After a few minutes on FF.net, I was amazed at how difficult they make it actually find stories by pairings - how did you do it? It's kinda crazy how ridiculous it is compared to AO3's tagging system.

I'm hoping to make a FAQ soon to actually pin for people to see, but until then:

I had to make the decision with FF.net to go only based on the "pairing" tag implemented in 2013. This definitely does come with some issues, one of the biggest being the exclusion of pairing fics before 2013. However, I chose to do it this way simply for the fact that fics could otherwise include two characters and no distinction was made between whether it was a fic with A and B as a pairing, or A and B simply being in the same story.

In terms of the actual method I use to find the pairings, it's actually a bit more involved and difficult to explain, so I'll go for the simple one: I basically select character A, then go through and see how many stories they have with every other character (usually in alphabetical order). Once done, I move on to character B, and so on.

On a more personal note, I used FF.net way before ever joining AO3, so I was actually much more accustomed to their tagging system (although I do agree that AO3's is much better).
