To celebrate itâs first anniversary, itâs with great pleasure that I announce we are officially working on a 2D adult animated #KPDH show : the Highway to hell ! A teaser trailer is currently being worked on as we speak, but let us breakdown what all of this will be about !
(Poster by @cosqf)
The plot is the following : *â6 months after the defeat of Gwi Ma and the Saja boys, everything seemed to have gone back to normal for the Huntr/x, and Rumi finally gets to live casually with her patterns around Zoey, Mira, Bobby, and the rest of the world. One day after a difficult work out session, sheâll receive a mysterious letter destined to reward her group for their latest hit âwhat it sounds likeâ who never got proper recognition for being the most important song of their trio. It will ultimately lead them to a mysterious hotel right next to an old and abandoned town near Seoul named Ongeoul reputed to be haunted by mysterious creatures . Our incorruptible huntrx will soon find out that this event hides much darker secrets that it lets out, and that⊠they arent the only one demons fear around these parts. Tonight, they will learn what freedom truly cost for those who yearns for it.â*
During the wait, feel free to donate on our Kofi ! Anything you give will be used for the production of this pretty ambitious show (if it even goes somewhere đ ) We highly depend on those tips to bring the concept to life, so every amount is greatly appreciated for now !
Until then, feel free to ask any questions to clear up any confusions about this project ! And to show that this is indeed real, here is a few concept arts from the new âvillainâ of the show : the soul eater. Hope this will help convincing you ! I also added an exclusive concept art for the Huntr/x outfits, for fun.
One last thing I wanted to touch upon is that if you are interested in joining the project in any forms : may it be animator, writer, artist, vfx⊠anything that could be valuable, contact me on my personal email [email protected]. Any help is welcomed !
it does suck that the government defunded PBS but it's also so fucking funny that now that they don't take uncle sam's slavery dollars they're running videos like "How america's foundation was built on genocide"
no more being polite about it fuck the USA
The long-lost remains of King Alfred the Great have been found buried under a car park, investigators claim.
Alfred died in 899, and his bones were repeatedly moved. He was buried in Winchester Cathedral until 1110, when his remains were moved to Winchester's Hyde Abbey, where they were interred before the high altar between the bodies of his wife and son. The abbey was demolished after the dissolution of the monasteries in 1539, and the place was left in ruins. In 1866, during construction of a workhouse on the site, the English antiquarian John Mellor excavated the area, found what he thought were Alfred's bones and had them reburied at nearby St. Bartholemewâs Church. But in 2013, when archaeologists exhumed and carbon-dated the bones from St. Bartholomewâs churchyard, they proved to date from over 200 years after Alfredâs death - sparking Graham's interest and search. He said: "Whoeverâs bones they were, they werenât Alfredâs. So, I decided to discover what happened to them. "The quest has taken me 13 years.â
shut up they did not find another goddamn king under another goddamn car park
today I found out my mother doesnât know what dandelions are and now Iâm wondering what other strange secrets sheâs been quietly harboring
Where do you live that you donât have dandelions?
we have dandelions EVERYWHERE, they are basically our State Weed, it is absolutely impossible that my mom has never interacted with a dandelion before, this requires further investigation
So after extensive interrogation I have an update:
my mom is in fact aware that dandelions exist. she temporarily forgot the name and there was some miscommunication.
the truth is actually weirder
sheâs aware dandelions look like this
she is familiar with this flower. she knows the name of this flower. she declines to believe, however, that these are also dandelions
she does not believe these are the same plant. I tried to explain, and she thought I was either misinformed or lying. so I asked her what exactly did she think the yellow ones were called?
she answered, with complete confidence: Daffodils.
gosh I enjoy this website
For comparison, this is a daffodil
See, folks in the southern US will tell you up and down those are buttercups, actually.
i donât think so? iâm southern and buttercups are what we call these things (much tinier)
Wait I thought those bigger cup ones were Easter Lillies???
This is an Easter Lily. It is an actual lily and therefore deadly to cats.
Theyâre marigolds and I know a bitch when I see one!
This is a marigold:
âŠ.we need to start taking the phrase âgo touch grassâ more literally. go outside and examine a flower i beg u
âbuttercupsâ is a name applied to MANY flowers. in my part of the south it was this one:
imo thereâs correct identifications of dandelions, daffodils, easter lilies and marigolds in this thread, but buttercups are simply impossible to agree on and the only solution is for everyone to post pictures of their local buttercups
*squints* is that a motherfucking EVENING PRIMROSE?!??
Hello I would like to add to the confusion:
That purple fella is a Morning Glory as told by my mothers (texan)
âŹïž morning glory
wait so if thats morning glory what is this?
why can rockstar games institutionalise you for life like nikita kruschev for being autistic
He didn't steal 10 million dollars. They made that number up as a loss, they never fucking had it. Rockstar has spent more than a billion fucking dollars on GTA VI and will likely make billions more when it gets released.
Uber is a fucking shell game of a company designed to leech investor capital and output bootleg cabs.
Nvidia posted a profit in 2023 of $4.37 billion. This is like someone stealing less than a penny from me.
And they lock this kid in a prison hospital for LIFE?
Capitalism is disgusting.
Nobody should buy GTA til they free Arion Kurtaj
What with GTA VI going up for pre-order i'd just like to remind everyone that rockstar conspired with the UK government to lock an 18-year-old away for life for hacking them.
they should invent a way for me to do tasks without the mind torture
there is a world out there I canât comprehend
behold, context
Wacom recently asked me to talk about why I make queer comics, and given there are multiple bills right now floating around in congress that are effectively "we will kill your livelihood if we get a sniff of queer" I had some pretty strong, simply feelings to relay.
You can read the interview here, you can buy my graphic novel featuring a gay vampire here, and you can call your congressmen about rejecting HR 2616, HR 8705, HR 7661 using 5calls.org (they don't have these specific bills listed as things to call about, but luckily you can talk about whatever you want on the phone)
South Asia is witnessing scorching heat waves, with temperatures in Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India regularly surpassing 110 degrees Fahrenh
So I saw some people remarking that they didn't understand why "liberals" are focusing on the disaster of the Reflecting Pool paint job, and ok so when you see stuff like that, I need you to remember we are dealing with a wannabe strongman. Anything that makes him look ineffectual, wasteful, and incredibly stupid-- you get that between your teeth and you don't let go. Especially *especially* when it involves laughing at him.
Also... it is funny. Except for the poor ducks, it's funny. Man lost a war to algae. His "American Flag Blue" is green and slimy and the paint is peeling off, and all before his big 4th of July show that no musicians want to play. It's funny. Point and laugh. That is fighting fascism, actually.
Like, this is the same guy who is trying to hide that a judge made him take his name off the Kennedy Centre by hiding the building with a great big tarp to obscure where his name used to be.
Any public slight, no matter now petty, no matter now little it matters to everyone else, gets under his skin like those screwworms he accidentally let Musk reintroduce to Texas (causing the government to call a state of emergency as it's trashing their beef industry).
Mocking the Reflecting Pool is Springtime for Hitler.
Many neonazis and their ilk are okay with their icons being portrayed negatively as long as that negativity takes the form of a powerful and threatening figure. They like identifying themselves with Big Scary Destroyer. It's a power fantasy for them.
That's why, for instance, Trump's incoherence when speaking doesn't bother them. His incoherence is taken, by and large, very seriously. The man opens his mouth and drops a bunch of verbal turds - and the world panics, or at the least gets very, very nervous. Not unjustifiedly, it's true, but the power fantasy of being able to say whatever they want and get taken seriously is still vicariously fulfilled.
But the Reflecting Pool? The Reflecting Pool wasn't supposed to be broken. It's not something Trump destroyed for the sheer pleasure of destruction, which is how Trump's base experienced his gutting of the government via Musk. The Reflecting Pool is something that was supposed to be improved, which he boasted about improving, and instead it's clearly turned to muck. There's no power fantasy there. There's nothing to gloat over; it's just a damp gross failure. It isn't even a catastrophic failure! Tearing down the East Wing of the White House was dramatic, and had the value of making a big, indelible change to a national icon. No matter what happens, the East Wing as we knew it is gone. Power fantasy. By contrast, the Reflecting Pool? It's just fuckin dirty. It's gross. It's your neighbor's neglected cheap pool that's full of dead leaves and slime. An entirely pedestrian, grody, pathetic failure. It would literally be more salvageable as a PR thing for Trump if it got hit by a meteor and turned into a smoking crater.
And that's why we're riding that fucker so hard. This is what's under the power fantasy. Deep down, he's just pathetic. And that's what Mel Brooks understood with Springtime for Hitler. You don't fight the Nazis by making them big bad scary evil guys. You fight the Nazis (when actual weapons aren't a present option) by making them a laughingstock. There is no way to derive a power fantasy from being the object of derision.
Step 1: Remove filters in Reflecting Pool because Obama put them in.
Step 2: Give your criminal neighbor who runs "Greenwater Services" a $20 million no-bid contract to paint the pool.
Step 3: Fill the pool with water from the Potomac River, the phosphates from which cause algae blooms.
Step 4: Freshly sealed pool and extreme heat result in a super scum event
Step 5: Direct National Park Service to dump hydrogen peroxide into the pool which causes the paint to peel.
Step 5: Deploy US National Guard to stop people from taking photos of the swamp as a perfect metaphor for the administration.
Every day I handle more money than I will ever make. Every day.
At the start of my employment, my boss showed me videos of people stealing, and we both had a chuckle about it. How silly they were! There was a camera overhead, and itâs not to watch the shoppers. See, we canât actually stop shoplifters. They get away with it maybe nine out of ten times. But we, who are watched and tallied and witnessed? We are always caught.
At first it was hard to hold one hundred dollars bills. An amount I had never seen before. An amount that didnât exist in my household. Itâs normal now. Here is something that is not for me.
âWhat the hell, Iâll take another,â says the man, pondering our 200 dollar watches. What the hell. Total comes to 580 and not even a flinch in his face. I have been working for 11 hours today and made only 110 dollars. It will go to my rent. Today I work for free, it feels. When I get my check, I will have 35 dollars left for food and saving.
The six hundreds he hands me go into the cash register. For a moment, I imagine having money. Then I put it away, counting out his change.
I know for a fact we sell our products for double what they are worth. That I could be making commission. That they could hand me those 580 dollars and change my life and not even mark the difference in their checkbooks. Heâs not the only sale they make today, but I am the reason they made it. Heâs not the only one spending 600 dollars, but if I hadnât spent two hours with him telling me about his life, he wouldnât have spent any. I go home. I donât own a watch.
I have watched and rewatched a video on how to make salmon four ways. My shopping list is always the same. Pasta. Rice. Tuna. If I can afford butter it was a good week. I dream of the world I will never walk in, where I can throw the best fish fillet in the cart with a shrug. I hold hundreds in my hand and look up at the camera. I put them under the cash drawer.
I go to work. I scrap together my savings. I eat my bowl of rice slowly. My manager takes a paid week off from work just for his birthday. He owns a yacht.Â
Iâm not worth the cost of a watch.
i wrote this while i was working at orlandoâs walt disney world parks.
i was part of their college program. i moved to the state for it. they legally owned the building i was living in and still charged me rent. i ostensibly was being charged to work for them. it was a 2 bedroom apartment and they placed 6 adult women in it in forced triples.
as many as one in ten disney employees have experienced homelessness while working for the company. despite huge efforts to unionize, strike, or otherwise demand fair treatment; disney has refused to increase employee quality of life.
disney admits publicly that a good portion of their success is because the employees (âcast membersâ) are dedicated, passionate, and selfless. this is never reflected in pay. even âfaceâ characters (ie those that are princesses etc) make barely above a minimum wage.
at the time that i worked there, i made $8.50 an hour. at one point i was asked to create a human shield around a bag because a bomb dog had alerted to it. for eight fucking dollars an hour.
i now work a very cushy office job. i have bought the salmon and cooked it all four ways.
i go to the store. i am nice to the person behind the counter. she looks up at the camera while she counts out my change. there is nothing fundamentally different about her and i.
we are both worth more than the watch, anyway.
The first three are literal genetically enhanced space warriors and the last one is just some twitchy nerd who got lucky
Besides Samus would cream them all

another #blenderedrumi thought. also cw for mentions of suicide.
so, humans have nightmares every once in a while, some more often than others. demons are living a nightmare, aren't they, so the awful nature of it kind of bleeds out into the background (do demons even sleep?? for the sake of this headcanonâno).
and then you have a half-demon. someone human enough to be disconnected from gwi ma's touch, but demon enough to feel the remnants of the curse he inflicts upon his victims.
imagine this, then. celine, having read up on dozens of guidebooks about parenting, knows that babies cry a lot. like, a whole lot. no surprises in rumi's early childhood; the shrills in the middle of the night are expected and taken care of. celine never thinks much of it.
but rumi grows. rumi's patterns grow, and with them, her nightmares. nightmares that soon morph into night terrors, cycling between sleep paralysis and too-vivid dreams and aches, aches, aches.
it is not hard to conclude why she suffers from this. anyway, those are the technical parts of the headcanon, parts which i might ramble on about another time, but right now, i'm so stuck on the moments.
toddler rumi bawling into celine's shoulder, too young to even comprehend the abstract pain and torture of her dreams. celine whispering into her hair, completely lost and frightened, murmuring for miyeong to help (she's sure miyeong would know what to do, she always knew what to do).
preteen rumi clutching onto celine, fingers digging into her back as she tries to breathe, breathe, breathe since the ceiling is always too low when she wakes up, the walls too narrow, her lungs too weak. sleep is her enemy for as long as she remembers, and she never learns how to fight back.
teen rumi who barely gets 2 hours of sleep each night, so sure that it would be easier to die than to live like this.
rumi on stage, eyebags covered by countless layers of makeup. she is the main reason why their concerts never last too long. otherwise, she'd collapse from exhaustion. it is a miracle how she's standing as is, how she's sweating and moving and dancing and being so perfect on the outside and yet so flawed on the inside.
and until mira and zoey come to the compound, rumi sleeps alongside celine. then, there is an awfully long stretch of her sleeping alone, having no one to turn to during the night, no one to whisper in her hair, comfort her when the horrors invade her mind.
(maybe either zoey or mira ask her what's up with her sleep schedule, or they hear her yell and cry at night, and she deflects and says that she has stress-induced nightmares, and that she's finefinefine, she's nothing but fine!).
this never goes away.
post-movie, they always sleep together. even if rumi is sick (which adds onto the severity of the night terrors), they are holding her close, ready to help in any way they can. there is not much they can do (there never is), but rumi finds it easier to wake up from a bloody, painful, migraine-ish nightmare and realise that she's with her girls, and the pain fades with their touch, with them lining kisses along her scalp, on her temples.
Okay but now I'm imagining Rumi forced to dream of other's suffering in the demon realm.
Other demons live in the realm kind of like it's Azkaban, a dimension of eternal suffering so constant that most pretty much lose their minds and come back around to a new sort of sanity, often devolving in a sense.
Except it's not supposed to be that way.
i feel like people aren't getting how dire ai is. we are running out of drinkable water. our brains aren't engaging as much with what we see and hear. people near data centers don't get clean water and experience electricity blackouts. it's being used to make pornography of underaged people and women. it often just lies. it affirms everything. it lies. it has made people kill themselves. it lies for gods sake. and people act as if im dramatic for being staunchly against it. 'now i KNOOW you hate ai and whatever, but look at this cute video' this isn't me being a new age puritan about internet videos, this is about the fucking earth and our future living on this planet. people are suffering now, people will suffer more, and my friends and parents will roll their eyes and think im annoying for despising ai so explicitly. we need to wake up because we cannot live like this
I donât think we talk enough about how the entirety of Wicked is built on the irony of No One Mourns the Wicked. The musical exists because Glinda feels the need to tell Elphabaâs story, because she is in mourning and entirely alone in that. Glindaâs love is what creates the musical because no one mourns Elphaba except her, and that is an incredibly lonely place to be. Sheâs just lost two of the most important people to her, and all sheâs trying to do is make someone, anyone else see how important they were.
Wicked is a frame story. This often gets lost in the stuff that happens inside the frame. But it's wildly important who's doing the framing - Glinda - and why - because she's grieving.
But! It's not just grief! It's a decision. It's a character point! It's very much akin to the moment where a young Galinda stepped onto the floor of the Ozdust and started to dance opposite a young Elphaba... and just as delicate a moment.
Because what we definitely don't talk about enough is that Glinda is telling this story in a way that explicitly breaks a promise she's just made to Elphaba near the end of the story. Glinda, panicked and distraught at realizing what's about to happen and her own inability to stop it, cries, "I'll tell them, I'll tell everyone the truth!"
To which Elphaba immediately says, "No. They'll only turn against you."
"I don't care!" Glinda says.
"Well, I do!" Elphaba retorts. "Promise me you won't try to clear my name."
Overcome, Glinda promises in the face of Elphaba's fervor for her safety... and then turns around and immediately breaks that promise.
The thing I also love about this is that we don't see the reprecussions of her decision. We have no idea how it goes for her - if in fact "they" turn against Glinda. Chronologically, the last we see of Glinda in the show is her hovering on the decision to tell the story. "Yes, I was her friend. Yes, I loved her. This is how it happened, and this is what it meant."
Whether or not they turn against her is irrelevant. The fact that Glinda's telling the story at all is her final triumph over her character, her absolute culmination of self. That it's also a testament to Elphaba and their friendship - ultimately the final and most important thing to her - is beautiful. Here, whatever else comes, she's found not only strength, but peace.
#god you are so right #because after all â she already lived that! she already had power & acclaim for the small price of lying #lying about the wizard. lying about her best friend. lying and lying and lying and lying and-- #'I couldn't be happier!' she chirps at the opening of act 2 and it's a desperate cry for help #she has stifled the truth and had the life she always dreamed of and it's been choking her #and elphaba doesn't know that. how can she? they don't exactly correspond #all she sees is that her friend is safe and beloved #and on the news she's always smiling #so elphie begs â demands â 'don't tell the truth about me. don't stop lying.' #what she's really asking is 'don't sacrifice your happiness for the idea of me. I'm lost anyway.' #but glinda isn't sacrificing her happiness for elphie #she's doing this for herself #maybe she couldn't be happier. maybe she can't. maybe this is as good as it gets and all other options are worse. #but if they turn on her and her life is ruined--well. at least it will be HER life #and not this paper-doll facsimile she's let herself be turned into (via aethersea)
thinking about how in ancient times, at least people knew that the lives their children would lead wouldâŠ.vaguely resemble their own???
People have always fondly reminisced about The Good Old Days and complained about Kids These Days, of course. Butâand I cannot stress this enoughâwhen my mom was born the Internet did not exist.
like Iâm thinking about how I am a college student and during the pandemic, work, education, and relationships have been almost totally dependent on a network of technology that literally did not exist when my parents were college students.
When my mom was in college, she just wouldnât have been capable of predicting what college would be like for me. I took a full semester of college from 5 hours away because I can virtually attend class through a pocket sized device that projects my image and voice into a shared virtual classroom where I can interact with my professor and other students. I wrote research papers without physical access to a library because I could read my college libraryâs books on my computer.
If youâre a Mesopotamian farmer, hitching his oxen to a plow, likeâŠidk, man. I canât picture myself at 40. I feel like a Mesopotamian farmer, trying to imagine his sons riding John Deeres.
Itâs so persistently portrayed as this eternal, cyclical thing: Get a job, buy a house, get married and have kids, save for their college, send them off to college. This is the cycle of life. 2.5 kids, buy a house, have a steady career. Just as your father before you did, and his father before him.
Except they didnât. His father before him didnât do this, and your son will not live like you. This is not enshrined in tradition. This is not life. This is not how things are, or have been, or how they ever been. Look at it. This beautiful, ageless world of saving for your kidsâ college and paying off mortgages and nuclear families. There is no way of life to pass down to your children, no tradition, nothing your father gave you that you can give to your son! You were born into a world that is unintelligible and inaccessible to the children you wanted to inherit it, and you and your children will both die in a world that is as foreign to you both!
I donât envy the Boomer generation, nor do I have some kind of conceited disdain for them for not being able to adapt to now. So, so much of what defines our lives happened for the first time in their lifetime, and the absence of those things cannot be explained to us. Do you remember what it was like before television? WellâŠwhat is âit?â
Itâs like our generationâs dim memory of childhood before Internet, and the vast, panicky knowledge that our childhoods were mostly full of a quality best described as the absence of internet, and there is no way to transmit that idea to the kids of today or explain it. We remember it, so, so clearly. It was real. But itâs gone. Annihilated.
Thereâs a midrash that before he died, Moses was worried about what would become of the Israelite people after he was gone. God brought him forward in time to the schoolhouse of Rabbi Akiva. Moses listened to the discussion but could not understand a thing, and nearly despaired, until he heard a student ask Akiva, âhow did you arrive at this conclusion?â Akiva responded, âit follows from what Moses taught.â Reassured, Moses returned to his own time and died.
I taught this midrash last week to a class of about ten 3rd-8th graders whom I have been teaching since September and have never met in person. I asked them to continue the midrash: if Moses made a second stop in 2021, what would confuse him, and what would reassure him?
The youngest kids had a fantastic time imagining Moses trying to use an iPad, trying to understand that he was in a classroom, that we were doing remotely what he had seen Akiva do in person. The older kids wondered if he would be astonished at our level of literacy, or our coed learning.
When I asked what would reassure him they were momentarily stumped: it wasnât the first time this group has struggled to identify positives about their lives and experiences, except in a guilty âsome people have it worseâ kind of way. I reminded them of what reassured Moses in the schoolhouse of Akiva: knowing that what he taught had evolved from rather than superseded the traditions of our ancestors. âWho are we learning about right this very minute?â I prompted.
One of them acted it out: Moses peering suspiciously at his iPad, then exclaiming, âTheyâre learning my Torah in there!â We are not unmoored, we are evolving. It is easier to see the changes than the things that remain constant, but I think there is value, whatever your cultural tradition, in asking âwhat would reassure my ancestors?â
âThe children are using this vast, incomprehensible magical network to mock that damned Ea-Nasir and his terrible copper. Good.â
i love to think about how my ipad holds vastly more knowledge than was available to sumerians in 2000 bce, but if one of them saw me scribble away on it with my stylus, they would know what it is! from 4000 years across history, they would recognize this object if they saw me use it! and maybe theyâd say âyou know, we use something like this where iâm fromâ. and iâd say âi know. in school we learn that you invented them.â and in a weird, convoluted, wonderful and very comforting sense, they invented my ipad too.
âŠOh.
