Welcome traveler you have reached my blog. Here lie things I find interesting, and things I've written. This is a side blog, but don't let that stop you.
I'm not sure what you know about caring for birds, my sister had some so, if you have an old shoebox or something small like that and a bunch of old washcloths or towels to tuck around it that'd be good. Also a small dish of water. Just to keep it warm and hydrated.
I have been thinking about making a tumblr fic collection on ao3, just have one for my Zelda fics that I don't feel are quite long enough to put alone.
Should probably also make a timeline of my Zelda fics... but that is a different story.
I was thinking of the Song of Storms and was using my headcanon that the Links can manipulate the weather a little naturally. So I thought 'what if they have times they feel like it needs to be changed' and this was the result.
Storm - Ocarina of Time Link
Sage - A Link to the Past Link
Hope - The Legend of Zelda Link
A soft thrum of energy, something almost electric, pulsed under his skin. Storm sighed softly, his head tilting back towards the sky as the throbbing grew stronger.
"It feels too calm."
Storm glanced to his right at Sage. Sage was scowling at the open grass before them, behind them Hope was trying to convince a small fairy to come out of hiding.
Somewhere across that grass and under the trees the rest of their group were waiting for them to join them. Sage sighed and turned to talk to Hope, trying to convince him to stop bothering the fairy.
"I don't know why she won't come but the fairy says that the energy is wrong to leave her hiding place." Hope told Sage, words that Storm had heard.
So it was not just him, the fairies and other Heroes seemed to feel like something needed to shift too.
A wild grin spread across Storm's face while he thought. Normally he tried not to disturb the weather too much, but with the other heroes and the way they seemed to want things to change the same way he did.
Pulling out the blue ocarina that had been tucked neatly in his pouch Storm lifted it to his lips. Quick rising notes drifted through the air, once, twice, three times.
Above the sky grew dark, a low rumble and a loud crash followed. Brilliant lightning lit the sky in white and blue. Then the first drops fell, one then two and finally a deluge.
A dark curtain of rain fell, the air cooled and the fairy cautiously fluttered over to Storm's shoulder.
"That... feels better." Sage murmured quietly.
"Yeah." Hope agreed, shifting his pack to his shoulders.
"Let's go, we can join the others now."
The three of them stepped out into the rain. As the first drops hit his skin Storm relaxed, that wild electric energy eased away.
It was nice to be able to call up a storm when he felt it. Really that was one of the best parts of traveling with the other Links. They also felt that itch and need to change the weather like this.
No. 16: “I’ve had the rug pulled beneath my feet.” Repressed Trauma | Permanent Marker | Disorientation
Featuring: Time, Warriors, and Sky. Also mentioned Impa, Zelda caused Time Travel, and a certain monster.
Time sat curled up against a wall, his hand pressing hard against his ribs while carefully measuring his breathing. In front of him Warriors paced, gesturing sharply while saying something. Time knew he should listen, he did, but the way Warriors moved was all too familiar. Despite his best efforts his eyes kept drifting away, unfocusing and trying to shut.
A hand settled gently on his shoulder and Time jerked slightly, his heart racing as the touch and Warriors pacing dredged up an old memory. He could see Impa stalking around a small room ranting, her voice low and harsh as she complained about the nobles that had convinced him to fill that task for the Queen. The hand on his shoulder gave a gentle shake and Time blinked.
Warriors was watching him intently, his eyes sharp yet wary. Time managed to smile, he managed to straighten too despite the way the room spun slightly and his ears filled with a high pitched ringing sound. The hand on his shoulder belonged to Sky who was also watching him warily.
"I'm sorry, Captain, could you please repeat that?"
"I asked what you were thinking charging ahead like that. We had no idea what was in that room."
Oh but he did. Time recognized the painting on the wall, the red stains that indicated something being dragged into the room and he knew what was there. That would not be an answer Warriors or Sky would accept though so he tilted his head slightly, his hair falling in front of his face in a way he'd learned made him seem softer and more open.
"But Captain, I have my armor. I figured that with my armor it meant that I would be much safer than the rest of you." Also he had Din's Fire ready, the second the door had closed he'd cast it. The only problem had been that one of the enemies had been hiding safely where the fire could not reach it.
As he had expected Warriors' expression softened and Sky seemed to calm down. They shared a look then focused on him again.
"Well you aren't wrong, but it would have been nice if you had waited for one of us too."
Time hummed, the door had opened quickly enough that they had only known what he had done by seeing the door open. Well that and the fact that Time had found a wall and settled on the ground while everything settled around him again.
Time clenched his fist, subtly trying to use the action to help ground himself in the present and to settle with the other heroes again. It helped a little, the ringing in his ears faded a little. The ache radiating from Time's side grew stronger though.
"Look, you scared us. What if we couldn't follow you?"
"Link you scared me, what if I hadn't followed you?"
Time gave a soft laugh, the gentle tone seemed to help reassure the others that nothing was wrong. As Sky's hand stayed settled lightly on his shoulder and Warriors walked towards the door, Time finally felt like he stopped floating.
"What was that thing anyways?"
"Yeah, old man, you seemed very familiar with it."
"Hmm? Oh, just an enemy I came across in the past. Nothing to worry about."
"It bit you though?" Sky sounded confused now, clearly catching the way Time was keeping his hand against his side.
"It didn't." Time denied.
"Prove it."
With an exasperated sigh Time shifted his armor and clothes enough so Warriors and Sky could see the unblemished skin of his side. There was nothing there, not even a faint scar.
"Then why-"
"I told you, it was an enemy I came across in the past."
Warriors and Sky shared a look, clearly the two of them had a suspicion for why Time had reacted the way he was but they were allowing him to avoid it for now. Of course… Time already knew what it was. He already knew that this was just- well just a nightmare. There was nothing that was there, no scar and no signs of being hurt. It was not even because of a potion or a fairy like the others guessed.
It was because it never happened here. Zelda undid the event. So Time had never been bitten, Impa never followed him, and the monster he fought had no time to act before he killed it this time. So really there was no reason for any trauma or fear to exist.
"We should catch up with the others."
"Just waiting for you to get back to your feet, old man."
Hyrule warriors Link's first introduction of the hero of Time! I had so much fun with this drawing. it took me way longer than i initially thought it would take but i finally got it to a point at which i can call it done.
Since tumblr ate the quality, heres some screenshots cause i spent WAY too much time on this just for the quality to suck so hard
Toon is Wind Waker Link
Link is Hyrule Warriors Link
Impa is Hyrule Warriors Impa
Mask/Young Link is Majora's Mask Link
Link dropped to one knee next to Toon. Toon was panting and looking at Tetra and Impa who were just ahead on the path. Behind them Link heard the sound of enemies approaching and he dragged Toon's arm over his shoulder as he stood again.
"Really Cap'in, you should jus' leave me an' save-"
"Not happening. We just need to get through this forest and we'll be at the Great Fairy's Fountain."
"Link!"
Impa's voice cut through Link and Toon's conversation.
As though it was waiting for them to stop talking the ground under Link's feet seemed to explode. The bokoblins behind them seemed to cheer and laugh at their misfortune. Link's heart sunk.
This was it.
They had failed.
Zelda would have to try to defeat Ganon alone… and it was Link's fault. Link was the one who told Lana he'd come. He told her that he would try to find the Hero she sensed and try to talk whoever it was into joining them.
A tune drifted through the air. Something dark and almost lulling.
Bone clacking together resonated. One spot, another. Then hands, skeletal hands, clawed up through the dirt. One figure emerged.
Link felt his blood freeze, his heart sank lower.
Stalfos.
One. Two… more.
Several of the figures clawed their way from the ground. Soon the bokoblins were quieting.
That was Link's first sign that this was not what it seemed at first.
The bokoblins were quiet. Stalchildren and Stalfos all surrounded them, the rhythmic clicking of bones against bones filled the air. Toon and Tetra looked around slightly terrified but not as much as a moment ago.
The melody came again. An ocarina, Link recognized, but it was a different song. This one seemed to give the Stal-beings added strength. They charged towards the bokoblins. Link finally looked around.
There he was.
Link did not know who it was, only that it likely was the hero that they had been looking for.
On a hill, the ground under his feet cracking and glowing, stood a… a child or a teen - Link could not be certain only that it was not an adult - holding a sword in one hand and what seemed to be a glowing mask in the other. Link was about to ignore it but the green clothes and the bracelet with the Goron crest that Darunia also had told him that this… this hero was more than he seemed.
The thing that truly caught Link's eyes was the mask that the hero wore. At first glance it seemed like the top of a skull with glowing eye sockets, the red glow of the sockets matched the glowing cracks of the ground. Looking closer the mask was that in part but above it seemed to be the upper body of a skeleton with it's arms partly raised.
The Stal-beings closest to this hero saluted then marched off. They moved with intent to attack the bokoblins and the other enemies with them. The masked hero looked down at Link and Toon, then seemed to sigh before raising the other glowing mask to his face.
The world went white.
Link came to later, lying near the Great Fairy Fountain. She was looking at him with a knowing glint in her eyes.
"I see you found the young Link."
"I thought I asked you not to call me that."
Link blinked and looked. The hero that he had seen on that hill was looking at him. No masks aside from the Keaton mask at his belt.
"Yes well, if you were brought here then it is likely to help them."
"I alre-"
"Yes, yes. Now why don't you check on the others. I am sure that they will want to be on their way now that Link is awake."
The younger hero sighed and moved closer to Link. He tilted Link's head up and shifted his head as though he could tell what sort of state Link was in.
"Right well as you heard, my name is also Link. Which apparently makes three of us…"
"Mask."
"Huh?"
"You had a mask."
The boy, Link could see now that the young hero was maybe thirteen, seemed both annoyed and amused.
"Yeah, I have a few. How hard did you hit your head again?"
"I… what?"
Mask, Link privately named the boy that in his mind, gave him a look that was full of exasperation and concern. Link decided to ask anyway, if he messed up now he could always blame it on just waking up.
"Will you help us?"
"Yeah, sure. You seem like you need all the help you can get."
"Yes!" Toon cheered, he was walking into the chamber and grinned widely. "Three Links together. We'll be unstoppable!"
Link caught the smile on Impa's face and decided that however he got here it wasn't all bad. After all he did convince the new hero to help, and the new hero seemed better at this than he was. Link decided then and there that he was never telling anyone else how Mask had saved him. Unfortunately he did not think to bribe Toon and soon everyone else knew that Link fainted and had to be carried to the Great Fairy Fountain by Mask.
Knowing that the Kokiri would be considered Forest Dwellers does that mean that if there was a Forest Dweller outfit it would look like the outfit the Kokiri favor? Some sort of sandals or boots that are soft and leather no strong soles of the boots because traction matters more than protection from rocks. A green variegated tunic to blend in with the leaves and foliage, maybe pants or capris that are brown but also variegated to allow for blending in with the trunks of trees or dirt of the ground.
Just some random thoughts going by what the Forest Dweller weapons and shield look like. Other thoughts are welcome.
Something kind of sad. Based off the idea that the wish at the end of ALttP is what made Link's victory in OoT possible, making the Downfall Timeline the True Timeline while the Adult and Child Timelines are created by the Triforce and power of the Goddess.
"What is the weirdest but coolest thing you've ever come across on your adventure?"
"Hmmmm, a Yeti couple living in an abandoned mansion." Twilight answered first, seeing the way Wind was looking at him.
"What? No way." Legend replied shaking his head.
"It's true! Yeto makes the most amazing pumpkin soup." Twilight smiled happily. Sky perked up at the mention of pumpkin soup.
"Next time we're in your Era I want to try it." Sky told Twilight who grinned and nodded happily. Their shared love of pumpkin soup earned a few soft laughs from the others.
"What about you Sky?"
"Oh, um... Oh! I know, did you know that the Triforce grants wishes if you assemble all the pieces?"
"Of course we know that!"
"Yeah, come on Sky. Several of us have wished upon it."
"Wait, do you mean you've wished on it?"
Sky laughed a little while rubbing the back of his neck. "Well, yes. I wished that the Goddess Statue would return to the Surface to fully seal Demise."
"Huh, I never got a wish." Wind said crossing his arms and closing his eyes. He opened one and gave them a grin. "The old King wished for the old Hyrule to be washed away."
"What a waste." Legend complained shaking his head.
"Like you had a better wish!"
"I did!" Legend cleared his throat and looked away for a moment. Then he looked back at them. "I wished that everyone who was killed by Ganon got a second chance."
The words were simple.
So very simple, but Time felt like he had suddenly been dumped into icy water and left to freeze. "Everyone?"
"Huh? Of course. My uncle and the King both came back because of it."
The soft happy smile on Legend's face contrasted sharply with the utter ice filling Time's veins now. He'd wondered once... why he'd gotten a surge of energy, why he'd been healed, just before his fight with Ganon. Here it was. It had never been him, Time had never had any influence over what happened. Not really. It had been Legend and his wish.
A hysterical laugh wanted to bubble up. Time forced it down, he could not alarm the others. Time could not share the truth of his realization with any of them.
"I think I would wish for peace between the Light world and the Twilight realm." Twilight said wistfully. His voice made it clear he was thinking about someone specific.
"Yeah well.... I was a kid and thought undoing what he did would fix everything. Guess not, huh?"
"It was a good wish, Legend. You gave some people a chance to be better." Sky pointed out.
Those words seemed to cheer Legend up. "That's right! It did. I had a chance to live with my uncle for a while longer, and Fable got to help her father rule better for a few more years."
"Hey, old man, you seem rather quiet." Warriors' voice drew attention to Time.
Time forced his shoulders to relax and his mouth curved into a wry smile. "Just thinking about what my wish would be."
"Ah, heavy thoughts." Warriors nodded with a grin. "Well if it ever happens for you I'm sure you'll figure out a good wish."
"Yeah..." Time nodded, his smile fading a little while he stared into the flames. Legend's wish to undo what Ganon had done... it let them all have this chance. Time wanted to laugh and cry and scream. Instead he sat and watched and listened while praying that Legend never regretted his wish.
The First Link (from Hyrule Historia) can manipulate weather a little, he can encourage rain or snow and maybe if it is falling manipulate it directly a little bit. All other Links have that too but few unlock the ability and they all think it is tied to something else. The Hero of the Sky's ability to redirect lightning is from this ability but he attributes it to the Master Sword not to his own ability.
I just had the adorable idea of Twilight as Wolfie finding a blupee, and the blupee running to Time and cuddling with him. Then somehow more blupees show up and soon Time has a bunch of blupees cuddling up to him while Wild watches amazed because they always run from him.
Then next jump they go to Skyloft and almost the same thing happens but with Remlits. Then night falls and Sky is expecting them to attack Time but they stay sweet and friendly.
Why? Because Time is a child of the Forest. They can sense his connection to it and to the natural world.
Bonus points if Sun sees Time with Mia, the Headmaster's Remlit, and laughs at Sky because she has patched him up after he tried to pick up Mia at night.
Inspired by Ganondorf's speech in Wind Waker, and Ganondorf in Ocarina of Time.
The wind was harsh, carrying sand and memory.
Flickers of screams and red spilling across the dunes.
Ganondorf stared out from the topmost place of the Fortress. It was a place he stood often, a place where he could look upon his people and see that they were safely within these walls.
Just as he prepared to leave his perch, to go down to join the others for a meal or even to retreat to his chambers, the wind shifted. It became softer, carrying the faintest hint of water and greenery.
Without thought he turned towards it. Hyrule. The place this gentler wind came from. The place where they had been forced from left to struggle within this harsh land and the heat by day or the chill by night.
What he would not give to have that for his own. That softness, the gentle winds to ease the crucible that forged warriors so fierce that no Hylian had truly been an equal to.
Hands clenched into fists as he turned away from it. He had been summoned, called like a dog, and expected to obey the call. To yield to the soft people, to offer the little that his people had managed to claim from the vast deserts all to appease a King that had already condemned them to a slow suffocating death.
If Ganondorf could have his way he would rip that Kingdom from them. He would take it and crush it.
The wind shifted again. Sand and heat.
A storm was coming. The air promised it, and Ganondorf would ensure that more than just the Gerudo would reap the storm this time.
So it is not in fact possible to get into the Face Shrine before the Angler's Tunnel. You kind of need to have the flippers before you get into the Face Shrine.
