🍁Change is inevitable. Each year the trees shed their leaves changing a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. Each year their patterns unique and new. 🍂They lose their leaves and sleep, being naked and vulnerable in the snow and rain. As the weather warms, they feel safer to expose their new growth. Then reaching to the sun in the summer, boldly flaunting their foilage to all around. Sharing their shade and fruit, hoping to help others feel more comfortable. Then we experience change- new job, new house, new friends, new hobby, new skill or maybe a new life experience good or bad. Try mimicking or mirroring your pet's noises and actions to bond and help your pet feel related to. Animals will know you are trying to be friends and relate. Seahorse may be small, but it is mighty! It reminds you that you don't need to wait for someone to save you- you have the power within you go save yourself! Seahorse is an interesting totem. The roles are reversed in seahorses. Females are the protectors/ germinators and males are the nurturers/ birthers. When we deal with Seahorse, we need to switch traditional gender stereotypes and recognize that it may be time to take on a new role. If you are female, try to be more assertive and lead. But if you are male, try to be more tender, gentle and nurturing to others and yourself. Seahorse goes with the flow, grabbing onto seaweed in the current and swaying with the flow. There are so many influencers, coaches, and "spiritual gurus" that encourage us to kill our ego. That the ego is this negative product of selfishness and in order to be enlightened, we must become a martyr, murder our ego and give everything we have for the greater good. These mentors mean well. But the ego serves as one of our best motivators. Our ego challenges us to "be better" than the other guy. To win the medal or to beat our last record. To get back up after being knocked down time and time again. When someone suffers from low self esteem or a shattered sense of identity, you might notice they lose the drive to overcome their adversity. They feel unworthy or incapable. They might even question whether their problems are valid or if there is something wrong with them. Our ego gives us the boost of confidence to better ourselves. It screams "I'll show you!" A healthy ego will drive someone to overcome adversity despite others' doubt in their capabilities or even trying to sabotage their success. There is a difference between ego and being conceited. You can have confidence in yourself and your ability to out perform others without rubbing their faces in your superiority. Like with all things, moderation is key.
