After seeing that aromantic had the lowest percentage on that tumblr orientation poll I've decided to conduct my own poll for arospec identities (with an option for non aro folks)! Please reblog to spread this around the community!!
Let’s end ASAW with a new survey I have been working on. I’ve decided to have a survey on one aspect of aromantic identity that I haven’t seen discussed, which is preferences towards sexual relationships.
Who this survey is aimed at: any aromantic above the age of 18 can participate, but I am particularly interested in aros who experience sexual attraction or sexual desires, aros who have previous experiences with sexual relationships, and aros who are curious about sex in general. This includes sex favorable aroaces, but also aro who tried sex and decided it was not for them, or sex repulsed aroallos. You can participate if you have no sexual experience.
What this will ask you: general demographic questions, whether you have previous sexual experiences (prefer not to say is an allowed option), what relationship dynamics do you or would you prefer to have with a sexual partner (committed or not, qprs, fwb, etc.), and a few personal opinions on how aromanticism relates to sexuality.
What this will NOT ask you: any details about preferred sexual positions, acts or kinks, any details about your sexual fantasies, any information about your sexual partners, or any identifying personal information.
The survey does not accept participants under the age of 18. I ask anyone below that age (or below the age of adulthood in your country) not to participate, although you may of course share the link to the survey with others if you want.

Let’s talk about the fabulous aromantics out there
Do you have any tips on how to be more supportive/inclusive of loveless aros?
Drop completely the concept that love is something that makes us human, that it’s something we need, that it’s something everyone wants.
Be very careful of thinking aros need to be more loving or love their friends more or anything like that to “make up for their aro-ness”. A. there’s nothing to make up for because aros aren’t lacking in anything, but also B. that just isn’t every aro person’s experience. Some aros do invest a lot in their friends, but not all. And they don’t have to. Not all aros are close to other people. These aros need to be remembered too.
Be aware that aro or not, some people have a hard time connecting to other people or even feeling love at all. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s especially common for neurodivergent people to sometimes have trouble connecting to other people or feeling emotions the way neurotypical people do. Sometimes people who are dealing with trauma also have trouble connecting with, or don’t feel like they love, other people.
On that note, be wary of the concept that there’s any kind of morality to how someone feels love. Morality comes from how we treat people and how we act, internal feelings we have no control over isn’t someone’s morality.
I haven’t seen this in a long time but it used to be common for ace stuff, especially outreach stuff to say ‘but we can still love’ to appeal to heteronormative sensibilities. This hurt all aros, but especially loveless aros. Definitely do not do that and push back against it when you see it.
So I’m not a loveless aro myself, and it’s possible there are more things that could be done to be inclusive that I either haven’t thought of or am not doing. I definitely encourage you to look up what loveless aros say on the subject as well and see if there’s other things you can adopt.

Supporting aroallos requires you to be sex positive
That means you can’t read “casual sex” and think “fucks around without caring about anyone”
That means you can’t treat “no strings attached” like it’s synonymous with “heartless fuckboys using women for sex”
That means you can’t look at someone who wants casual sex and is open about it and claim they must have a “fear of commitment”
That means you can’t blame someone’s depression on their “missed connnections,” aka their one night stands that didn’t blossom into romantic endeavors
That means you’re gonna let others make their own choices about their sex life without judgement or shame or any implication that they’re in any way lacking morals for wanting to have sex with people they’re not in any sort of long term relationship with
I might as well reblog this cause I’m seeing a few non-aroallos saying that showing an aroallo character having casual sex is bad representation. It’s not. Treating casual sex as an inherently bad thing is sex negative and leads to arophobia against aroallos.
Aroallos are not doing anything wrong if they decide to have casual sex.
Portraying an aroallo having casual sex is not a bad thing unless you paint the aroallo as dirty and predatory for it.
We’re people, and that means we’re gonna vary quite a bit. Showing variation is actually a good thing. Not to mention we’re trying to navigate sexual relationships in a society that was never designed for us and we’re all gonna find our own ways to make do, you really have no business dictating to us what we should do, especially not without our input
I think it's very cool and sexy of me to be loudly aromantic. I think I deserve to be really vocally proud of such an important part of myself, and I think all other aro people deserve to be loudly aromantic too
can we... stop trying to use other forms of attraction to justify the absence of another
this includes but is not limited to non-aro asexuals saying “but we can still love like everyone else!!”, non-loveless aromantics saying “but we can still love our friends and family like everyone else!!” cause. what exactly do you mean by “everyone else”? aromantics and loveless aros exist.
the validity of someone’s orientation or attraction shouldn’t be based off of another form of attraction that they may or may not feel... just putting that out there. of course if we are informing someone about asexuality and aromanticism, we should mention that some aces feel romantic attraction and some aros feel platonic attraction, but we should leave it at that, yknow?
romantic and sexual and platonic attraction are normal, but none make us normal; we all are. and not feeling one or more of those doesn’t make us any less normal. and yeah aros and aces need to have their orientations normalized but let’s not do that by using a different form of attraction because that’s just downright implying that those who don’t feel that form of attraction somehow aren’t normal.
an alloace saying that they’re normal solely because of the fact that they “still” experience romantic attraction is directly implying that romantic attraction normalizes you, which is excluding to aros, so... you get my point? that counts as amatonormativity. i get that they’re just trying to normalize their identity but if they’re talking about how not feeling sexual attraction is normal, they shouldn’t have to bring romantic attraction into it as some form of justification. they are valid as is.
by all means do mention that aces and aros can feel other forms of attraction, but don’t use those other forms of attraction to justify the absence of romantic/sexual attraction
if you don’t feel either romantic or sexual attraction, that’s okay. you are still valid and whether or not you are is not determined by another type of attraction that you DO feel.
