I have a request for Bruce Wayne.

If you can, and want to do it, if not, I still appreciate it very much :)

Reader started working at Wayne Enterprises a while ago and is now Lucius Fox's right-hand. Bruce is completely captivated by her and tries to ask her out, but she always subtly rejects him (she is aware of Bruce's reputation as a playboy lol). In the end, he convinces her by telling her that it is only in terms of friendship. They go out several times, until they obviously cross the boundaries of friendship (at this point, they are both deeply in love with each other), but Bruce, not wanting to put her at risk for fear that she will be linked to Batman, decides to break her heart. Something like, after being intimate for the first time, he completely ghosts her, which obviously hurts her. Until, over time, she discovers that he is Batman, confronts him, and he ends up telling her everything about why he did what he did.

I wanted some deep angst but with a happy ending. 😅

Taming of the playboy

You had been working at Wayne enterprise for about six months now and you’re starting to feel comfortable calling yourself a model employee. Your job is being Lucius Fox right hand, and you would say you were getting pretty good at it. You always made sure everything ran on time, you helped Lucius out with his designs, and just made sure everything at Wayne enterprise went okay. Life was going great you had an amazing job with a boss you adored . There was only one problem - Bruce Wayne.

The pompous ass of CEO couldn’t seem to leave you alone. You met him during your first day of work. You had heard the rumors about him, that he was an idiotic playboy who had no business running a company. Still you decided to ignore the rumors and form your own opinion on the man. To your pleasant surprise the man was nothing at all like the rumors described him. He was intelligent, caring and all around competent boss. You really got on with him and were honestly shocked about where his reputation had come from. However at the end of the day Bruce pulled you aside and asked if you wanted to go on a date with him. You couldn’t believe it, after a whole day of Bruce being wonderful and disproving all of the rumors it turns out Bruce was the exact playboy everyone always said he was. You turned him down not wanting to be made a fool.

This dynamic between the two of you had continued for months. Bruce would be friendly and cordial and you would almost forget why you were mad at him till the end of the conversation when he asks to go on a date with you. You always subtly turned him down, but each subsequent time he asks you have a little more trouble restraining yourself from strangling him.

The worst part isn’t that your not interested, quite the opposite, the worst part is that you want desperately to say yes. Bruce is charming, kind, intelligent and also stupid hot. If you thought he was genuinely interested you would say yes in a heartbeat. Unfortunately you weren’t born yesterday and you were well aware of Bruce’s playboy lifestyle. You knew for a fact that once you said yes, Bruce would grow tired of you, find you boring and throw to to the curb after a few dates, at best.

Still despite your many refusals Bruce still kept asking you out. You were almost to the point of losing it at Bruce when he asked you out yet again. “ I respect that you don’t want to go out on a date romantically, and I completely understand. But also I quite enjoy your presence and would like to do something with you after work. Just as friends I promise.”

You heisted for a second before deciding to say fuck it and take him up on his offer. If nothing else you would get to hang out with Bruce outside the clock without the risk of your heart being broken. Besides you figured he would quickly get bored of you, even platonically.

To your utter shock and hidden delight he did not grow board of you. Your first outing when great. Bruce took you to the fanciest restaurant you had ever seen, before halfway through you asked to leave and took him to your favorite hole in the wall restaurant. At the end of the night Bruce said “ Do you want to go on another date again, platonically of course?” with that annoigly charming smile of his and what choice did you have but to say yes.

One date lead to another and pretty soon the two of you were together in all but name. You were happier than you had been in years. Despite all of your past reservations about a relationship with Bruce, you were glad to see that you had been proven wrong. You were even okay with things taking a more romantic direction. Lucius for his part was both happy for you and warned you to be cautious.

“ I’m not saying don’t keep hanging with Mr. Wayne in your free time. I’m just saying that there are things you don’t know about him, and I’m worried you might get hurt. You’re my best employee, I can’t have you in anything but tip top shape.”

You heart warmed at Lucius compliment but you still insisted on standing your ground.

“Mr Fox, with all due respect I’m capable of handling myself. You know I turned down Mr. Wayne’s advances for quite some time due to fear that he would grow bored of me. I know what kind of man he can be. So while I appreciate the care, I promise you I’m going to be okay.”

Lucius just shook his head and gave you a small smile before saying “ I just hope your right.”

Later that night you met up with Bruce for your date. “ So how was your day ?” Bruce asked you.

“ Okay. Some shipments for Wayne enterprise came in late so I had to -“

“ Can I kiss you?” Bruce asked out of no where.

“ What?” You said blankly.

“ I’m so sorry it’s just that you looked so incredible and I’ve been holding it in for so long I couldn’t help but ask. I know we agreed to keep it platonic but-“

“ Yes. Yes I would love if you would kiss me.” You felt a wait lift off your chest that you hadn’t even realized was there. Despite what you had been telling your self you had wanted nothing more then for Bruce to love you as much you loved him.

Bruce quickly leaned in for a kiss, passionately devouring your mouth. You had never felt so alive in your life. Bruce pulled pack to give you a smile

“ You’re an incredible kisser.”

“ Coming from someone who’s kissed so many people I feel as though I should be honored.” You said

Bruce just smiled “ Yes well, hopefully you’ll be the only person I’ll be kissing for the time being. I lo-“.

Before he could finish his sentence Bruce was cut off by an explosion in the background.

“Get to safety now.” “ What about you?” you asked shocked to see that Bruce seemed to be running towards the danger

“ I’ll be fine but you need to protect yourself.” Bruce said in stone that left no room for argument.

You quickly ran to panic room, spending hours pacing and worried sick about Bruce. Finally Bruce showed up.

“ Bruce what happened are you okay?”

“ There was a skirmish between Batman and the Joker. It doesn’t matter. What does matter is this - we’re through. The little hang outs we had were cute but they were a distraction I’ve grown tired of you. Please don’t start crying, it will ruin whatever little appeal you have left.”

You were shocked by Bruce’s words. This was such a turn around from the man you had thought you had known. You also felt like such a fool that you ever thought you could trust him, you knew you should’ve followed your gut instinct.

“ Well that suits me just fine. I never want to see you again you piece of shit.” You said leaving in a huff. You tried to not look back as you fled the room, but out of the corner of your eye saw what almost looked like a look of pain and regret on Bruce’s face. You must have been imaging it.

Life went on after that. You threw yourself even harder into your work at Wayne enterprise, thankful that at least Bruce was giving you the common curtesy of avoiding you. Lucius didn’t even say I told you so to you. He just gave you a comforting look. One time a few weeks after the incident with Bruce you somehow found the courage to manage to ask Lucius how Bruce was doing.

“ Mister Wayne is doing just fine.”

“ Yes, well I suppose dating supermodels will help keep one’s spirt up.” You mumbled under your breath

Despite the fact that you tried to keep your mumbling quiet, Lucius still heard.

“ Things are more complicated then you know. I know Bruce seems heartless, and I know I encouraged you not to be with him. But things are more complicated then they seem. And, Well all I want to say is that Bruce, he well he sometimes gets to into his own head.”

“ Mister Fox, with all due respect I’m not a child you don’t need to sugarcoat things. I thought the playboy loved me, I’m such a fool.”

You started looking around to embraced to even look your boss in the face. However as you moved your eyes around you noticed something in Lucious hands. It looked… almost like a bat in metal form .

“ Lucius, why do you have that.”

“ Well I …”.

Lucius was starting to say an excuse to you but you didn’t hear him. Gears were starting to turn in your head. The only reason Lucius would have that is if he worked with Batman. If he worked with Batman, then he must have been using Wayne enterprise to do so. How did he hide all of this from Bruce? Unless Bruce knows, but in that case why did Bruce go along with it …

“ Because Bruce Wayne is Batman!”

You couldn’t help yourself from screaming it out loud. That’s why Bruce left, because he was being a self sacrificing idiot. You had to go find him.

Just as you were about to leave to find the man you saw Lucius, and you remembered that you had just blurted out loud what was probably his greatest secret. However before you could say anything to him he just smiled to you and said

“ Go find him. He needs someone to keep his head on straight.”

You gave Lucious a smile back, and as you left to find Bruce you couldn’t help but wonder whether him taking out that Batarnag was so accidental after all on his part. Irregaurdless you were on a mission and you had to find Bruce.

You raced down the halls of the building running all the way up to Bruce’s office. You had perfect timing as Bruce was just about to leave when you ran into him.

When Bruce saw you in his office he felt his heart break all over again. He had been devastated about breaking up with you, but he felt like he had no choice. He couldn’t live with himself if you got hurt because of his alter ego. So no matter how much it pained him to hurt you he was ready to push you away again, for your own safety. But before Bruce could even get a word in you interrupted him.

“ I know about your alter ego Bruce. I know you broke up with me to try to protect me. But you need to know that know that I can take care of myself. I … I love you and I want to be with you, super heroics or not.” You stated as confidently as you could manage. You honestly had no idea how Bruce was going to respond. You just wanted to get your feelings for him out in the open. “ Can I kiss you?” Bruce asked right after your rant.

“ What.” You stated back blankly. Of all the prepared this wasn’t what you were excepting, if for no other reason then how badly things went last time this exchange happened.

“ Can I kiss you? You mean, well you mean everything to me. I love you to. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have asked thi-“

Whatever Bruce was about to say next was cut off by your lips crashing into his. Bruce quickly matched your passion. After a few minutes the two of you reluctantly pulled apart. Bruce then pulled you in for a hug while mumbling apologies about what a fool he had been. You didn’t know what would happen next, but you knew that things would be okay . Well, except for the massive amount of paperwork you would have to fill out when it came out that you and Bruce were together.

Video ID: Night descends upon Wayne Manor, scarred red as ash falls from the sky. Soft organ music plays from inside, and a speck of ash lands on Lucious’ index finger from on a balcony where he stood. He looks from the sky to the speck of ash, and rubs it between his finger and thumb with a frown.

Dropping his hand and the ash with it, he looks out over Gotham — smoke billowing out from buildings with stark colors of black; red; and orange. It was almost like a painting; or a sunset one would never want to see.

Alfred walks out onto the balcony with two teacups in his hands, shaking Lucious from his thoughts as he looked toward the man joining him.

“Strangely beautiful, isn’t it?” Lucious comments.

Alfred sets down the tea on the thick, wooden railing in front of them. “I found a phonograph record that seems fitting,” he says in reply.

“Good choice.” Lucious picked up one of the teacups. “Wagner would’ve been too—”

Alfred, having reached inside the pocket of his suit-jacket, interrupts him: “And I found this.”

He reveals a photograph of he and Lucious from when they were younger, the two of them smiling happily behind a kid Bruce Wayne. All three of them look up toward the skies, watching as planes flew past with neat tricks and skilled synchronization. How unlike a night like this.

“I’d forgotten this,” Lucious says. “We took him to the air show.”

Alfred frowned. “Long time ago….”

“I think that was the first day where we forgot; just a little.”

The two drank their tea in silence then, looking over Gotham where the smoke grew; and both sirens and shooting alike sounded in harmony in the same manner as the music playing from inside behind them.

When Alfred set his teacup down, he said, “I just counseled two young people to disobey orders; to help, if they could.” He looked at Lucious with raised brows. “Perhaps we should take the same advice.”

Lucious doesn’t look back. “I don’t think I’m up for any fisticuffs.”

“There are other skills,” Alfred remarks.

“It’s probably useless, you know.”

“Oh, absolutely,” Alfred says.

He turned around to walk back inside, and Lucious followed after him without a word; the both of them leaving behind their tea as its steam rose up to the reddened skies of Gotham, much like the rest of the fires in the city. As the music crescendoed, so too did the chaos of the city; guns, sirens, explosions, and the silent-falling ash alike. End ID.
