So the show is utterly mischaracterising most of the characters, but here are a few of the most egregious examples.

Book Percy: Kid with unmedicated ADHD who doesn't always keep his mouth shut; almost always has a witty comment prepared; not a Greek Myth expert but observant, intelligent, and cunning enough to make up for it; a highly opinionated teenager who often clashes with the people around him.

Show Percy: Annabeth's booktok dark romance boyfriend who is utterly obsessed with her and would never ever ever go against her in anything; dour and broody; a fucking encyclopedia of Greek Myth.

Book Annabeth: Intelligent and tactical but also often irrational and emotional; seems mature but has a childish side; also a highly opinionated teenager who often clashes with the people around her.

Show Annabeth: An absolute paragon of wisdom with no irrationality or adverse emotion to be found; a flawless badass who can do no wrong.

Book Grover: An awkward, anxious, downtrodden guy with low self-esteem who slowly learns to have faith in himself; usually the voice of peace between Percabeth's clashing natures.

Show Grover: Confident and bold; just as, if not more, sharp and witty as the rest of the trio.

And a bonus one that I haven't really seen anyone mention:

Book Dionysus: An irascible lout who shows utter contempt for Camp and everyone in it (this may be something of a façade but it's somewhat ambiguous); has a real vendetta against heroes and heroism; generally resentful and apathetic, with something of a sadistic streak, and entirely willing to flex his vast power.

Show Dionysus: Basically just Jason Mantzoukas playing himself; just kind of a silly guy who plays silly jokes; zero real threat felt from him.

Literally so many problems with the PJO show could have been solved if it was a cartoon.

Terrible cgi? Animate it, then it's uniform across the board

Grey, bland "realistic" sets? Animate it, then the Underworld can be as colorful as Wonderland

Actors aging past their characters? Animate it

The "best fitting" actor not looking like their character? Animate it

Percy's sarcastic wit in his narration not translating to screen? Animate some thought bubbles or blurbs, or give him a little chibi like Lizzie McGuire (iykyk)

Stiff fight scenes because they're child actors limited by bad choreography? Hire the team from ATLA or KDH

Lacking diversity in the color grading between the mortal realm and the fantastical mythical realms? Animate it and exaggerate those features

PJO is middle-grade fiction built on wacky mythological monsters, campy puns and humor, whimsy, and some pretty cool battles.

Literally handed to the ideal hypothetical animation team on a silver platter.

But noooo. Cartoons are for children(?!?!) and aren't edgy or dark enough and live action is inherently superior and more Mature.

Meanwhile Disney can throw a billion dollars at a production and yet it still looks like it was filmed on a Disney Channel sound stage.

half the time creators are out here pouring their entire soul, spine, AND three vertebrae into something just for it to get 200 likes and 3 reblogs, two of which are their own. that’s why people stop posting. that’s why fandoms feel empty. content doesn’t magically fall from the sky — it comes from people who feel seen.

and i promise you: reblogging is free. it costs you like 0.2 seconds and suddenly you’re personally responsible for keeping a whole fandom alive. congrats!! so yeah. if you like something? reblog it. scream in the tags. yell. keyboard smash. put sparkles. do whatever. just don’t let creators feel like they’re shouting into a void.
