The way Final Fantasy 14 explores the themes and lore of its deities and other bosses through the song lyrics in their boss music is very underrated tbh. It's one of the best aspects of the game to me, yet I don't see it praised as much as other things.
And there's such variety, too. Menphina's theme is an upbeat song that explores how the world's cat people find safety and comfort in worshipping the moon. Sophia's theme is a sad parable that shows how the goddess' idea of balance is harsh and inhumane. Lakshmi spends her song trying to seduce you into accepting her ideology of blissful sloth. Shiva mourns her own plight. Suzaku sings of lost love. Athena sings about how she is the shit and she's gonna kill you.
It's all just really great.
I think it's super fascinating to compare Menphina's theme to Tsukuyomi's theme because they're both moon gods but each song and battle are both WILDLY different in tone. They even have a near-identical lyric:
From Wayward Daughter:
Westward lies bleed t'ward the east Wayward daughter, step into the night
From Dedicated to Moonlight:
Go, sing now unto the sky Girls are born to step into the light
Menphina's theme is a joyful celebration of love and coming of age. The moon in this song is a bright symbol of hope that guides you. Also notable in that it depicts worshiping Menphina/the moon as an overall positive thing- unusual in FFXIV where worshiping a god too hard tends to lead to not so great things.
Meanwhile, Tsukuyomi's theme is angry and sorrowful, less about Tsukuyomi the god than it is about Yotsuyu lashing out at a world that's treated her like dirt her entire life. The moon in this song represents eternal night, the punishment she wants to inflict on the word in revenge.
It's really cool that FFXIV has two bosses that seem similar on the surface (a moon goddess) but are completely distinct in mood and theme.
why do grooms get one boring black jacket and brides get the most jawdropping gowns ever like when i get married i want pearls and lace and a train is that too much to ask??
Hnn could you imagine.. a suit embroidered with baroque pearls… a LACE CAPE gently floating behind the groom… a fuckin sword..
oh my god…. your m i n d…. the wedding industry is quaking
Meanwhile in Scotland…
YO, there are SO MANY great groom outfits around the world where he is dressed all in silk, lace, gold, pearls and glitter, with capes and scarves, hats and stitchery and I find it so sad that most of these countries switch over to “suit”. Like, look at these handsome boys!

This last addition to this ^^^ is my genuinely my most favorite part!
I rb’d a different version of this and added other cultures (including that Georgian one – which, ftr, notes that these guys are Georgians in America, because if they’d worn those clothes [chokha] in Georgia as openly gay men having a gay wedding, there’s a not-insignificant chance they would’ve gotten killed, since gay men aren’t considered “real men” and only “real men” are deemed worthy of wearing chokha. Which I think is contextual information worth sharing here – that this isn’t just beautiful cultural garb but also a very deliberate act of defiance and pride using that clothing in the face of the intensely hypermasculine, homophobic culture it comes from).
Rb’ing this alternative version just because I love the inclusion of some of the other same-gender weddings.

Every January I check in on which emulators are currently #1 🏆
I reviewed Emulation Wiki and updated my "Top Emulators" guide with the latest & greatest emulators.
So are there any updates from 2023? SameBoy is now #1 for GB/GBC. Other than that, there are no changes in the top emulator for every other system.
Note that the graphic I attached is simplified for social media. If you check out my guide, I offer different recommendations for advanced users and people with old/slow machines.
I put (*) for RetroArch since it's a multi-system emulator. Different cores power its video game emulators. And my guide states which core is recommended per system.
5 simple exercises to awaken dormant muscles

I appreciate this video a lot--people don't realize how important it is to start slow if you're trying to come back from a completely sedentary lifestyle, and they get really hurt as a result. Straining your muscles too much, too suddenly can land you in the E.R. and the wrong joint injury can permanently affect your mobility, so please start with absolute basics and easy stretches!
#I hope they feel like Italian today
i spent $32 on this fucking bowl at the moma and at first i felt bad buying it bc it was so expensive but ive had a terrible day today and every time i look at my lil bowl im like :o) you know what. i can get through anything with this bowl by my side
i literally get what marie kondo was talking about now
bc everyone keeps requesting to see it filled :)
I don’t know how long I’ve been here. Time seems to pass differently. But the place is cozy and private so I have no complaints. And whenever I’m hungry, I go outside with my bowl and walk down the hill to the shore. Sometimes the lake is made of soup. Sometimes it’s huge pasta noodles the size of barges. Sometimes it’s breakfast cereal. Sometimes it’s dumplings the size of great whales. I dip my little bowl and take a portion and carry it back up to the house.
Today I found a new bowl! In its center is a little hill with a little house. I will carry it down to the shore and fill it up, and whomever lives in that little house can have a tiny portion of my meal. I hope they have a nice bowl to put it in..
“Can you explain this gap in your employment?” I must confess I dilly-dallied. Did a bit of this and that. Yes, I lived an ungoverned life of leisure throughout my youth. But I’m a changed man, I’m to be married and my prospective mother-in-law insists I have an annual income of £500,000 or more if I’m to wed her daughter. Rummy luck. My paltry stipend from my father is a mere £40,000 a month. I am attempting to make up the difference by seeking gainful employment for the first time in my life. This sunglass shack is the only establishment that graced me with a callback.
The most beautiful footage of strangers dancing in public… https://twitter.com/Thorayaaa/status/1660180658646568967
its like a real life version of that children’s song with the magic bridge that you had to dance across
Highlights: --all the old people --one dude who starts doing the Cotton-Eye Joe and has the steps on lock --quinceañera girl with a dress bigger than the circle --lots of kids but particularly the dude who's doing the helicopter with his little girl --an entire section of Millennials doing dance moves I recognize, oh the nostalgia
@hopepunk-humanity
Wasnt actually planning to ever post these outside of patreon BUT since it’s undertale’s anniversary!!!!!! Here’s some doodles from a while back
LMAO the last one! The strongman’s immediately like “No. No, absolutely not. Nope.” and the bodybuilder looks around like “Are you kidding me? I’ll die. You know that, right? I’ll die?”
The Rogue, the Paladin, the Barbarian have a day to themselves and enjoy some friendly competition.
This is such a fun video to watch. Not only do you see 3 versions of masculine fitness and strength but with each movement you can almost see where their weight is distributed and where they place their control. Which makes it fun to think about body builds and fantasy characters.
woah dude….. your hurt sound is vaguely sexual….. im trying to kill you but im. im getting a bit flustered

It’s also worth noting that Leon’s VA for dbd Riley McShane knew exactly what he was doing.
