oh log we’re really in it now
Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.
Hey. Hey. Tumblr. Ides of March ppl. We can do this
Hell yeah moon holiday
Ooh coming up we should celebrate
PITCH: We call it Moon Day, and then every 7 years when it falls on a Monday, that's an even BIGGER deal and we call that Moon Day Monday and go absolutely apeshit about it (the next Moon Day Monday is in 2026 so we have a couple trial runs first)
MOON DAY MOON DAY MOON DAY
moon day is 20th July!!!
Scheduling this a day earlier to remind you all and myself about the Moon Day tomorow!
Happy moon day to all who celebrate
This is your reminder to prep for Moon Day on July 20th.
OH HEY, THATS TOMORROW
they used to let kids have real fun
There's an xkcd for that :3
Side note: polonium-210 is a very dangerous isotope, however it "does not pose a radiation hazard when kept outside the body", as the alpha particle it emits have very little penetration power and cannot pierce even the outer layers of dead skin. It has still killed countless people, though, not because of children's rings, but because of tobacco. Polonium latches onto and concentrates in tobacco leaves, leading to heavy smokers being exposed to more radiation than survivors of the Chernobyl disaster.
It's always wild to me seeing comments about different toxins like this on information about random things in the past, but it's never discussed when it comes to cigarettes.

I do think Western Plaguelands is the scariest zone in hardcore, despite it not even being a max level zone
See, Eastern Plaguelands is a nice respectable leveling zone. You roll in there, talk to Tirion (and Nathanos if you're Horde) and get your quests to go kill one fucktillion mobs that are scattered about the zone in abundant quantities and properly distanced from each other. One quick pop in to check on Pamela, then over to Light's Hope for some errands to the west, then you're off to Silithus. Just so long as you don't enter the Spider Death Tunnel or fall prey to the temptation to click on the strawberry gummies littered around the zone, it's perfectly safe. Western Plaguelands is like you roll up to the Argent Dawn camps and they're like hello hero. how many skeletons do you think can occupy one square meter at once. take this cauldron flask and go find out

I remember a campaign me and some friends made specifically to spite the universally negative portrayal of gnolls and their irl hyena counterparts lol.
There's the trope that hyenas are filthy, disgusting scavengers (which is certainly not true, they're capable hunters, and also scavengers play a vital role in the environment as clean-up crews reducing the spread of disease) so we made them artisans who specialized in cuisine and making sure no food goes to waste, with their talented cooks and chefs making delicious dishes out of what would normally be considered "leftovers" and also having dried and fermented food play a large part in their cuisine.
Also I loved the idea of carnivores' equivalent of coffee and tea being a light bone-based broth similar to stock and consomme instead, thought it was a nice touch.
I remember the big surprise everyone had when they were expecting a brutal fight ahead and instead it was just a fun little trade at the gnoll market for the desired quest items all while being offered some nice soup. 😂
Yes! Scavenger animals are done so dirty, always getting the villain role. Any carnivorous animal is more likely to be painted as the villains in fiction, but at least if they're high enough on the food chain or have some charisma like wolves and lions do, they might also get to be heroic. But scavengers? Very rare to see them portrayed as Good. Mostly just villains, or maybe just as bumbling and gross and neutral-ish. They deserve better.
@c-rowlesblogs Fun gnoll worldbuilding. ^^
really cute and good!!
It's fun when the robot character in the sci-fi show gets cut in half because nobody working on this type of media knows anything about robotics and you never know what you're going to find inside. Green printed circuit boards? Meat and viscera, but like in a weird colour? Just a shitload of goo?
I especially like it when the robot appears to have realistic musculature which operates via contraction, suggesting some sort of fluid-driven or shape-memory-based actuation, and then it gets dismembered and a bunch of random gears and sprockets go flying everywhere.
You're a sci-fi robot who just got cut in half by the Big Bad (don't worry, you'll get better). What's inside you?
Printed circuit boards (blinking lights optional)
Gears and sprockets
Endless bundles of wire
Some sort of translucent crystal
Meat and viscera in a weird colour
Random geometric shapes
The cut is mirror-smooth, like I was one solid mass of metal
It looks like... car parts?
I'm actually mostly hollow

guys you gotta stop thinking of women in their 30s as elderly it’s just misogyny
you also gotta stop thinking about actual elderly women as lesser human beings. Youth is not a measure of one’s worth.
hate when im reading and theres a word i dont know so i search it in the dictionary and its like: beuperer. noun. a person who beupers. i'll fucking kill you
Or you get the 2-loop:
beuper. verb. "to form ponsilza"
ponsilza. noun. "the result of beupering"
