* unfortunately, mainly due to xenoglossophilia† bullshit, a "native speaker" in my city doesn't usually imply a high degree of fluency. i sometimes don't feel "native-level" fluent in indonesian, despite having been born and raised in indonesia... which is bad! and which is partly why i set up this blog. i want to truly use this language and become better at it.
† xenoglossophilia: xeno- (outer), glosso- (tongue/language), -philia (love). a term popularised in indonesia by an indonesian language activist named Ivan Lavin, who used it as the title of his book. in this context, it describes the fact that many indonesians tend to prefer using english over indonesian.
