I can't believe more people don't know about the antique pattern library! All those public domain, vintage handiwork books and magazines are scanned in pdf format, and FREE TO DOWNLOAD! Languages include French, Italian, German, and English. It just does need to be mentioned that most of the earlier English publications are British, so American users need to make sure to convert the instructions as necessary. Especially crochet instructions, where a British double crochet is an American single. No, I don't know why 🤣

Ah. Hmmm. I…yeah that’s fair. (Also yes I’ve written my fair share of this!)
I got this result. . . which, fair. I usually pretend very well that I was socialized, though I see the quiz saw right through me. I don't bite, promise.
I know it would be too exhausting to write, and probably after enough chapters too boring to read, but it would be fun to see a whole version (maybe abridged) of TGCF from Hua Cheng POV, but not because I think it would just be pages upon pages of "gegegegegegegege" (as amused as I am by the prospect of HC having a giddy teenage girl's inner voice- I don't think that's exactly accurate lmao) but mostly because I would love to watch him fall properly in love with Xie Lian.
That's not to say he didn't love him from the beginning, but his direct interactions with Xie Lian were few and far between, not to mention eight hundred years have passed and people can change over time. He has this image of him but it's completely within the context of Xie Lian The Gracious Prince, Xie Lian the Self Sacrificing God, and Xie Lian at his most Depressed and Vengeful Lowest.
I would love to watch him get to know the true full everyday Xie Lian and have that 'oh' moment where he genuinely begins to realize how compatible they are. How perfect they actually are for each other without him having to change himself at all or fit a certain mold. I'd love to watch him realize how silly Xie Lian can be, how cute and awkwardly bashful, how mischievous, and even how callous he can be at times and just fall more and more in love the whole way. Moments where he missteps and probably wants to tear his own hair out. Moments where he's amazed that Xie Lian is not bothered by his actions. And of course the blue screen moment when he realizes Xie Lian's feelings towards him are actually romantic haha.
It would just be so so satisfying. It would be a huge undertaking but man, if I didn't have to work for a living lmao.

I find it hard to believe that Hua Cheng was hiding his motivations for challenging those gods. Like sure he didn't announce his reasoning (most likely to avoid implicating Xie Lian in his nonsense) but it probably wasn't all that hard to figure out either. And while he wouldn't be running around with a sign that says "from Xianle" taped to his back, things like his favorite philosophies to bring up during the debates or the style of his clothing would probably make that an easy thing to figure out (Alternatively everyone could just see who might have a reason to hate those 35 specific gods. List probably isn't all that long)
Au where heaven drags Xie Lian back up there to either a) demand to know why one of his citizens is doing this bullshit and did he order it, or b) demand that he take care of the problem somehow

absolutely flabbergasting to see people who have so enthusiastically succumbed to despair. like okay denethor, but some of us are gonna actually face the armies of mordor in battle nonetheless.
The thing about Denethor is that he not only succumbed to despair, he wanted to ensure that Faramir succumbed with him. Similarly, a lot of people now are not only succumbing to despair, they're actively proselytizing despair, trying to convince others to join them in their hopelessness. Despair is apparently lonely and they want company in their self-immolation.
btw denethor succumbed to despair bc he was doomscrolling on the palantir. Sauron tweaked his algorithm so he only saw bad news, and he fell into the trap of thinking the world couldn't be saved.

I recently made these Elven arrowheads, they are inspired by the Silmarillion and by japanese votive arrowheads (yanone) that sometimes featured elaborate carvings. The one with the eagle is inspired by the rescue of Maedhros.
These are so awe-inspiring! Look at the level of craftsmanship that went into these!! AND OP has told about yanone, which is also so cool! Art, history, mythology, and anthropology are some of my favourite things, so you know I absolutely love this! I want to ask the artist 20 questions about how they made these!

In a modern AU, I want to somehow have Rouye be an animal companion that can aid Xie Lian in different ways, such as self defense and emotional support.

TGCF Revised Edition Translation
Greetings, friends!
Since April 2024, I've been working on a full translation of the newest 2024 revised edition of TGCF, since it has so thoroughly taken over my life and well, since nobody has done a full translation of the revised edition yet, I thought I'd do it myself.
Since Chinese isn't my native language, translating takes me a long time, and I have to fit it around other life commitments. But, rest assured, I do not use MTL for any of my work!
The revised edition has a lot of changes from the original, and content is both added and removed. This is the final version of the story that MXTX wanted to write, and it really shows - I hope you all will enjoy it as much as I am!
