Someone twisted this Jewish familyâs menorah into the shape of a swastika
Naomi Ellis and her her husband Seth spent Friday morning â the morning after the sixth night of Hanukkah â trying to explain to their three young sons why someone had vandalized the menorah the family had put out on their yard by twisting the metal pieces into the shape of a swastika.
The Ellis family had only built the 7-foot-tall menorah on the front lawn of their home in Chandler, Arizona, because their sons, ages 5, 7 and 9, had asked their parents if the family could decorate their home like the neighbors did for Christmas, the Washington Post reported. Read more.

The Tennessee Supreme Court ruled former sex slave Cyntoia Brown MUST serve 51 years in prison before she is eligible for parole.
According to them:
âIn todayâs unanimous decision, the Tennessee Supreme Court explained that, under state law, a life sentence is a determinate sentence of 60 years,â the court wrote. âHowever, the sixty-year sentence can be reduced by up to 15 percent, or 9 years, by earning various sentence credits (good behavior. & getting involved in prison based education programs while incarcerated) Therefore, the Supreme Court concluded that a defendant serving a life sentence for a first-degree murder committed on or after July 1, 1995, may be eligible for release after serving at least 51 years of the sentence.â
For those of you who havenât yet caught up to this story:
Cyntoia Brown was a 16 yr old girl, who at the time of the incident was living in a room at a Nashville InTown Suites with Allen (the man who propositioned her for sex) because her pimp and boyfriend Garion McGlothen, nick-named âKut Throat,â insisted that she needed to earn money.
Kut Throat abused her physically and sexually throughout the approximately three week period in which she lived with him.
After Allen took her to his house, he showed Cyntoia multiple guns, including shotguns and rifles. Later in bed, as she described in court, he grabbed her violently by the genitals, his demeanor became threatening and, fearing for her life, she took a gun out of her purse and shot him.

AU where Stiles and Lydia go out of town to do some research on the Darach.
Stopping at a local roadside store, they notice the guy behind the counter looks a lot like one Derek Hale.
Not wanting to give anything away, they ask for directions to the nearest hotel and as night falls, Stiles nods off at the wheel almost killing them.
When the same guy from the store eerily runs out of the forest to see if they are all right, Stiles decides its time to call Derek.
Derek is not happy.
âDo not freaking MOVE from that spot, Stiles. And tell other me not to move either.â
Derek joins them in an amount of time that has Lydia checking her watch and rolling her eyes, especially since he just ran out of the woods and not up the road, in a car, like a person.
âStiles,â he says, before heâs properly reached them. âWhereâ" He stops short, eyes going wide, then abruptly narrow, at the figure over Stilesâs shoulder.
âYeah, we thought weâd better tie himâŠâ Stiles trails off when he turns, because the Derek doppelganger appears to have been replaced.Â
By a Stiles doppelganger.
Itâs not a perfect match â a little younger, maybe, his hair a little longer, heâd never wear a t-shirt that tight â Â just different enough that Stilesâs brain is trying to convince him that itâs a coincidence, just two strangers who look unusually alike.
Then the guy looks down at himself and starts laughing.
âOh, this is too good,â he drawls in Stilesâs voice, looking between the two of them with a smirk Stiles immediately resolves to practice in the mirror when he gets home. âBoth of you?â
Derekâs on him in an instant, shoving not-Stiles up against the car â though Stiles canât help but notice that he forgoes the claws, which is a strange show of gentility coming from Derek. âWhat are you,â he grits out, eyes flashing.
âThis is the stupidest thing thatâs ever happened to me,â Lydia snaps from beside them. âDid you pick your power from tvtropes?â
Not-Stiles laughs again. Actual-Stiles gapes. âYou know about tvtropes?â
âI know everything.â Lydia tosses her hair. âSo, what is it? Unrequited love? Heartâs desire?â
âThe person they want to see most, technically,â not-Stiles says. He gazes at Derek with a dark-eyed smirk, tilting his head back and to the side in a way that makes Stiles fidget and Derek recoil, growling. The creature snickers. âThough thereâs some overlap. Mostly I do a lot of celebrities.â
Derek is looking at Stiles, now. Stiles swallows, avoids his gaze. âLook, there was a supernatural thing, and I called you first, just like Iâm supposed to,â he says quickly. âLetâs not worry about the whyââ
âStiles.â Derekâs voice is⊠strange. Intense. Stiles immediately forgets what he was saying.
âYou seriously have to do this now?â Thatâs it, Lydia is not invited on any more road trips. She sighs, grabbing the loose end of the rope they used to tie the doppelgangerâs hands. âCome on, Mr. Monster, letâs go for a walk.â
âLydia, you canât justââ
âRelax,â she says breezily, âIâm not going to untie him.â She reaches up, snapping her fingers in front of the creatureâs face. âRyan Gosling. Hurry up, I havenât got all night.â
