[Image ID: a hand drawn comic series. The two characters are a woman with dark hair in a ponytail and a woman with light straight hair to her shoulders. I will refer to the dark haired woman as (advice) Giver and the light haired woman as (advice) Seeker.]
Panel 1â
Giver sits at a wooden stand that is stereotypically shown as a childrenâs lemonade stand. The sign reads âLife Advice In Exchange For Potatoes.â Taped to the bottom are two notes âMust not contain poison or broccoliâ and âbaked potatoes-better advice. Giver is reading a book and whistling casually.
Panel 2â
Seeker stands with her fists balled to talk herself up. She says âOk, here goes.â
Panel 3â
Seeker approaches Giver hesitantly. She stands on the left, on the other side of the lemonade standâs counter. Giver continues to look at book and gestures to be handed something.
Seeker: Um, yeah, I have this problem thatâ
Giver: POTATOES FIRST.
Panel 4â
Seeker hands over tupperware. Giver opens tupperware and inspects contents.
Panel 5â
Giver shoots finger gun at Seeker. Seeker starts to talk but looks distressed and/or disgusted.
Giver: Fried with onions nice! Iâm all ears.
Seeker: I know I should love my body, but⊠um⊠could you NOT EAT while Iâm telling you all this?
Panel 6â
Giver has fork and is actively chewing potatoes.
Giver: The answerâs no. Go on.
Panel 7â
Seeker shrugs while explaining.
Seeker: I know there are a lot of body-positive messages around, but there are still some aspects of my appearance that I donât like. And I feel like a loser for not loving my body that much.
Panel 8â
Giver gestures casually and smiles. She is still holding the fork with potatoes. Seeker looks disgruntled, very âugh.â
Giver: Oh, thatâs simple. Donât love your body then!
Seeker: Are you saying I should love MY MIND instead?âŠ
Panel 9â
Giver now looks serious and annoyed. Seeker looks annoyed and confused while holding her head with one hand.
Giver: No! Look, do you love your consciousness?
Seeker: UmâŠ
Panel 10â
Giver holds their arms high in celebration motion, very excited.
Giver: You donât! Thatâs because you perceive your consciousness as YOU. You donât get detached from it enough to form FEELINGS towards it.
Panel 11â
Giver now stands on the left, next to Seeker. One arm is around Seekerâs shoulder, while the other points to Seekerâs face. Seeker is looking towards the ground processing Giverâs advice.
Giver: Same with your body and mind. Thatâs YOU. Of course, LOVING your body is better than HATING it, but why do you have to have a RELATIONSHIP with the physical aspect of you?
Panel 12â
Seeker looks upward, thinking.
Giver (offscreen): You can, however, change some things about yourself.Â
Seekerâs thought bubbles, but also maybe Giverâs examples?: Draw better. Draw on yourself? Work out. Become better at math. Dye hair. Learn languages.
Panel 13â
Giver has one arm across her chest as she continues explaining.
Giver: Though not indefinitely. For example, you canât become a snake.
Giverâs thought bubble: One day, maybeâŠ
Panel 14â
Giver, on left, has one hand on her hip as she looks at Seeker sternly. Seeker, on right, has her hand moving towards her chin in the âthinkingâ pose.
Giver: However, it takes time and energy. So you might want to think about whatâs important to you.
Seeker: huh. In fact, I always thought learning calculus would be cool.
Panel 15â
The lemonade stand is back in view. Giver begins to sit down behind it again, looking away from Seeker, no longer interested. Seeker stands at the customer side of the stand, excited.
Giver: Ok, consultationâs over. Some of us have potatoes to eat.
Seeker: Hey, thanks!
Giver: Yeah, yeah.
Panel 16â
Giver is at the front and center of the panel, sitting at the stand, holding her book just under the viewerâs line of sight. The dish of potatoes is in front of her. Seeker is in the background over Giverâs shoulder, shouting back.
Seeker: Bye!
Giver: yeah, bye.
Panel 17â
Giver now holds the book up, reading again. Seeker walks away in the background.
The Book cover says: How to Become a Snake. 6 eassssy ssstepss.
