for many is survival in this system and taking away from multi-billion dollar companies that are a part of the oppressive capitalist system
I love this post so much. Like, an unbelievable amount.Â
And they say thereâs no honour among thieves.
Thereâs honour among honourable thieves. A thief is still a person, with the capability for good and bad, just like everyone else. The moment someone assumes either good or bad of someone, they perpetuate that belief into reality.Â
Never been a big part of this myself but I approve and shall pass it on
gods i fucking cried
This part stood out to me especially
This is really important, especially now during the holidays. You owe nothing to nobody if they make you uncomfortable.
Youâre always allowed to leave.
Queen Hatshepsut of Ancient Egypt. She has a lovely smile for someone whoâs been dead for thousands of years.
she wasnât a queen. she was a pharaoh and wanted to be referred to as such. she even had her statues modeled after the male pharaohâs statues to state her dominance and authority. she was actually one of the most successful pharaohs in all of ancient egyptian history and she reigned longer than any other woman in power in egypt.
damn no wonder she died and smiled for a trillion years afterwards
The fact that we know about her is marvelous.
the next Pharaoh after her Tuthmosis IIIÂ tried to erase Hatshepsut out of history ,chiseled her name off her monuments ,covered the text on her obelisks with stone, knocked down and defaced her statues .
she was even left off the list of pharaohs ..talk about some patriarchy bullshit
her name was lost for a couple of millennia, her body was found in a unmarked grave in early twentieth century
sad part is in Egyptian belief is if your are forgotten in the living world you donât exist in the afterlife,so he was trying to kill her even in deathÂ
My best friend throwing down some herstory. A+ commentary
She wore a fake beard, you guys. She was the fucking boss.
If we remember her now does that save her from an awful afterlife?
Iâm just picturing the Kemetic afterlife. All the Pharaohs are hanging out in some kind of swanky club, drinking and congratulating each other on being bros.Â
The doors slam open and Hatshepsut strides in, glorious, robes swirling, rocking the fake beard and the insane amounts of wealth and power. âMiss me, bitches?âÂ
Seriously, she wore male clothes. Not just the beard, but the clothes. The guys didnât wear shirts! She was so adamant about being king that she walked around shirtless. And women didnât have bras then! She walked around just like a man, boobs showing and all! She was a kingand proudly so! Yet everything that I find about her calls her a queen.
Iâm just thinking that if she was near you, and you said âQueen Hatshepsutâ, sheâd slap the snot out of you. No, she wouldnât even slap. Sheâd punch.
*taps mic nervously*
Um, pardon me. Letâs not forget the real storyâŠ
King Hatshepsut was not erased from history because she was a woman. There is no âpatriarchal BSâ going on. She was erased from history because Thutmose III was bitter that she had taken up so many years of what âshould have beenâ his prime rule. She also re-opened trade with outside nations, which scared many Egyptians, who had a long policy of isolationism based on religious values. Also, she traced her lineage to the Egyptian mother goddess, who was goddess of ALL the gods and goddesses, which Thutmose III found threatening (he wasnât her son, he was son of the and heretical.
The people loved her, however, so he couldnât just erase her from the afterlife without a cause. So, he used the only thing he couldâ her affair with her lover. See, Egyptians believed in loyalty by the woman to her dead husband, so any affair after his death was worthy of death. So he used that as an excuse to âpunishâ her, by which he really meant destroy her chances of coming back in the afterlife. So he erased her from all writing (because your name was your ticket to the after life), and kicked her out of her tomb into an unmarked one.
But then how do we know her name?
That, my friends, is the greatest love story of ancient Egypt.
Her lover found out about Thutmose IIIâs scheme to destroy her, so he detectiveâd her final resting place from servants and workers who had helped. Then he snuck in, a feat that, in their religion, meant he would be damned for eternity because he disturbed someoneâs final rest. He broke into her tomb, and under a bench where nobody who came in after him could see, he chiseled her name so that she may go on to the afterlife.
and then, he died. because he wanted to go with her, so they could finally be together, without people judging. Now you know the whole story.
An awesome lady, bereft of her lord husband, filled his shoes, uplifted the realm, and changed her world.
She fell in love with someone else, but the love was forbidden.
After her death and burial, her successor tried to erase her from time, space, and memory.
Her lover found out the plot, wheedled the location her body was disrespectfully removed to, broke into her tomb, forfeiting his own salvation, desecrated a wall in her burial chamber to write her name and ensure her salvation, and died in the dark recesses of the earth, pining and waiting to rejoin her whom he loved.
Hatshepsut - A Love Passing Death
WHY ISNâT THIS A MOVIE?!?! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!
Just in case anyone forgot about the amazingness that is my leading lady, King HatshepsutâŠ
THIS IS MY FAVORITE POST ON TUMBLR IâVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH HATSHEPSUT SINCE HIGH SCHOOL!!!
This looks like a great Pyrenees, a breed of livestock guardian dog, so heâs literally doing what he was bred for by protecting a baby ruminant.
Finally seeing a dog experience the âI canât get up because my pet is laying in my lapâ problem.
What if air nomads are pacifists bc they used to do shit like suffocating people and then saw the destruction they caused so turned away from it đ€đ€
secret lore đ? what if the reason why air nomads distance themselves from the rest of the world is because they donât want to be tempted back into that cycle of violence
ya when i first saw someone mention the implication that he took all the air in the room, killing all the firebenders AND himself, i had to lay down for awhileÂ
WAIT WHAT
The difference between my summer skin tone and my winter skin tone makes me hesitant to believe any skin bleaching rumors about celebrities tbh
You look better light skinned tbh
Ya know at first I was just gonna reply with a clever retort along the lines of âyou would sound a lot smarter with your mouth closedâ, and call it a day. But tbh Iâm not mad at you for saying that, I pity you. Youâre just another black woman thats been brainwashed by the media into having that âlightskin is the rightskinâ mentality. Hopefully one day youâll open your eyes and realize that beauty isnât just Beyonce and Rihanna but also Naomi Campbell, Gabrielle Union and Lupita Nyongâo.đđ
