so more on the kittypet 3 au or whatever i called it before:
so after the dog attack, holly lion and jay TRY to find their way back home but just get even MORE lost.
eventually they wander close enough to clan territory that starclan is able to reach them through their dreams and tell them the general area they should head off to.
it takes them around a moon.5 to find thunderclan, and... it isn't really what they expect. growing up leafpool told them stories of the clans, but it isn't the same as living it.
the three are found by a patrol that includes squirrelflight, who recognizes leafpools scent on them (and lion takes after her a lot, visually, so there's that little chestnut too).
by now the three are approximately apprentice aged, maybe a bit older? but not the age of the average warrior.
squirrelflight convinces firestar to take them in, but it doesn't take much convincing. after all, once he discovers they're his grandkits he doesn't feel right just sending them away.
(and, he remembers the prophecy given to him moons prior. there are three of them after all, aren't there?)
they each become warrior apprentices. lion seems somewhat interested in the medicine den, (it reminds him of his mom), but cinderpelt has another apprentice (honeyfern) so nothing can be done.
brightheart is hollypaw's mentor (because in canon she never got another one after he switched and i thought that was shitty), ashfur is lionpaw's (like in canon), and sorreltail is jaypaw's mentor (i just, i like sorreltail. okay.)
right as their training begins to come to an end and they're about to receive their names, honeyfern dies (her canon death stays the same more or less).
lion IMMEDIATELY (okay not immediately but. soon after her death vigil) gathers his siblings out of camp and tells them he's thinking about asking to become cinderpelts apprentice. they support him, he asks cinderpelt and firestar, and it is done.
approximately a quartermoon later, hollypaw and jaypaw earn their warrior names, hollyshine and jaysong. (these names aren't symbolic or anything. i just think they sound nice, and lions suffix changes too)
that night is also the half moon, which means that lionpaw travels to the moon pool for the first time and meets with starclan, who are PISSED, because they are fickle and wanted jaysong to carry out their shitty prophecies.
(jaysong knows this. they haven't shut up about it in his dreams since he was an apprentice, but he's not interested in that life and wouldn't want to deny lionpaw anyways because he's a good brother)
after several nights of bickering starclan gives up and accepts lionpaw as cinderpelts apprentice. they aren't happy with it but they can't exactly force either lionpaw OR jaysong to trade places, so it's fine. we're fine. [yellowfang is visibly shaking with rage in the background]
their powers stay the same! jaysong still does dream walking shit. lionpaw (lionpool after his naming ceremony. after his mom :)) is still an unkillable beast. hollyshine is still. well, she's still hollyshine. i love her. her design when i draw it will be based off of my cat.
will make another post on this later, if there's interest, and likely if there isn't because i just like it.
