man, vox's repartee with lucifer was, in my opinion, the most devastatingly cruel we've seen him be so far.
"your wife knew it was wrong, lu" friendly nickname lucifer explicitly only allows his family to use + dismissing lucifer's royal status + invoking his broken marriage
"maybe that's why she's not around anymore" blaming lucifer & his character flaws directly for lilith's absence
"smite me! silence me! that's all you angels know how to do" throwing it in lucifer's face that he's an outsider in hell & doesn't belong here, aligning him with the same institutions that discarded him for not fitting in there either
"you won't do it, you're weak" highlighting the specific constraints of his punishment + vox's own untouchability in this moment
"they didn't banish you, they clipped your wings and chained you down here" emphasizing further that lucifer isn't a threat even worth banishment, only being chained up out in the yard like a nuisance pet
"well, i got no chains on me" sinners are free to act in ways that lucifer isn't despite the enormous gulf in power between them + driving home lucifer's helplessness
and what makes it all worse is that vox isn't really even lying here, he's exaggerating the truth in pointed ways to break lucifer down publicly and he KNOWS there's nothing lucifer can say in his own defense, both because lucifer is desperately insecure about his familial relationships / has been wallowing in self-pity for the last however many years AND because there's nothing technically untrue in anything vox is saying. brutal
with my dad being a computer technician and showing me the *magic* of the internet at a very young age, growing up on the internet was inevitable. it is often why i felt like i didn’t belong in my own friend groups when i was a teen, because they grew up watching greek tv series and i grew up watching say, doctor who and supernatural before these shows even aired here. i found community online so easily when i should have been cultivating it irl instead.
i lost out on so much of my country’s culture (things that even to this day i am oblivious to) and it’s often a lighthearted laughing matter within my friend group –how much i don’t know about my own country, about actors, artists, memes, references, series, even greek online culture– but it also comes with a heavy sense of not belonging. bc i dont feel like i 100% belong here and i surely don’t 100% belong in any of the English-speaking countries whose culture i have consumed since i was little.

the truth is the most discourse poisoned weirdos among us are not even on tumblr at all, they're walking around the physical world acting like normal people until their sleeper activation topic comes up.
when I was in undergrad I had this professor who spontaneously decided in the middle of a class on, as far as I could tell, a completely unrelated topic to go on a bizarre tirade about how human pregnancies are actually 10 months long and saying it's 9 months is a patriarchal attempt to minimise women's suffering. she very confidently justified this by explaining that there are four weeks in a month, so 40 weeks is 10 months.
when someone pointed out that a month (except February) is actually four weeks and two to three days, and that 40 weeks (280 days) is a lot closer to 9 months (275 days) than it is to 10 months (305 days), she told him to stop mansplaining.
then a girl pointed out that the actual length of a typical human pregnancy isn't even 40 weeks, it's 38. I think we all collectively blacked out after that

Something else I see people keep forgetting: between humans and Eridians, we are the astronauts. And we are good at it.
Eridians' perception of the world relies on something that is completely absent in space — sound. They haven't been looking at the stars their entire existence the way we have. Their concept of aliens might only be as old as their discovery of astrophage. They made a bad ship, because it was their first one ever! Rocky himself says they rushed it, and that multiple (vital) things broke. Their mission was just as much of a Hail Mary pass as ours was — they had no idea what they were doing, if they could even travel in space safely. And, as it turns out, they couldn't.
Humans are the ones who have been doing it over multiple lifetimes. Mary is state of the art. We've been space farers longer than most humans have been alive. We can actually see through space. We are more likely to survive exposure to the void. We can encase our lighter, more flexible, more mobile bodies in a material that lets us walk outside of our ship, and, to a degree, we can get our bearings out there in a way Eridians just can't.
Eridians are not looking at Mary and thinking she's a bad ship. They are not thinking humans have no idea what we're doing. They are looking at this species that can walk in the stars, have been perfecting machines to take us to them for decades, have been dreaming about them and mapping them and naming them for millennia, and used all of that to save them, and thinking, wow.
