some grace headcanons that mostly came to me in my sleep
-hated wearing his glasses and started wearing lenses in highschool. after he became a teacher, though, he saw a student being upset over having to get glasses. he wore them to school the next day to help them feel better about it. he's worn them since, his students say it suits him better than lenses
-absolutely DREADED parent-teacher conferences because he knew they never ended well for a lot of students so he always made sure to praise every student no matter their performance or attendance
-spread his rations too thin while trying to make sure the eridian scientists would have enough coma slushy to sample and replicate, and started having nutrient deficiency symptoms earlier as a result. he didn't think there could be a chance for him to get his old wounds infected as the hail mary was throroughly sanitized before launch, but rocky breaking out his atmosphere introduced some bacteria his body has never encountered before. he almost doesn't make it
-rocky made his form-fitting xenonite suit after grace started to get worse, being scared thay he wouldn't be able to help grace without injuring him further during an emergency like the time go fishing incident™
-(the suit also makes grace feel way better mentally because he's so starved for physical touch he'll take anything, even though seperated by xenonite it's the most comforting thing he's had during their trip)
-had already suffered through food insecurities due to his time in the foster system. after his arrival on erid he starts stocking and hiding food "just in case" even though he knows the eridian scientists would give him anything he wanted anytime. it never really goes away but he has his family to reassure and help him always 🩶
-> adding to the last one due to the severe malnutrition he puts on weight fast and before the eridians can even go far in their research on human food he already needs new clothes 🥹
